Try looking for a guild that will do "training runs" with people that have no experience. Many guilds do that even if they are not focused on endgame PvE, even some trading guilds do that.

I wouldn't stress too hard on it. I have always used group finder and have finished every dungeon (except vWGT and vICP due to my low champ points). I've only encountered a few grumpy players a few times that have disbanded the groups, usually though they are the ones that die over and over and don't have great skills.

My only advice would be, check the level recommendation of each dungeon online before trying to group. If you try to do a v16 dungeon at v1, you're probably going to get kicked as soon as the leader notices your level.

came in here thinking it was a story about someone not being taught how to run, impaitence, etc results in them being booted.

But after reading, and seeing the replies, its more than that I think. Its that you 'REFUSE' to learn (ASK FFS, JUST ASK if you do not know something) and are 'that guy' whos 'DPS' but only does light arrow attacks (And don't move, resulting in death, and ignores res's and waits for boss to die) or that tank who has 12k hp and thinks that because hes holding a shield mobs should just attack him without him doing a thing, or the healer that believes spamming sap essence is 'healing' (Yet hes off behind the boss)

Truth is, of the others I've read here, i would be utterly shocked to really see you get 'booted' or refused a run (In all but the WGT/ICP dungeons, MAYBE COA vet)because ANY of them can be carried by ONE DECENT guy(Of any of the 3 roles) with 3 'noobs'

so, sorry, your 'fears' are utterly unwarranted. U want to run a dungeon, and want to learn it, say so. At least then you can find a group BEFORE you get into a dungeon. LEarn about common sense things like food, potions, what 'mechanics' to watch for, etc.

Yea, I avoid instances too. I play for fun with my own builds which are not always top DPS, but I always try to squeeze as much DPS of them as possible, so they are often similar to the one's one can find in guides.
All my guilds are your standard guilds filled with egomaniacs etc. so doing anything with them is out of question and I was unable to find a fun, friendly, laid back guild that doesn't care about your champion level more than about who you are.

Dont be afraid just try group finder or look for people at the undaunted. I never really had a problem few days ago was like the first time I was healing in Vet Wayrest and they told me to DPS so I did DPS/Healing but when Im DPS/Heal my magicka runs out so quick also they didnt do that much damage... at the boss nobody was going for the zombies while fighting the boss so I was like TF... so I went to kill the zomies while I was doing that 2 people died they got mad and said I wasnt doing my job I got on the mic and told them nobody was killing the zombies and that I want the golden key not the silver they said I need to stop btching I told them to *** off and left their group so I used group finder again and 20 seconds later I got a group we beat wayrest within 15mins waaay faster and waay more damage from the other guys in the group then the other group I was in before. But some people always have a reason to btch about stuff etc

Yea some people don't get the fears about not being good enough and stuff like that, I totally get it

I didn't even talk in guild chat when I first joined one few weeks ago lol. I've found my confidence bit by bit, with some guild runs once I started talking and pugging more and more normal dungeons. I feel tentatively ready for vets now! Still got performance anxiety though. What platform/server are you on Cazzy?

Van, I think this illustrates what Cazzy and others (including myself) are afraid of... at least in PVP no one cares about my gear or CP. I do understand the requirement for Vet dungeons, but you have to do normal first to gear up or get experience. Aside from the monster sets, isn't the best gear generally available through solo and pvp play?

Just let the group know that you haven't done it before - but that you want to learn and you will give it your best shot. And listen to'm and it should be fine. Ofc, you will have the "Elitists"(They're not even good PvE-players. The good pve players don't mind people with low cp..). But they're pretty damn rare.

I've done five PUG-runs of dungeons. And I kicked one person, once. Because the person did nothing but light attack and the occasional PI; and didn't take the Pinion on Planar inhib in vWGT. The guy didn't listen to us(we tried to explain itto him in french, english and german, still nothing..) So I ended up kicking him cus it wouldn't work. GOt a replacement that had around 350 CP. It was his first time in vWGT, but he listened! And he took the pinion too, so it was np finshing it

Just be honest with your group and you'll be fine!

Totally understand. Am nervous about this too. Have joined a couple of guilds recently but still kinda shy about voice chat so not said anything yet - and when have listened in they have been in the middle of something so don't want to interrupt. Will force myself to soon though!

The other issue I have is similar to others on here in that I play this for FUN & to escape so having to get stressed about my dps / cp / skills slotted /armour sets / watch youtube etc ruins it for me.

Play PSN EU too (name same as here) so if you ever want some one to attempt things with let me know. All I can promise is that I will my best, probably die a lot but have a laugh doing so...........

Yes, people are more likely to tell about negative experiences here on forums. In reality, community in this game is pretty decent and there's many people who are willing to help.
Joining a guild can be beneficial, too.

P.S. Speaking of "they kicked me!" stories... Dont forget that we mostly hear these stories from the perspective of the person who has been kicked and is very angry about this. We dont know how much truth is in these stories. From my experience, very few people would kick someone just out of the blue, without any reasons.

Well if you are still in TBP or MOM guilds just chime in guild chat when you are on NA the people there don't kick for inexperience only if you are being an ass which I doupt you will have to worry about. Ran vet daily yesterday with me being the only one that did the dungeon went pretty smooth.

Also if you are really shy about voice chat @Red_Psylocke is really good at getting groups together fast and is a very good and patient teacher perhaps you can send him a PSN message many first time dungeon runners in TBP often go to him.

Depending on if you're a Magicka character or not, I'd recommend trying out a Normal Dungeon first as a makeshift Healer. My very first experience I was a Magicka Sorcerer with a Restoration Staff on my backbar. I knew I wouldn't be much use as a Damage Dealer so I queued as a Healer. Most people would probably have given me crap cause they expect a good Healer to be a Templar, but we just wen't right along into the Dungeon and I fared fairly well. Granted the others were Vet16 DPS characters and were pretty much carrying me from the start, but I wasn't a total loss to the group and we got through it in one go.

Just give it time, make a few leaps to test out what you feel you're best as in a Dungeon setting, be prepared for those frustrating Boss fights, make sure to have PLENTY of Soul Gems, and if you are in a Guild try to do Dungeons with them. They'll be more understanding than random players.

This is actually an interesting point for me, and I forgot about it in my first comment.

One of the big problems that I see with ESO, and with a lot of MMO games, is that a lot depends on coordination and sharing information within the group, but the game is not really designed to do that well.

This is one place where consoles have it better, but on PC/Mac, it is text chat unless an agreed upon voice chat can be established. It is too much of a pain to have to type out instructions or questions, and in the heat of combat, the last place I am expecting to be spending my time is reading chat messages.

Do the ESO PUGs use voice chat or is it all just text chat or quiet fuming when someone isn't doing what they should be doing? If they use voice chat, how does that get established and usable with the group? Does everyone just assume that the mechanics are well understood by everyone (like WoW) such that the need to communicate is not that common?

Funny thing! For me I had no help from my guilds or friends at that time.
I used to make mistakes and get kicks/hate tells from my group members. So, what I do is take all my fusration out on PvP and show no mercy to my enemies.( Although, I have experienced more hate tells and kicks from cyrodiil than in dungeons)
Eventually, I started to understand the mechanics of this game and my class.

The trick is to know your class and the mechanics in this game, the rest is by watching YouTube guide.( the best YouTube PvE dungeon streamer is deltia's gaming, he also gives good tips about class, race and animation canceling but his PvP is average.).

Just remember, 90% of the horror stories come from PUGs. Play with your friends, if you don't have friends, make some, then play with them.

I've got thousands of dungeon runs under my belt across a half dozen or so MMOs. I have about 5 horror stories that don't involve PUGs.
