Your reaching the point where Crafted and Dropped sets start to matter. Your spell damage is a bit low, but I am comparing that to a character of around the same level that has lots of champ points, so that is not a fair comparison.

As one person mentioned above, skill rotations are the key to this game, then weaving in light and heavy attacks between skill attacks will preserve your resources.

If your running a magic sorcerer, your best off with a Destro Staff. I even carried two of these, one bar was for AoE attacks for multiple mobs, one bar was single target DPS for Bosses or single larger mobs.

Also, make sure your class skills are leveled, and have some of those skills on your bar as they boost your damage. Also, make sure you have Magic Glyphs on all your armors. Jewelery can help too, most of the good stuff is above your level, but Syrbane, Warlock, Soulshine are things to look out for as you venture into Champ Ranks. In the meantime, just find Arcane Jewlery that has a built in boost to magic. Put glyphs on those that either boost your spell damage, or reduce your spell costs (if you find your self running out of magic often)

Some skills when you use them make the next attack or skill do more damage or more healing or whatever, learn the synergies so you know what order to have things happen.

Inner Light is your best support skill and should be on the bar at all times. It will boost your spell critical and give a boost to magic.

What kind of armors should I wear? I wear all light clothes except belt and I haven't seen any spell critic or damage gylphs in the game.

I don't mean to sound dismissive, but it sounds like what you're missing is the experience of working with actual endgame builds. Which... I mean, that will come.

If you were a CR160 with weapon damage of 700, then, yeah, you'd have a reason to be down on yourself. But as it stands, you're still gearing up your class.

This makes more sense now because this is my first character. I haven't created a second one yet. This may shock you I have created this character last year and I only play an hour or two every week. I feel like I live under a rock for too long. I will give it a shot and try some of advices that you guys gave me.

My second character breezed her way to max level wearing level 10 gear.

You are asking questions and learning while playing your first character. You haven't mentioned having a problem staying alive or proceeding with quests, so you are where you need to be.

Same. First character: "Oh god I have no idea what I'm doing."

Second character: "Eh whatever I'll use this level 10 set until level 40."

Third character onward: "I blink and everything dies."

When you hit 50, you'll be able to access all the content (although I wouldn't jump in guns blazing to somewhere like Veteran City of Ash or Craglorn because, well, you'll kinda get rekt). From there, you can start to figure out your build and what you want to do. although you don't really need to be committed to it.

If you're focusing on solo play - which is fine in most cases, yes even though this is an MMO you can do a very large chunk of content solo - you can really do whatever you want. In group play, it's really preferred that you at least do stuff that makes sense (if you want to DPS, using a destro staff instead of a resto staff, for example), but plenty of combinations are possible that will work well enough. It's only really in late veteran (champion??) content that you'll, to put it bluntly, need to know what you're doing. Unfortunately there will be some people who will act like it's a cardinal sin that you don't know your class inside and out; these people have evidently forgotten that they were new once, too, and I recommend you ignore them.

When you get to the point where you start worrying about builds, your best bet is to Google "eso {class} build" followed by the main patch number and/or the name of the most recent major update. So, in this case, it'd be "eso sorcerer build 2.4" or "eso sorcerer build dark brotherhood/db". That way you're not getting a build that fell out of usefulness months ago. Otherwise just do what you like as long as it isn't just silly.
