    I hope it's just a false rumour.

The result of housing is pretty clear:
    • Or the supply of houses is very limited and prices will be extreme
    • Or they would take the Ultima Online approach, were you could build a house on any open spot. In no time the world was full of houses and the game became ugly. Oh and these houses were pretty expensive too.
It's a nay for me. Not that it matters.

Ultimate online is still a great game but I have to agree no houses on ESO

Is it really needed to have a house? Guildhall.. Hmm maybe, but then again what for. Ur on an everlasting adventure of sorts anyway. Also theres plenty of things already not working on the game at this point, with new dlcs being launched with more broken things and not nearly enuf patches to really make it smooth.

If u want a house u can throw ur gold/mats into and sit there looking pretty by urself, by all means go ahead. :)

I should be like in DC Universe Online where you have several spots to buy and the House is a instan ce

Nice approach. I assume you couldn't decorate your own house in that game?

Think of GTA 5, you have the same "Houses" but you select the characters room. Same thing with DCUO, it's a really good concept and automatically what I assume ZOS will do.

Imho personal houses will kill immersion and I don't see any advantages. Cannot have extra inventory, access to bank or stores, cannot have crafting stations too - that would depopulate actual areas.
For open space and wall decorations? Boring...
Swtor is good example, player strongholds killed the feeling of playing mmo in large community. You end and start all your games inside your stronghold. You visit populated areas very rarely. Then the game becomes even more single player mode and slowly dies.

It's not Skyrim with thousands of items in tens of chests and barrels around.

Only guild halls with access to all alliances make sense to me at this point.

Without reading any discussions on Facebook and so on, i´ll just give my 2cent on the matter.

First and foremost - i want housing as a social addition to all the homeless heroes and as a meetingplace for guild. The gods know in what obscene spots the people gathering right now...^^
I see 2 technical approaches, that is
    1) The instanced house /guildhall
This can be accessed from wayshrines or key- locations (sample house that leads to the instance) The advantage of this approach is the size. from small huts in the wilds up to a coastal cliff magestower, or a forgotten crypt or a small fortified keep, a nord- style farmhouse - everything is possible. The instanced space can be filled with a customary design in a environment to choose - maybe even a dungeon. The Interieur can be filled with various stuff, beds, tables, bookshelves, alchemy labs, what u want.
    2) buy a construction site
This would probably demand some areas to be assigned free for building. Those areas would then needed to be purchased as well as the building and all house items as well. Access would be limited to owner/ friends/ guildmates as same as in model 1, but all the buildings in the construction area would be visible for other players. This could cause eye- cancer B)

personally i would favor option 1

Housing is essential for this game and would love a guild hall so long as it has some features with it.

No its not in this one. Essential would be bug fixes, lag fixes etc. Housing and roleplaying in houses so you and your friends can have get togethers on what the topic of the night will be is not in anyway essential.

Whenever the housing discussion comes up, the "not essential" or "not needed" arguement comes up. I kinda laugh. This is a game, which is pretty low on the "essential scale". According to my dad, and all those who spend all their time working, all these games are a waste of time.

So, here we all are, wasting are time in a game, arguing over what activities are essential? If my wife wants to spend all her ingame time decorating her house, who am I to say that that is more of a waste of time than grinding mobs? I like the idea of an MMO catering to all the different playstyles, not just the ones I favor.

Well some of those houses are already on the PTS - most likely those will be instanced - there are houses from small to large and even huge ones (castle-like or big manors), which might be for guild housing. The smaller ones do not seem to have a garden, but the others are likely to have one. Have a look:

Housing... I hope it will be nothing more than a few shacks. :P

Take a look at the video above your post - it shows a couple of housing locations on the PTS.

What´s in the vid looks not bad, but kinda conventional...i hope they use the time to make some more exotic stuff, like WW dens, vampire crypts, mages towers...:)

Make (guild) houses with daily questboards available, so players wouldn't have to go to various quest hubs in various zones (Wrothgar, Thieves Den, DB Sanctuary and more in the future), let players pick up and hand in these quests at these boards, and this will make guildmembers to visit this job-centre often.

If ZOS would set a limit to create guildhalls for those guilds, which have at least 400 members, this would end in an environment with a few, but huge houses. I can imagine that smaller guilds or individual players could buy a room in these buildings (without doors; I think this is important in avoiding total separation), and join the communities this way, while creating their own quarters, in their own style with chosen furniture.

The only downside would be that the formerly crowded towns would be a bit less crowded, but if ZOS would set high enough prices for the buildings (and the flats), not every player would want to get this feature.

Anyways, I wouldn't support any methods which separates players from each other, but I'd really like to see some kind of housing. Paradoxon :)

I'll list my experience with housing from other games, ZOS can make ESO housing system a great feature, but we'll probably only get something cosmetic and instanced.

    - Dungeons Dragons Online: Guild Ships: very shallow system except for these very cool "ship buffs", higher level guilds could get new ship buff. It gave us reasons to level the guild and also some pratical use in general gameplay. You could invite any player to your guild ship.
    - Archeage: One of the best housing systems around. You had farms, houses, farm houses etc. You could use it to store things, or put craft stations or even store trade packs. But the most important feature is that you could use the farms and farm houses to plant ingredients to craft, raise animals etc. But it was a very competitive and capitalism system, since they were no instanced, the player need to spend a small fortune our to wait for weeks to get a nice plot of land.

There is many other, but I my point is that housing needs to have a ACTUAL use NOT ONLY COSMETIC, as I showed in these two exampels, either for farming/crafting or especific buffs that are only available in the houses.
“Kings of the land and the sky we are; proud gryphons.” Stalker stands, the epitome of pride. Naked and muscular, his wings widen and his feet dig in as if he alone holds down the earth and supports the heavens, keeping the two ever separate.”

I really look forward to this. I would like to see you be able to get an instan house in the cities so cities don't get empty.
But i think it will be more like Skyrim bit in an outdoor instan long away from cities.

If this is some of the houses then there will be a mad dash for them( seems limited) But it may just be instanced areas as they did In Lotro
