So you can BUY Vampirism or Lycanthropy now?

Just came back after many months of time off (been obsessed with Fallout 4) and noticed that you can now purchase bites for Vampirism or Lycanthropy in the Crown Store?

I have so many crowns built up after so many months of being out (but still having my subs) that I'm considering it.

Can y'all suggest the best level(s) and class(es) for them?

Also: I am unsure what the specific powers/benefits/weaknesses are for them. Is there a link that y'all could share so I can do a little research?

Have a full new roster of 12 characters that I'm setting up right now. They're all under level 10 right now, but I'll get them up there eventually.

Thanks!

I wouldn't buy it simply because you're deprive of the quests that comes along.

I'm pretty sure you just buy the bite and have to do the quest, same as if a player bit you.
I was mistaken...pretty lame to buy it then.

    @DenMoria
The quest to become a full fledged werewolf/vamp has level 38 enemies within that scale up to your level if your above that level. You can do them at a lower level but if you try too low then you'll run the risk of your attacks going right through them.

No, buying the disease gives you the full thing, bypassing the quest entirely.

@Vigarr no you don't have to do the quest if u buy it from the crown store. If you purchase the crown bite then you are already vamp or ww. There was a thread posted a month or 2 ago asking the mods for clarification and their answer was that.

Vampire questline can be done at level 10, and maybe even lower, although it does take some planning and patience.

Werewolf questline is also doable at a lower level, but as you are forced into melee range I recommend good gear and food for your level. You may also end up leaving the quest area and re-entering until you get onbe of the easier bosses.

Once you have it, Werewolf can be leveled quickly (kill things at any level while in werewolf form) while Vampire is slower (gains experience as you do, but leveling to 2 vampire requires the same experience as leveling your character from 38 to 39).

dont waste your crowns on this. Buy the DLC and maybe a couple of outfits you like.

Go to the respective shrine of your faction and /kneel and wait. You'll get bit
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

agreed @yodased tons of people ( including myself ) give bites out for free... dont ever pay gold for them either ... people try to charge 4k+ to give a bite that they more than likely got for free

    Thanks for the info all!

I don't like costumes, or pets or any of the cosmetic junk they have for sale, so maybe I should just buy upgrades to my packs and bank.

At least that way I get some bang for my bucks. I mean, honestly, what am I going to do with 20K+ in crowns anyhow.

My Werewolf did it under 10, so did my Vampire, and not with any particularly special gear if I recall correctly or any use of food. Vampire made use of Frost Staff and Bat Swarm more than anything and Werewolf had to fight the snake. Against the snake it was kill or be killed, no room for defensive measures.

I think my vampire was around level 10 when he did the quest but it can definitely be done lower, I've bitten people around level 3 who successfully completed it. I would advise you not to get it from the Crown Store though as others have said, because if you ask in zone usually people will offer to do it for free. I was actually just hanging around the shrine when someone came up and offered to bite my character, so that's an option too; or you can try your luck and find special bloodfiends or werewolves out in the world to infect you.

Vampirism seems to benefit magicka builds more than stamina ones and it's not normally advised for pve because of high dungeon fire content, but I use it on a stamina build in pve and don't have too much trouble with it (totally waiting for it to become the new meta so I can say I was doing it before it was cool :p).

Not sure about werewolf because I've never tried it but I know a few tanks that like it because it gives bonus stamina regeneration when slotted, and werewolf form gives them a bit of dps if they need it but it's an expensive ultimate to use.

    Information on them is here:

Don't buy. You can easily get a WW or vamp bite for less than 5k gold (some even give them for free), just ask in /Z while in a city or in the zone where the shrines are.
I wouldn't buy it simply because you're deprive of the quests that comes along.

Agree with this, both WW and Vamp quests where really fun and I did both pre 20 (just bring a bow/destro staff for vamp, it will make it much easier).

I use the quest to grind ww to a morph able level I would recommend you do the same it really speeds up the process. Don't bother with the crown store version

It is such a waste of crowns. Buy mounts and pets if you don't want to buy the DLCs... You can easily get bites in game and most of the times for free if you have friends.

Just give a yell, someone will bite you for free.

The first time I did that in the capitol city I had like 40 offers lol...
