Crownstore Stupidity

This is kinda ridiculous why would a digital store need to make room?

Just to answer this. It isn't to make space obviously.

An over saturated market place leads to small sales of a particular item, if the devs want to keep developing new items for the crown store they need to get sales to get future work approved.

Reduce the amount of old crap and only sell the newer items gives less choice and in theory larger sales of newer items they need to push.

But they discontinue for example the Priest of Green costume, which is not even in the crown store yet - so they do not know about how well it will sale. It is a limited time offer basically, which is not officially stated as one.

This is the real problem, to be honest.

I don't mind them getting rid of old cosmetic items from the store.

What I do have a problem with, is that they're removing new items that came out not even a month before this 'store clearing'.

Come on ZOS, at least name the items for what they are then, limited time offers.

Is this because the mounts and costumes are limited time runs?

It also brings an air of exclusivity because after they take it out of the store and you still have it you now have a sort of collectors item.

If you don't want to buy the mount you don't have to. The in game horse mounts work just as well.

@Niastissa More like things you assume are permanent are now limited.

    Like what?

I have the costumes, mounts I want and I got my two assistants and ll the DLC. Not much else I want that is being offered right now. I'm not really too concerned about the same items being in the store now.

For those that feel like nothing should ever be removed from the store because it is digital. Do you really want to have to thumb through pages and pages of things? I don't. I don't, I like the at a glance see what is available and get out and play the game. I think this is what they mean by clearing out space. I'm fine with it.

What about sorting by date and rating?

I think I would rather them fix issues in the game before screwing around with the store more right now.

That's what I meant earlier on : ESO doesn't have the tools Amazon has, and I don't want them to develop anything the like : ESO is a game, the crown store should remain small in its little corner.

It won't be in a small little corner, it's a free-to-play game and they need to push crowns onto you.

So we all agree that this "make room for stock" thing is just to get the stupid idiots to rush and panic and buy these "limited time" offers.

Now, obviously I am not a stupid idiot, but my friend here who is a stupid idiot would like to know where this list of items to be removed from the Crown Store is, just in case that cat I haven't bought yet is on it.

Oh. They. Cat THEY haven't bought yet is on it.

    Stupid idiots.

    It's a B2P game.
If they "push crowns" onto me, I'll leave. So will hundreds of thousands of players.
There are plenty of F2P games which do this : if we wanted to play one of them, we wouldn't play ESO.

So far ZOS has been extremely fair with the crown store : it should remain that way.
The fact that they're tidying up so that the crown store doesn't include too many items and doesn't require a search engine goes in the right direction imho.

NO to a crowded crown store with search engine, rating, consumer's comments, whatever. ESO isn't Amazon marketplace.

The same applies to the limited time items. Blame the people who buy into it, not ZOS for making money off of those people.

@MissBizz Thank you! The cat isn't on the list, but my friend knows they want it, they should probably just suck it up and buy it anyway.

It's called creating scarcity. It's a tried and true model for creating demand in a marketplace. If you want people to buy something, make it limited time. The fact that this stresses you out means that it actually works. You may not have the money to buy something now, but you will feel the pressure to buy it now. That's why it upsets you. If you had the means, the pressure would get to you and you would buy, immediately.

It's called preying on the weak minded shopping addicts lol.

I like it when they gut out old costumes. Then after some time passes tou can feel like it's somethimg special (despite it being availanle for half a year. Tbh so much rage over this is sorta pathetic :expressionless:
I used to q=be a manager of a large store. items come and go, but some people just throw temper tantrums when products change. I know your type, never happy. If they come back you'lk probably demand it be free even.

So Some people will never be happy, and constantly demand the world adapts to fit their archaic needs. it'd peobably bother me, but the fact that life goes on regardless of people standing in the way is quite assuring.

so, who else is stoked about the new costumes coming out, I can't wait for one in particular, but it's at the end of the month :(

Scarcity doesn't exist when your goods are digital and thus limitless. Because they are digital goods, it is also illogical that they would need to be removed to "make room for new items".

Khajiit thinks artificial scarcity is self defeating. This one will explain why yes.

When khajiit she wants a new outfit she looks for something very specific - either for herself or one of the apprentices.

If what khajiit has in mind is not there then khajiit will not buy something else. If khajiit she looks for a chef outfit then she is not going to buy a jester costume instead.

Therefore to ensure the store meets the fashion whims of this one at the time the whims occur then it would always be best to have available as much as possible. After all if the effort has gone into the creation of an outfit then why limit the opportunities of this one to purchase it?
