You're taking "making room for new stock" too literally. Zos always uses this sort of fun role playing language in their messaging.
They know that we know how a virtual store works. And they will do whatever they can do get people to buy crown store items.
If it bothers you, just ignore the crown store. If you're an ESO plus member just spend your crowns on exp scrolls and ignore the rest.
The fact that a thread was created on this just proves that their sales tactic has worked. Even if your feedback is negative, it's still generating conversation about the items they're advertising.

How can you ignore something that people buy? Is there an option to hide peoples pets, skins, costumes, mounts, and etceteras? No well than we can't just ignore it. @Cazic
That would be the only compromise is if we hide the things other people are using. Mounts would just turn into normal horses you could buy.

Come on now. Amazon does not retire stock to make room for items. They have pages. Stop preying on people that like collecting things. Pathetic!
Conquistador wrote: »Whatzituyah wrote: »This is kinda ridiculous why would a digital store need to make room?
That is kind of why I am chortling amongst myself about it. It just makes no sense to me. For the sensible player, we will continue on without thinking the item has to be purchased.

Why are you concerning yourself with things other people have or buy? Just don't worry about other people or their spending habits and do what you want to do.

Thank you or bringing my attention to this matter. I hope you continue your efforts in policing the dastardly tactics of evil internet marketers everywhere.
I think another pathetic thing ZOS does is call them "Crowns". How pathetic! Like they are tricking people into thinking it's actually gold. Because, you know ... people think gold is valuable.
Can I invite you to speak at my kids' elementary school? You'll get to wear a costume and everything.

Imagine if you didn't have to buy 'vanity' items from the Crown store. Imagine that. Cast your thoughts in the direction of choice and free will. Just imagine if you were not forced to spend real money on things that don't actually matter besides aesthetics.
What a thought that is, indeed.
Really though, gettin' pissy for the sake of gettin' pissy is kinda childish.

Of physical goods. With discounts. As in a SALE.

If something doesn't matter, how are you being "forced to spend real money" on them?

@Hearsay_ If everyone thought the same as that would we have a game?
Yeah, I daresay we would. The thing about the Crown store is that it's pure choice. It isn't mandatory. I've spent my fair share of dollars buying the mount upgrades, and some bag space stuff. Useful, but not exactly necessary.
What I mean is there's no point havin' a sook over something that is pure choice.

You have to read between the lines, they need to make room in your wallet.Whatzituyah wrote: »This is kinda ridiculous why would a digital store need to make room?

May be they want to avoid have hundrend of items and "flood" the crown store. It might scare new players.

Just to answer this. It isn't to make space obviously.
An over saturated market place leads to small sales of a particular item, if the devs want to keep developing new items for the crown store they need to get sales to get future work approved.
Reduce the amount of old crap and only sell the newer items gives less choice and in theory larger sales of newer items they need to push.
Is this because the mounts and costumes are limited time runs?
It also brings an air of exclusivity because after they take it out of the store and you still have it you now have a sort of collectors item.
If you don't want to buy the mount you don't have to. The in game horse mounts work just as well.
If it has value to you, it has value to you.
I don't think anyone was saying people that buy crown items are idiots. At most I see some suggestions that maybe they should stop and ask WHY they think they want it, and if the value might be related to the threat of it being "limited time only."
It isn't the people buying things that bothers people, it's the artificial scarcity tactics driving impulse grabs.
Either way it is good for the game, UNLESS it encourages the devs to continue raising the prices on cool mounts to $40+ so only rich whales get to enjoy things.
Then the game becomes trash.

@Niastissa More like things you assume are permanent are now limited.
