Staff - Sharpened, Precise, Nirnhoned ??

So how should I craft a destroy staff? apparently with the new update sharpened is better but I have two exact same staffs one sharpened and one nirnhoned and the nirnhoned is still giving me more spell damage ?

Nirnhone is only increasing the weapon damage (spell damage) of the actual weapon

✭✭Sharpened on staff is about 10% damage increase in PvE (5k+ armor penetration 500 armor is 1% mitigation for mobs. 663 for players, which means approx 8% in PvP).
Precise is 7%, which means it's a flat 7% damage if you have 100% critical damage (+12% Minor force, +10% passive if templar/NB, +18% Shadow mundus full divines, +10% from CPs, so very specific), thus usually beaten by Sharpened.
I don't remember the exact value, but Nirnhoned provides about 100-150 spell damage unbuffed, which is absolutely crushed by Sharpened (and usually Precise as well).
Simplified math for Spell damage:
Assuming usual 40k mag / 2k5 spell damage build, your raw damage is 40,000 / 10.46 + 2,500 = 6324 actual spell damage (excluding crits).- Sharpened -> 10% increase, leads to 6965 spell damage
- Nirnhoned with Major Entropy (+20% buff) would need to give 632 spell power to compete. This is nowhere near good enough to ever actually use it.
- Precise is dependent on both your critical chance/damage and varies too much between builds.
TL;DR: Pick Sharpened
