There is a big change that came with the latest patch. Guild members without hiring/bidding right for the guild are no longer able to see the bid amount, even after the bid has close. It used to be that it would be shown on the bank history after bid close. This is no longer possible. So perhaps, its as blind as it could be now. This is a good thing, I think.

But it isn't in any way blind, and is in fact FAR less transparent for a guild's membership. I'm not a fan of this change at all.

As you bid during the week, the gold is still coming out of your guild bank. Which means that anyone paying attention can still figure out what you're bidding. All this change has done is make it so the guild membership isn't able to easily see that their investments are being used wisely. On top of that, for any guild that wants to operate with as much transparency as possible to their members, we are now forced to do that outside the game and its systems, creating more work in an area of the game where there is already very little support within the game itself.

This change does absolutely nothing to adress the issue of bid spying. The only way to effectively address that issue is for the system to hold the gold "in escrow", but not remove it from the guild bank until Monday, at trader reset time.

As to the bid time itself, I live on the West Coast. During the winter, I am up at 3:30 in the morning. That sucks, but at least there is time between maintenance and bid close to secure a back up trader when that is necessary. Now that Daylight Savings Time is back, this is no longer possible. I'm not sure how other guilds adjust for this, but for my guild it means that the other co-GM had to adjust his work schedule to be available on Monday when the server comes back online.

The bidding could close at virtually any other time, and this wouldn't be an issue. This change would be actually beneficial, rather than the change to bid viewing which does absolutely nothing to address a problem.

Can anyone think of anything that should be added to the list?

This is a very good master list.

My #1 Request: more options to limit bank withdrawals. Additional security levels to limit 1 item per day or 4 items per day or 10 items per day or unlimited To be assigned to security groups. Or different bank tabs as suggested.

    Other ideas not mentioned:

Assign permission to access each chat channel

More details in guild log who invited whom, who kicked whom.

More detail in Guild store sale Including Guild name, person bought, trader location.

More permissions and permission levels including access currently reserved only for guildmaster. To create/change tabard, edit or assign permissions, join each chat channel, edit notes (some reserved only for guildmaster should be given option for other high ranks).

Though not necessarily pro more traders, I am pro the notion in that section of the first post that talks about bidding on a city. Seems like it would decrease some of the 'villainy' I suppose. Why should one stall go for 50k and another 300k if they're right next to each other? That just irks me.

    Guild Mail tool
It's a tie between Calendar and Mail system. But due to the unique way my guild runs, I had to go with mail. Since guildies mail me to say when they have given their free werewolf bite and that is how I count all bites and rank people up in the guild. I need a system where this mail will not be deleted in the chance that I'm away for a few days, mail is deleted way too fast. And also 30 mail slots is WAY too small for people managing guilds.

On the other side, a calendar would be amazing for events and meetups. Especially if it had a tick box counter sort of thing where people will say they can attend or not.

Actually part of the purpose of the guild mail tools would be that it could LIMIT the amount of spams. Instead of addons that allow anyone in the guild to spam everyone as often as they like. If the tool was built in it could be limited to only guild leaders and I suggested a limit of how many mails per day.

A tip for the meantime to deal with the mailbox. Have your members include an item with the mails. Such as a gnawed bone, or a lockpick or anything really. You can make it part of the RP, but a mail with an item will stay for 30 days instead of 3 ;)

This used to be there. It had more info and was removed and we've never gotten any explanation of why. It is on the list but you may not have realized because we talked about bringing it back:
    Guild Roster History
Reintroduce a column on roster for the date that a member joined. This would allow leaders to recognize the dedicated/long term members.
Implement a function to show which members/officers recruited a new player to the guild. This would allow members/officers to be recognized and acknowledged for contributing to guild recruitment.

More detail in Guild store sale Including Guild name, person bought, trader location.

Thankfully most of this has been showing up in sales mails now. I find the guild name the most important since players can look up the trader location of their guilds on the guild info tab.
More permissions and permission levels including access currently reserved only for guildmaster. To create/change tabard, edit or assign permissions, join each chat channel, edit notes (some reserved only for guildmaster should be given option for other high ranks).

The tabards permission is already on the list
    Heraldry
Additional permission for “Edit Tabard Design” allowing other members/officers to design guild tabards.

But I will add now a suggestion to allow editing of the ranks for officers in the highest rank. It's a real pain if a GM is on a vacation or away and none of the other guild admin can take care of permissions tweaks.

I'm also not sure I understand what you mean about the chat permissions. Can you elaborate?

    Multiple tabs in guild bank
I posted this earlier in the Armchair Developer section

    Guild Social Tools

A set of tools to help create more social events.

Guild bulletin board: In each Tavern there is a bulletin board that you can access small notes left by players, maybe with responses. Each note will have a expiration date.

Guild calendar: A calendar can be accesses by the players in the Guild Menu. Here is where guild leaders can post meetups. You could also have it give you a reminder of events.

Guild Tithe button: Allows certain guilds to require/suggest/volunteer a monthly/weekly/or one time donation. There would then be a list of members who have donated and who did not (or how much they did donate).

Voting: Allows the guild leaders to post a message with a vote attached. The votes could be public or kept private.

Guild website hosted by ZeN: allow each guild (maybe with a certain numbers of members) to have a guild page on the Zens site. This would have some of the features above, but would also let people interact while not in the game.
Calendar, bulletin, voting: the above features could be access via the web.

Personal Crafting Writs: a player could post what type of item they would like crafted for a fee, and another guild member could take the writ and compete it.

Post your character: Have an interactive page where you can post your character for others to see. Keep the stats, skills, equipment private, or let it be public for others to research your build.

Fan Art: a place for people to post fan art.

    Bi-Monthly Guild Meetups:

Up to twice a month a guild may hold a meetup in a small instant area. This area would encourage socializing, and/or staging of a group activity. Maybe there are three of these instances themed differently but with the same functions.

Beer Garden: serving virtual drinks, playing music, dance floor, and multiple area chat channels so the conversation doesn’t get too chaotic.

Pub Games: as i mentioned above in the “Tavern” post. Some card and dice games that can be played.

Stage and Broadcast Channel: A staging area and a special channel that only the Guild Leaders can join to broadcast from. This special channel can be heard by all players in the meetup. This will allow Guild leaders to be able to stand up on a stage or platform and give announcements or talk to all members without distraction.

Event Horse Track: Surrounding the meetup area is a horse track that can be raced with guild members. Maybe obstacles in the track change per race.

    Guild Calendar
As a leader of my own guild, I highly agree with all these suggestions. Though I voted for calendars as I find it the harder to make people active within the guild due to timing, dates, and other problems. A calendar would allow people to know when events will happen and hopefully then more people will shown to RP events or pvp throw downs.

Nice list! I like the idea of polls in the mails!

Also the meetups, I hope will be available if/when they make guild halls. Those halls could include a bar and most of the other options! Guild meetings would be really great and we've asked them for this several times.

The list and talk on this post has some great ideas.

    BUT

If you look back over the last year and the direction ZOS is going you will see they have little interest in improving the "Guild" design. There have been opportunities each DLC to implement improvements for the Guild feature and we have received ZERO attention to Guilds.

As a Guild Leader I have almost given up on the hope to see true functionality for Guilds in this game!

Yeah, that was one of the suggestions. I'd love to see PVE or PVP contests. It would not be at all hard. Give guilds a week and the one whose members generate the most total AP wins. This would encourage guilds to drum up their whole membership and teach players to PVP better. Or the guild who completes the most undaunted pledges in a week. Those sort of contests would drive overall activity and teamwork in the game. We already have leaderboards and emperor status to reward the top players

I definitely wish there were improvements to the guild trader bid system. It's nearly cruel to guildmasters who have to lose sleep or take sick days to deal with bids in the morning. They pretty well have to bid because of two things: searching for open traders if a bid fails, and protecting bid information until the last second. The idea of backup bids would definitely go a long way in ensuring guilds have a fallback plan. Let guilds place bids on 3 spots, and if they don't win the highest bid, then the 2nd highest is in effect, and so on. This ensures only high bids win, and better shores up the gold sink effect of the bid system.

Additionally, the paranoia and protection of bid information is a major detraction from running a good guild. This is a problem since guild bank balances are public. I think a solution to this is to have a separate guild trader fund that is completely hidden from everyone except those with bidding access. This would allow bids to be in place early so bidders can rest a little easier and don't have to be worried about information leaking or missing the bid due to maintenance or a personal Internet/power outage.

Regarding guild traders, one problem I've had is that when going after an open trader, a guildmate with hiring permissions instead accidentally bid for the following week. This is extremely frustrating since it means knowing that you are helpless for a very long time.

A simple solution is to segregate the permissions of bidding and hiring. The UI would even easily accommodate this as shown here: ijM48Zo.png
The wording here seems most consistent with the current UI messaging since traders display "Bid on Guild Trader" and "Hire Guild Trader". This solution would help a lot in preventing accidents and ease the stress on guild leaders in the process.

Actually the simple solution to this problem we suggested is that the gold simply doesn't leave the guild bank until the bid is won. The only concern of this is what if there's not enough gold to cover the bid. This is something most guildmasters can keep track of, but they could put in a stop that prevents withdrawing gold that is needed for a bid, or simply invalidate any bid that is impossible to make or even reduce the bid to match the guild bank even if that means another guild then wins.

As for splitting the permissions, YES PLEASE.
