I think there are two valid arguments against race change:
- It can lead to abuse by players who switch to the "build of the month" for the most effective class/race combination.
- It can lead to abuse by ZOS who could nerf this race or buff that race to 'encourage' players to change their race.
all other reasons fall into the "you should play like I play" category so they're not really valid. And this is being said by someone who feels that choices should matter and that players who want to play a different race should reroll and doesn't think race change is needed.
The main reason against it in my view (apart from the whole lore aspect in an RPG of "I'm an orc today, tomorrow I'll be a wood elf") is that it affords ZOS a cop-out so far as racial passive balancing is concerned. If there are genuine concerns over individual racial passives then the way to address those concerns is for the passives to be fixed, not for players to be charged gold or crowns to switch to a different set of passives.
Do you think there it's possible for it to lead to a "You're not X race, you can't be our healer" situation?
I'm a magicka templar Redguard healer/dps now. Have run dungeons and trials with only good reviews. I'll stay a Redguard even when I have the option to change. Anyone having a problem with that is a) passing on an actual competent healer because of theory, and b) probably aren't worth running with anyways.
oh yeahhhhhhhhhhh
10,000 crowns per change please.
more revenues to Zos so they can release more bugs, ohhh btw, hackers got a 80% discount.
From reading the article I suspect it will be some sort of in game currency to use name change, appearance change and race change.
The additional hair styles etc were stated to be purchasable through the crown store, but the basics (race change, name change, app change) said it would be a token system.
There's no lore way of doing it.
Not to be "that guy", but there is.
Explain!
There's a potion maker that is working on a recipe that does race change, in the aldmeri areas. He is trying to become khajiit, I think, and manages to switch to Argonian. Been a while, don't recall the details. Also, There's the guy in the alik'r desert town that makes potions to change people into animals, in the cadwell's almanac stuff.

That was the one I wanted them to remove, how cool would it be to have no classes and just make a class based on what you mixed together. A healer with a pet... I mean that would been more of a ES way of doing it.
@altemriel Redguard is in general the best stam race for PvE and especially PvP.
Khajiit is the best race for stam DK DPS in endgame content. The difference is not that big though.
thank you for advice!! racial passives of redguards look really good, the only thing that I will not use is
Shield Affinity - Increases experience gain with the One-Handed and Shield Skill Line by 15%
I prefer using 2H sword. but nevermind, the other racial passives of redguards look great

Is there a Yelp to read for these "good reviews"?I can't believe reviews are a thing haha.
How to get an endless stream of money.
1. Put change in the crown store.
2. Nerf/buff on a regular basis.
3. Watch everyone throw money at you to change.
4. Profit.

Race change is not something that can ever be in game. There's no lore way of doing it. It will be crown store only. Keep deluding yourself that you won't have to pay for it though, see how that works out for you
