From reading the article I suspect it will be some sort of in game currency to use name change, appearance change and race change.
The additional hair styles etc were stated to be purchasable through the crown store, but the basics (race change, name change, app change) said it would be a token system.

There's no lore way of doing it.

Not to be "that guy", but there is.
I really don't understanding the argument against the race change option that is coming. Can someone explain in lamen terms for me?

I interpreted the statement that the tokens will be sold for crowns in the store.

Some people don't see the need for it and therefore don't want it.
Or they come up with RP and lore reason and thus want to confine everyone else with it.
if u race change, do u maintain ur faction?

I think there are two valid arguments against race change:
- It can lead to abuse by players who switch to the "build of the month" for the most effective class/race combination.
- It can lead to abuse by ZOS who could nerf this race or buff that race to 'encourage' players to change their race.
all other reasons fall into the "you should play like I play" category so they're not really valid. And this is being said by someone who feels that choices should matter and that players who want to play a different race should reroll and doesn't think race change is needed.
I'm going to contribute to each and every thread on this long-known and for most irrelevant topic and point out that I'm going to do precisely nothing.
Don't get me wrong, I am in favour of min-maxers having the chance to switch their characters to the favoured race of the month especially if they have to buy crowns in order to do so each time and thereby contribute to the game's funding, but I personally see no point in it.

The main reason against it in my view (apart from the whole lore aspect in an RPG of "I'm an orc today, tomorrow I'll be a wood elf") is that it affords ZOS a cop-out so far as racial passive balancing is concerned. If there are genuine concerns over individual racial passives then the way to address those concerns is for the passives to be fixed, not for players to be charged gold or crowns to switch to a different set of passives.
