It's cool to make threads about people you love.
But let's keep it to people who still play, and still play the build you are gushing on.

Or people can just do whatever they feel like doing and it shouldn't bother you to the point that you feel the need to "compromise" over something that has no effect on anything in the first place..

I'll list people from the EU server that no longer play.

Magica De Hex (Grandpa Hex.) No comment needed.

Foggy: First DK i saw solo wipeing full raids of high VR players.

    Voslin: (This ***): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxBlMayv12M

Bipolo: Crazy frontline DK on EP, i still remember how all PuGs arround us would die and in the end we just went our own seperate ways since it would take to long if we kept on fighting eacother.

Mist form should work still like that, also speed should be +50% at least.. You can't fight zergs now, you can't fight smaller groups now (in most scenarios - poisons will rekt u) so at least bring back old mist form to have some tool to escape as mDK templar!!!

    But it won't change much..

This game evry patch is worse and worse..

I loged in 2 days ago on my sorc, got some nice 1 vs x, was even funny. But only valid EU campaign is TF which starts to lag at 2 pm... I instantly loged off when i started to be eaten be zeglings swarms and got rekt by lag cause my blink didnt work..

Zergs were never so strong like in this patch, thank you ZOS for this brilliant ***, small scale is almost dead. Evry1 hits like a truck.. More and more you favourize scrubs/casuals, with sharpened changes you gave them tool to esly *** good pvpers, personal skill means nothing now, cause one random potato will hit you with 15k focused aim with his 5k wpn dmg = 99% game over for u (with 3.3k crit resist btw)..

Poisons, insane dmg, broken penetratrion, malubeth stacking with major mending/vitality, *** impenetrable and so on..

I am playing this game since beta, but I think finally it's game over for me, I give up, you are worst developers ever @ZOS!

I need to agree with all those ppls who Qq about game state long b4 me and at the same time apologize to them, you had right, there is no hope to this game.

I like the part how only streamers and video spammers are listed.

The best players in ESO dont record videos, they dont need to. Their reputations speak for themselves.

    Thats all.

Some do, some don't. Uploading or streaming does not determine this. To make blanket statements like "The best players in ESO don't record videos" is simply misguided.

I can atleast personally speak to the skill level of Asgari, Sypher and Vir Cor as I've played with and against these guys. They are all monsters in their own right and to try to diminish that because they are visible by the community is unfair.

Most of the names listed are mediocre to decent, and mostly stand out today because so many that were actual pioneers and stalwarts of the class, left.

I have a deep rooted hatred of lauding praise on people who are only "famous" because they posted a video of wrecking a bunch of noobs with bats, shuffle rockclimbing, or something similar, any competent DK can do that. Fanboyism is probably my biggest peeve with the playerbase of ESO. Many people get props they never actually deserved. If I had a dollar for every epic moment I never captured on video, all the streamboys would think I was some amazing ball of win as well, but I am not that vain. Nor do I consider myself a top echelon DK player, maybe another class.

Hell half of that list itself, they dont even play mDK anymore, they went FOTM meta and abandoned theirs. Vir Cor is the only one I recognize who as of anytime recent has been on one, and his is mostly tank with very little spank. Unless something changed drastically in the last month I am unaware of, none of these DKs are particularly "dangerous"

Some good players sure, know their class, but to laud them as some kind of ESO hall of fame? Hardly. The very first thing that came to mind is where the hell is BBQ, probably the best DK to ever play ESO. He doesnt make videos. Hell Aegon is better than most of these guys, and I dont even like him. Spade a spade though.

and now i understand why sub doesnt like you xD

Ye. Ive never tried to be anything I am not. I will gladly call out cronyism and BS when i see it, and people dont like that. The vast majority of threads like these, and the associated responses are done by 1 DC guild, 1 EP guild, and a former AD guild. They have always circle jerked each other about how awesome they are, but from their ivory tower they miss everything else going on around them. Only a handful of them even play the game more than once a month now, too.

Are these players good? Absolutely, even I have to admit that. Are they the best ever? No. Are they the best playing today? Also no. The majority of the truly skilled/best players are footnotes in ESO history now. Sadly. But I remember them all, and it pains me to see second string acting like they are better than first string ever was.

Hell we have crossed into a twilight zone in ESO PvP where the former practice squads have become the starters because all the good players left. Let that sink in for a minute and for once someone might understand my cynicism towards this kinda stuff. I was around when the best of the best played, played actively and hard. Todays meta and playerbase doesnt hold a candle to what we had back in Wabba and Dawnbreaker. Sorry for the reality check on that, but good players? Maybe today because the ones that used to overshadow them are no long here casting those shadows.

You can't compare pre 1.6 to post 1.6 unless the players are still here. It's a totally different game, with post 1.6 more catered towards groups while pre 1.6 was about single players having infinite ultimate to be able to take on the numbers they did.

The OP in this case is a console player and hence he wasn't able to witness pre 1.6 players playing so he has nothing to base his opinion on but what he sees before him.

I have witnessed some skilled players from the pre 1.6 era come back and they couldn't play in this meta. Does this mean they are bad players? no. I have seen players do amazing things in this meta, does this mean they are good players? probably. Can you compare the two? no.

I'm gonna have to agree here.

I will also argue that 1.0 - 1.2 doesn't really count either. The game was so ridiculously broken at that time.

Patches 1.3 thru 1.5 were a completely different game than the post 1.6 game we have now.

I miss Agrippa. He was a leader both online and offline.

I would put any mDK from the glory days that remained an mDK through all the garbage changes on my honor wall.

Agrippa had an intensity that no one can match, and I've played most of my time in pvp with Bulb as a raid lead. I never had a chance to play with Agrippa as a lead but even just having him in a group was amazing!

ya'll are like them 28 year olds that are sitting at the bar saying:

"man i was soooo cool back in the 12th grade!"

time to move on. Ive seen some things from members on that list of "most epic mDKs on the planet" that was straight exploitation. It literally led me to my first emperorship feuding with one of those guys for straight cheating. For the sake of the forum's strict anti shaming policy i cant call them out here but i have video recordings of the kind of crap that was being done. That person doesnt get my respect and my eyes roll so far back in my skull over the circle jerking i see here over that individual.

and i agree with whoever said the game is a totally different beast now than it was. I highly doubt the old players could even keep up with today's meta. so many abusable skills were straight nerfed. sure some still exist and that whole CE debacle was sad, but i really feel like old players, unless they stayed up with the times, couldnt handle today's ESO. its like that DC pvp guild that rerolled EP that starts with an "E" and ends iwth a "J" that tried to make a big comeback and no one cared.

ultimately, i guess its fair for everyone to reminisce and gush over their past heroes but ESO is just hitting its stride. You can live in the past, or forge a future.

Sure. but the egos go both ways. at the end of the day: youre only as good as your last hit. you dont stay with the times, you give up your championship belt, well, you cant really complain can you?

I love the stories where the king returns to set the record straight. but there are a lot of "big names" that burnt out way too fast and left the game salty way too early to be considered "kings of the craft" so to speak. mDKs were abused at launch. to think of those times as the "heyday of eso" is absurd. mDKs today work a lot harder today than the mDKs from launch. I feel like that deserves a little recognition, dont you?

What's wrong with a little nostalgia? Magicka DK's have a few neat things they can do, but it's a DPS spot better filled by a magicka Templar or magicka NB. But back in the ESO of release - 1.6 ... our potential was only limited by the player behind the DK. It was glorious fun. Don't get me wrong, it was hilariously easy from release until 1.3. But after 1.3 ... it was beautiful. Too bad ZoS hates nice things.

    nothing. nothing wrong at all.

but it gets to a certain point when you have to grow up and stop reminiscing about high school, bro.

ESO isn't hitting its stride. It's past its prime. And we aren't the ones that forge the future of the game, because the PvP developers (ARE THERE EVEN ANY EXCEPT WROBEL?) could care less about the feedback of their most dedicated players.
