You can get a spammable Magicka DPS skill, but people resent having a destruction staff nailed into their hands to get it.

I don't have a problem with it. But other People want to shoot spammable spells out of a sword or a two handed axe. They could in the last patch with trapping webs, but now that's gone (and nobody uses it anywhere, good job @Wrobel)

People want diversity in the look and feel of the class.

May I ask what you are running gear wise. I recently changed my build to try something new,

Went with a 5 piece Lich set
And 5 piece VD
And willpower rings/neck

Not played a lot tho as I am on holiday abroad atm but it's good for small scale and duels

Yeah sorcerers are in a bad state currently noticeably the weakest class in the game and outclassed in most content. but still Sorcs aren't bad I mean I still tare in up in PVP we just lack the skills that every other class has. for a game that often spouted a play as you want mentality I guess sorcs were left out on that

I still believe no matter what race / class you play, the bottom line is skill. I have a friend who can pull 35k dps in raids but still can't beat vmsa.

Shields are not useless man, you just need to practice more with them.
Try a destruction staff with force pulse (morph to crushing shock) for your spam ability.

Best way to get zos to buff sorcs is for everyone to stop playing the class. It's pretty much a useless class atm

Sorc is fine in pvp, at least in raids I dont run solo. Shields, negates, god cc and ok dps and heal with staffs. Shield nerf hardly matters in battle situations. Finnally sorc still have 3 bars not 2 as other classes.

Easy as pie... 4 lich (Still working on the fifth), 1 kena, 3 willpower (1 arcane 2 healty Since you cannot trust shields all the time) and 4 magnus.

The skills are the usual resto/destro sorcerers skills but i keep the ward in the front bar (easy cast if needed) and instead of entropy i use surge ( more heals are always welcome even if weak and i can keep it always up without a target )

Due to the shields change i have 3 pcs impenetrable and i'm good to go.

I play all 4 the classes and this is the main reason why i feel that sorcerers are not underpowered they have just a different playstile, and with the nerfs a sorcerer is more similar to the other classes, you win and you die without be a pvp god.

There's nothing wrong with magika Sorcerers, people need to play the class differently now.

Surge is fine
Crystal Fragments should only be used on proc for the best chance of a hit
Spamable DPS skills aren't in tune with the nature of a magika sorcerer, stack damage on your opponents using a combo combo such as: Boundless Storm, Velocious Curse, Shattering Prison, liquid lightning, Medium Staff attack into crushing shock, endless fury and frag proc.. or: overload on, boundless storm, shattering prison, liquid lightning, overload, overload, endless fury, overload, overload.

You will complete all pve group content (except trials which are untested) and vMA whilst being powerful in PVP using Julianos/kena/willpower with no issues, very little has changed in reality.

Shields were OP.
Shields are not useless.

Good players will be keeping there shield up every ~6 seconds anyway.
As a sorc, pre-patch, I had to put my shield up after ~6 seconds or I was dead.

See it like this, after you put your shield up, you go in offensive mode and you have ~6 seconds to burst your target down, otherwise you have to switch to defense, put shield(s) up, heal, streak or find line of sight, etc.)

If you can't burst someone down in ~6 seconds, there is something wrong in your timing, and/or your build.

The biggest danger now, in my opinion, is getting caught with your shields down by a ganker.
but sorcs have the best protection agains't that: Defensive Rune.

If you struggle in switching bars, you can always move Hardened War on your first bar.

Sorcerer's killer burst damage combo is still the same!
(Other than if you used Magicka detonation, but this isn't a nerf specific to that class)

Destro staff - Crushing Shock?

You don't use this to KILL, but to keep pressure and to proc your Crystal Frag.
It's still do decent damage, plus it interrupts! (Use it wisely! It's always great fun interrupting Engine Guardians left and right!)

They needed a nerf. A good sorcerer shield stacking behind there mines was pretty much unkillable.
Shield was OP.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they brought the shield duration back to ~20 seconds.
BUT make them critable as I always thought they should of been.

Say all you want, but sorcerer are still viable.
Offensively, they haven't changed much and they still have better survivability than say the stamblade everyone's complaining about.

Sorcerer still have:
-Great mobility (Streak & Boundless Storm)
-Great defensives abilities (Daedric Mines, Defensive Runes, Hardened Ward)
-Great Burst (that never changed!)

Sorc is my main also with an ungodly amount of hours, I do genuinely think the sorc situation is being blown out of proportion and I don't think people will be happy until ZOS bring out an actual mage rather than a summoner. Sorcs have 3 bars, Overload that hits for 8k minimum against all in pvp who don't reflect, good cc, half decent class heals, nice execute, great mobility, class shield that is still 10 seconds long, .. You see what I'm getting at though, the class is far from destroyed shield stacking was destroyed forcing people to play differently.

No shield stacking was not destroyed. crit builds where destroyed.

That still doesn't make shield unusable.

Even pre-patch, I never shield stack during a fight.
It was either Hardened Ward OR Harness Magicka, depending on who I was fighting. (+ Healing Ward)
1- It costed too much to keep both up all the time.
2- Harness Magicka was useless versus a stamina build
3- Less time putting shield up, the more time you can put pressure to proc your c-frag and combo your opponent down.

I'll be honest, I barely played my sorcerer since the new patch, but I haven't had to change my playstyle much.
I was still able to burst people down and get away from situation I would not be able to get away from with my nightblade or my templar.

I'm just bored of playing sorcerers in general. Always the same combo. But that's another issue.

Wut? As an altmer sorcerer i have 39k magika 3.2k spell damage buffed and 1.5k regen.
Is a quite balanced build that does not one shot ppl, but have a decent offensive pressure and sustain, plus i use poison in the back bar (increase cost of stamina+magika) and a prismatic enchant on the offensive, if you are a vampire you get one shotted and if not you gonna have a bad time 1v1.

I will try even a clever alchemist + magnus + kena + willpower at some point but for now i like how my sorcerer works

Rofl at Sorcs being useless. Literally the only ClassI have trouble killing is Sorcs. I can deal with cloaked NBs, stam DKs, mag Templars but with sorcs? No way man. N o w a y. Geting close to them? They streak away. Beating on them? They shield up. And don't even get me started on the overload.

Technically the overall cost of maintaining empowered ward increased up something like 180% compared to last patch which ruined traditional shield stacking and streaking for PVP sorcs as resources deplete much quicker. I still see unkillable sorcs and i still encounter devastatingly powerful ones in PVP, i find my own pvp power to be acceptable and i've even melted some well known pvpers with my overload in a non gank fashion.

At PvP Sorcs are amazing. I only play Sorc and I am happy as a PvP Sorc.

BUT, I despise what they've done with shields because it has a HUGE impact on PvE. I am never gonna forgive them for that. Not to mention useless Daedric Summoning and Dark magic skills which are just getting in the way of PvE. Now, some smart-ass will show up telling how amazing Daedric chickens are but that's not what majority of players think. There have been complaints about that since Beta and ZOS doesn't give a crap about that. -.-'

Destruction staff just needs serious buffing, especially passive wise and force shock as an active part. Maybe the force shock master weapon that comes next brings this needed buff.

Bolt Escape penalty needs to be reduced to 2 seconds from 4 seconds and Sorcerer needs better tools to approach the army of reflective targets and all the dodging. Sorcerers can be totally dominated by any DK who takes care of their scales, because Sorcerer can't pressure targets like these.

To me, magicka Sorcerer is the easiest class to kill in pvp, because they have no ways to avoid damage, they only have a shield (which was nerfed too hard, at least 8 or 10 s base duration would have been enough nerfing) and are forced to take all hits.
DKs have scales, Templars have a great class purge, Nightblades have many evasive abilities. Sorcerer can't avoid any damage, I simply need to spam everything I have on a sorc and the first CC will kill him.

Shields in pve are far from broken Aliniel, they're for high pressure situations and not a 45k damage buff that gets reapplied every 20 seconds anymore (like shields used with every other class that has one). The twilight is the most underated PVE skill at present, when using the twilight you're essentially part templar capable of 15k heals for something silly like 2.5k magika and it does 1k dps lol. Adjust playstyles and you will enjoy in pve again

i don't support the whole "sorc dead" QQ, but wtf are you gonna say? "bursty" and then you list several dots, unreliable damage of an inferior morph (shattering) and multiple times the number-one noob ability (petbuilds, extra bars, and careful non-spammy use aside), overload.

Again, I don't agree with OP but you really shouldn't tell other people they "need to learn how to play the class correctly" and then follow up with a semantically incoherent list of ***. and nope, the formatted list does not help here.

Finally you bring up your PvE accomplishments. Please have another look at the topic title.
As for bragging rights, I did flawless during the orsinium patch.
