The bold part is your problem. Where did ZOS ever say there was going to be a Japanese server? The only thing I've seen anywhere is some deluded players making assumptions that there would be one. What the people in this thread are saying isn't this:

That's a big difference. Just because some players made assumptions, that doesn't mean the people pointing out now that there was never anything official about a Japanese server are "backpedalling" as you put it. Go back and look at which players assumed that there would be a Japanese server. Do you see any of those players posting in this thread saying there was never going to be one?

What I'm seeing is a whole lot of after the fact "Oh we always knew there wasn't going to be a Japanese server" when there was nary a contradictory peep from these same people when everyone was hyped up about the idea.

I didn't ever see where people were hyped up about the idea... I haven't really been on the forums in the last couple of months, though, due to work being way too busy. So how many threads and how many posts are we talking about when you say "everyone was hyped up about the idea"?

I don't remember a Japanese Server being announced... But I do remember a Chinese (server or client) not sure which was announced recently.

Is the OP someone who recently got banned? Or are there multiple people on here with those types of characters in their forum name?
