You realize the game was marketed like crazy for PVP before it was launched. That is why many people bought the game. It was suppose to have huge PVP elements in it. That is why even in PVE areas you get PVP notifications.

For me there were are different reasons, some based on what's been said in this thread. But I'm willing to see how this whole One Tamriel thing plays out.
But now main issue is after hitting CP 160, I've lost motivation to progress since I'm not going to use any of the gear I get in drops. I don't want to change the way my armor looks with specific motifs. I spent gold and time in getting the look I want and I'll be damned if I'm going to use some random drop. Even when all the drops are upgrades for me. Now if I could at least change the look of the armor to any motif I currently know, I would have zero issues.
And if I upgrade all my crafted gear, well that's great. Now what's my motivation to run dungeons? I like upgrading and hunting for better gear, but that part is lacking for me. Once I level up one more guy, I'm sure I'll park him and/or finish the DLC's.
I really really want to continue playing this game. It's so amazing in so many ways. I sit there and think and wonder what the hell I was doing in WoW all those years.
Would be cool if you could use the Mimic stones on existing gear.

I cancelled my sub a while back and took about a year off - came back to the game and resubbed for the craft bag, crowns, and DLCs and honestly am having a complete blast playing again.
I don't really care about PVP, so all the issues with cheating and doing 8 less DPS than the other guy really amounts to nothing for me.
I have no real lag issues, have only seen a few minor bugs, and only one broken quest since my time back. But then again, my entire existence doesn't revolve around what ZoS does or doesn't do.
This mindset that it is limited to PVP is so bogus and speaks to a lack of understanding/comprehension/effort. People were bumped from the VMA leaderboards (PVE content) by people who were cheating. That means people did not get a chance at the weapon or jewelry they earned. People to this day could be doing a leaderboard qualifying run and continue to be kicked off the board by folks cheating. Same with the trials. Its not just a PVP issue.
I think you missed the bigger picture here.
I'm aware that cheating spills over to PVE as well as the issues with PVP, and essentially affects the greater community. My point is that if you are willing to quit because you aren't on the VMA leaderboard and don't get a weapon or piece of jewelry so your "toon" can be more "e-awesome" than the guy beside you, it may be time to take a step back and adjust your priorities.
I've been on this earth a long time - I find that there will always be cheaters, exploiters, bots, etc. If you let them ruin your enjoyment then the terrorists win. You will not find a game MMO or otherwise that cannot be exploited. To take your toys home and quit because of it is just, well silly.
The problem isn't that there are cheaters, the problem is that Zos are letting these guys off with temp bans and not implementing anything to stop them. Seriously you can go download CE now and use it and as long as you don't go dropping 100 meteors on someone and get recorded you will get away with it.
And if you do get caught big deal a temp ban so what..

That, and the belief that permanently banned players have had their bans lifted remain pure conjecture and rumour so far as I can see. I accept that ZOS need to communicate over this more, and in particular it would doubtless help if they implemented the publication of the number and type of bans issued each week or month, as they indicated was a reasonable proposition.

Anyone got a link to the interview where he states this?
Seen it referenced a couple of times on the forums since I came back to the game but I cannot find it anywhere.
EDIT:
Found it!

He didn't say that.
He says that their metrics show people leaving and coming back a lot and that you don't so much see the "hardcore" constant play gamer as much since they removed the subscription model. He simply commented on the way the metrics have changed since subscriptions went away, but folks are treating it like he's denying they even exist and therefore deserve no consideration.
His wording is poor, admittedly, but he's commenting on the trend in general, not denying a subgroup of players exist.

Wouldn't really change anything.
If they told you they dished out 100 temp-bans and 35 perma-bans, they wouldn't be able to tell you who received what or why without violating their own naming and shaming policy.
So you'd have a pair of numbers and no context. bfd

That isn't what he said. Maybe he expressed himself incorrectly, but he wasn't talking trends. He stated categorically that you don't see hardcore players, and by that he said he meant players who play 6 months at a time.
In any case that's irrelevant. Firstly because that doesn't change what he said afterwards about future DLCs being developed to cater to the on-and-off demographic (which is fair enough, but as I've said before, isn't what I expected and doesn't appeal to me personally);
secondly because, in my case at least, that was only the tipping point. My decision to drop the sub was also based on other reasons that I've already given.

Pretty much this^^^
I have played this game pretty much every day since launch. ZOS won't mis me, but perhaps they will miss the roughly $300/ per year I have given them in subscriptions and crown store fluff I have purchased.
I feel a bit stupid caring as much as I do about a game who's creator cares so little about it's customer base. It's a shame really because this game could have had legs.
This, so much this. Been here since early launch, subbed all the way through, reading Matt's words was extremely weird. A little insulting and hurtful, and almost judgemental with a "waste of time" flavor. Even my husband addresses my ESO addiction in a nicer way.
With ESO+ expiring in 10 days, i'm in turmoil. At $80 a pop twice a year, i don't think i feel welcome anymore. Haven't unsubbed yet, but Matt's comment made me feel seriously uncomfortable.
I love this game dearly, and people that i play with. Do you really wanna hurt me? ® :'(
I am not trying to do anything beyond providing informative posts. I don't see why that should be grounds for locking a thread, it's simply a screen cap of threads over the last 10 pages of General Discussion. Click out of Page 1 and go see for yourself. It would be a different story if ZOS deleted the threads and I was posting saved screens, but that's not the case.ShedsHisTail wrote: »@HoloYoitsu

You would do better job sending the news to ZOS directly. Not that it makes a difference but you are their customer so it concerns them more than the forum community..
