It is also entirely possible for the game to be balanced between PvP and PvE.
Do not fault PvP for ZOS' incompetence in balancing their game. Their methods have been consistently poor and half-assed. That doesn't make PvP bad for the game.
If they would balance player skills and sets around PvP and then balance PvE mobs, zones, and encounters around the resulting player characters, then all would be well. The problem is that ZOS balances for PvE first, then uses band-aid fixes for PvP, breaks something that never should have been broken to begin with, and then nerfs it for both PvP and PvE.
Why put anything into health if the shield scales off max stamina? Having the shield scale off max health is better for diversity. You want a bigger shield? Stack more health. We shouldn't be limited to just maxing stam for survivability IMO

Yup. ZOS should also have found a way to drop that stupid mechanic from mag Sorcs' shield and compensate them in some other way. Rolling all defense and offense into one stat just doesn't work. Not in this game, anyway.This is primarily a PvP game -- or at least it was developed with that intent.
Uh, no. Never was, never will be. See, this is one of the reasons PvErs tend to be so annoyed with the PvP crowd. As soon as there is just a smidge of PvP in a game, it is declared "primarily a PvP game" and "suck it up, carebears". Stuff it already.

Stam DKs shielding up is not something we need. I like that builds with very high health can use a damage shield and that it has strong synergies (the point of Undaunted).

I get the fear about a stamina shield, but like others have posted the Stam player isn't going to dump that many points into +barrier as they give up too much thus a 5,000-7500 max dmg shield isn't even that bad. And maintaining Dodge roll, Shield, Rally, Vigor etc is going to be too heavy of a drain on their resources not even counting the new poisons.
I didn't see a problem with the shield but w/e, it's ZOS's game. I do fine without a shield already, I thought it would be useful for new pvp'ers before they get Vigor tho. Cause Rally alone isn't enough.

Bolt escape doesn't make you immune to damage for 3 seconds (as dodge roll does)
Blocking on a magicka build makes you die to stun since you can block a total of like 4 attacks before 0 stamina (and bad regen too, no coming back from it)
Break free also has no magicka counter-part and is a major weakness of magicka builds.
If you think dodge/break free/block are so bad, why would you even argue against this?
Just be like, "Ok, ya, let's have dodge, block, and break free use your highest stat"
Problem solved.
Hell, you can even have shields and my sorc can lose our class shield _AND_ bolt escape! how's that for a sweet deal?
