To the Khajiit who stole my chest loot...

So you see, absent activities that identify selfish twits, in cases where the loss is minimal, such people would only be identified at the worst of times. Cherish the chest stealing mechanic and always, always make sure your book of deeds is within reach.

    Exactly!!!

Your post highlights the problem of the mudcrab dibs entirely. Player A decides due to arbitrary rationale x17 he is entitled to what is actualky open resource. When pleyer B accesses saidcresource, player A invokes the self-appointed notuce of aggrievement and then wsits for a chance to take revenge.

    Later on, they get revenge.

And then see this as a good thing and a rule to follow and promote.

If instead, the mudcrab dibs on open loot was laughed at and everyone recognized the diff between open resource and on-kill resources, player A the guild would not be bringing such a negative as long waiting "revenge" for self-percieved offenses into the game.

IMO the game isnt helped by reinforcing self-defined offenses and long term payback into daily activity.

IMO if both sides saw the open resource as just that, an open resource to be taken not claimed, then whoever got the goods that days both sides head off and go on to have fun, no need for holding onto that grudge for so long.

    Thanks. Very helpful.

Can only hope the guild (apocryphal or not) eventually learned to just relax and enjoy playing more than wracking up black marks to use in their book of revenge-to-be-served-petty.

Life is just too short imo to carry that much for something so trivial.

There is no offense too small to be ignored. There is no "equality" there is only Myself and those around me that need to recognize my superiority.

They need to understand when they see, "Shenronnacht" that space is to be given and roads to be crossed. For my Wrath is unbound and unlimited, there is no water to quell the flames of eternal rage.

Edit: I was over exaggerating for comedic effect... I thought it was funny...

A friend and I were lucky enough to orchestrate a reversal of fortune for one unsuspecting loot thief.

I had just introduced said friend to the game that day, so he was still trying to get the hang of lockpicking. Inside the Wayrest bank, I pointed out a lockbox behind the bag merchant. As the bag merchant doesn't move and the guard is only in the room briefly, he decided to take a stab at it even though it was a Master chest. I served as lookout while he made two failed attempts.

Then a CP100-ish player snagged the chest from my lvl 10 friend after that second attempt. He also failed.

My friend made another attempt, while the would-be loot thief looked on. The guard began moving towards the door so I told him to back off. "The guard is coming. Let the other guy get caught." He paused and looked about as if he were still on cooldown (the second or so before you can attempt to pick a lock again).

Sure enough, the other player took the bait. The lockbox was behind the bag vendor's desk, so he couldn't see the guard and the guard couldn't see him...yet. My friend and I chanted together, "Fail. Fail. Fail," hoping for him to fail the box and get caught. He succeeded in picking the box and as he stood to loot it, the guard spotted him. Whatever he got, must have been good, because he opted to flee.

He sprinted for the door and I thought he was home free, his hand gesturing for the door. Then the Talons appeared around his feet and a second guard joined the fray. The fight didn't last much longer and the CP100-ish who stole a lockbox from my lvl 10 friend died, forfeiting his ill-gotten gains and a bit of his own gold in the process, never once suspecting that same lvl 10 of setting him up.

Been there with this, or with a lock box crouched waiting for NPC to turn away and not be detected only to have at the very moment I become am finally about to be hidden someone else run up and not even bother to try to avoid the bounty and hide stealing it. Not like they can claim they did not see me there.

On the other side of the coin last night in Hew's Bane I saw a Rune stone, but noticed someone fighting the MOB's around it so I stood there and waited not wanting to steal the stone. He killed the MOB's and ran off leaving the stone which I then collected and my good karma from waiting to see if it was his paid off in a Kuta.

I spotted one of those bandit chests the other day, you know the random spawn ones that have a visible bandit fiddling with the chest, then another one that spawns behind you when the first is defeated.

Some ... insert expletive here... dashed in whilst I was fighting the second bandit and took the chest. I know there wasn't likely to be much of value in it, but I was utterly fuming - so rude. May he get painful warts on his lock-picking fingers. :s

If I'm at a chest or raw material location and there is another player nearby, who probably hasn't seen the chest, I often shoot my arrows or scorch earth at the chest trying to signal to the other player to get it. Pretty much every time I do that, the other player leaves. There is not really a way to communicate to someone to go ahead and take something. It should be added to the emotes. I keep thinking the other player is probably thinking who is this crazy idiot, each time I shoot my flurry of arrows to where the chest is at. Lol!

I've actually met one Khajiit in IC that didn't loot the chest

Are you sure it was a Khajiit?? Something doesnt add up in that sentence... ;)

I'm very positive it was a Khajiit, I even remember it was a female, lol. This one was probably an exception.

I do it a lot. I mean, even if somebody is busy clearing the mobs, etc near a resource node or chest, I always check the contents of the node/chest. I grab the valuables like Nirncrux/Kutas/Set stuff and leave the rest of the guy.
I don't it for the gold though. I do it for RPing my trouble-maker Khajiit thief.

I just use light attacks with whatever weapon I carry, to show them to the chest - most do get it though. With a resto staff I poke at the player and then at the chest...

When I grind in sewers, I don't bother picking up chests if I have others around me - they get them all. Specially if I farm tel var stones and some guildie or friend is tagging along to half my income and double their xp, I usually let them have all the chests lol

When I'm alone and without a guildie or friend to keep me company, I usually use chests to distract randoms who follow me. I let them take the chest and run 2 rooms ahead and continue my grind from there... very effective :p
