I've actually met one Khajiit in IC that didn't loot the chest that spawns mobs and constains nice amount of Tel Var stones. Just approached it as I was in combat, opened it but the loot remained! I thanked him and appreciated his action, he's told me that he thought it is my chest so he's left the content inside.

I've expressed my gratitude and sent him around 10k of gold as I was completely stunned by that nice move. He even returned the mail... bruh I was so done

This one has already denied the involvement in this.

Why would this one steal from one little chest in the mud when there is a whole castle full of the handkerchiefs waiting there for Khajiit?

Oh come on now.. there are plenty of treasure chests. I get guys sneaking in to take my chests all the time. I just think it's funny. Especially, while I'm engaged in a fight with an enemy or enemies nearby the chest, someone sneaks in to open and takes the loot. I says whatever, and I go to the next chest locations. I didn't care so much that he or she didn't help in the fight. Being V16 for awhile, there's not many enemies in PvE I couldn't dispatch quickly on my own. It would be different if I was lower ranking and taking on much higher ranking enemies, and that looter didn't lend a hand and just went straight to the chest and then leaves. I see it, and I think many others also see it as fun harmless competition to go after chests and other raw materials... I guess to see who can get to it first. As I would not take a chest or raw materials that someone is already there.. heck, I would offer it to you if I'm there, and suddenly you show up, even if I had just opened the chest. I can see your frustration, though. It could be petty to just take someone's chest from right under their nose. You can look at it positively or negatively.

I *sort* of hoped the extreme and silly nature of the insults would signpost my comedy outrage. ;)

But you are quite right, of course, life is too short to get too aeriated over this kind of incident. It was the bare-faced cheek which amused and astonished me. ^^

Actually, my SO, who was watching at the time and doesn't play mmos, was MUCH more infuriated than me. "OMG, go and *** him up!! Tell his mates what a *** he is!!!" That kind of thing.

I had to explain the difference between PvE and open-world PvP, about letting things go and oddly, about tea-bagging. Then we were philosophical about how some people were nice and some people weren't and Khajiit just steal things.

But yes, you win some, you lose some. Sometimes your bags are just too full.

You want to rectify that? Stand over the chest or node while killing the mobs. Most of the mobs in the game have some sort of aoe attack so theres a good chance that the other player will get hit while trying to pilfer the node or chest if you stand right over it.

You know, ZOS should really look at having some loot keyed to kills.

That way someone couldnt steal loot from you because once you started dueling with that mudcrab, its assigned loot would be yours. They would have to help you kill the mudcrab to gain access to the loot.

There could still be free standing loot such as found in bags and crates and barrels and whatever we call those things with locks. Those would still be earned by getting to them and taking whats inside.

But this way, ZOS could help stop some of the nsme calling and player bashing. Once both types of loot were supported in game, wouldnt be reasonable to start name calling when someone got free standing loot while you got kill-locked loot.

Its not like sticking an arrow in a mudcrab suddenly calks dibs on every resource node within sight, right?

I remember in Wrothgar i went for a chest. Had gotten this chest many times. Troll paces nearby. You csn grab the chest all day, troll never stops you. One day showed up for chest. Some fella was fighting troll. I walked up to get chest, got it, chat box filled up with cussing. Seems other guy had decided since he was fighting troll he owned the chest and i guess everything in sight. Surprised he didnt want toll for me using his wayshrine.

This kinda thing could be avoided if ZOS just figured out how to tie loot to kills in some way.

Then there would be both very distinct types and no reason for confusion.

No reason to promulgate the mudcrab dibs on everything in sight nonsense.

Ah, but you are as short sighted as I once was. Mechanics such as these are necessary to identify O'Tools over inconsequential losses.

Once upon a time, in a dimension far, far away, something quite similar happened to our guild at the end of a difficult boss fight whilst still young and learning in a newly released world. The guild matron calmed us all down and promised that one day we would see all made right. While somewhat conflicted, said matron was perfect in every way and we obeyed her command, as always.

Six months later... We had each come of age and were as powerful as any other. The time had come to challenge the greatest evil in the land and bring honor to our realm. No other had yet defeated this evil and many believed that if any could do so, it was our guild. However, though mighty, our guild was not quite large enough to face the evil's companions in addition to the evil itself. Word went out to the other mighty guilds of the land that we intended to take the fight into the deepest plane of hell and applicants flocked to our banner in droves.

One particular applicant, named O'Tool, came from a mighty guild and had been included without question in our group. When our matron awakened from her slumber and joined us, without so much as a good morning, she declared that O'Tool could not venture forth on this grand affair. Although amazed at this turn of events, our matron was our matron, and our group leader carried out the implied order before the word "venture" had fully left the matron's lips.

We watched on in amazement, for O'Tool had some renown and had already been accepted, and the matron enforced hospitality with a velvet covered iron fist. We watched silently as O'Tool proclaimed with a pained voice that this was not fair, he was of an alliance guild, of known might and had need of a great weapon that this evil was said to possess. Our matron announced in a soft, calm voice (as she always spoke): "Consulting the Great Book of Deeds, under the heading 'Bad Deeds,' on June 3rd of the first year of this wonderful world, you O'Tool received a Grand Sword of Destruction from the great boss Tool Attractor." O'Tool responded with amazement , "that is true, how did you know that???" Our Matron responded, "I know this because your deeds are recorded here, in the Great Book of Deeds. Within this entry, it also clearly recounts that this guild, and not you, killed the Great Boss Tool Attractor. Nor were you a member of our group" A silence fell that soon became akward until the matron continued. "Unfortunately, good sir, until you appear in the Great Book of Atonement at least five times, you must leave and may not travel with us on any grand adventures."

A great kerfuffle arose amongst the other guilds of the alliance, without our knowledge, as we were well known for fairness to our detriment, as enforced by the matron, who was beloved by all. Apparently, in recounting his dismissal from group, O'Tool inadvertently forgot the reason for the boot and stated that he was as bewildered as anyone else and that he had done nothing to deserve this fate. Much to his amazement, a different member of his guild that he considered a friend and was privy to the discussion, recounted the reason and reminded O'Tool that he had been told the reason. Although our guild was never formally apprised of the details, O'Tool was not within any member guild by the end of the week. Not because of the incident recorded in the Great Book of Deeds, but apparently due to his dishonesty following dismissal from group (and nobody really liked him anyway, they suffered him for his skill). Not long after I was told that he had departed for a different dimension and world.

So you see, absent activities that identify selfish twits, in cases where the loss is minimal, such people would only be identified at the worst of times. Cherish the chest stealing mechanic and always, always make sure your book of deeds is within reach.
