An old Dracane QQ thread ,did just before 1.6 release .This is the proff that we must test on live things for a while before making any sentence, he would have discovered that a full light sorc hardened warded , would have been far better than any full heavy tank , except for full nirn one, in terms of protection.

    Agree with you
and yes... Thread is from January 29

We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU

This was based on short combat observation, the sustain between light armor and heavy armor is almost the same, but heavy armor provides more resistance. It's still a bit silly, that heavy armor provides more spell resistance, but that was because I was used to light armor granting more spell resistance and then suddenly this was no longer the case. At that point, nobody knew, that shields would become so essential for light armor users and would compensate for the lower resistance of light armor. Previously they weren't as important as in 1.6

Light armor received a buff with the recent update and its defensive aspect is now more in line with the other 2. So this topic here can be ignored

If light armour should give the most spell res, then the damage bonuses should be removed since heavy only provide physical res and nothig more unlike light armour.

Not anymore. Heavy armor should give more spell resistance than light armor, that's fine.

I tried to read through the posts but it seems everybody is just a little slow or something. The point is that this is a perfect example of "everybody wearing the same gear" because there is no reason not to. Of course heavy armor should have high resistance, but it shouldn't be trumping the other armors to the point where there is no reason to use them. This is a video game. There needs to be balance and variety. I use medium armor, I don't really care about this all that much but when I started reading the replies to the OP's post I couldn't help but start feeling I like I was surrounded by idiots. Heavy Armor should give the most protection.
Yes, against Physical attacks. No logic on it providing Spell Resistance, which should be Light Armor's "special trait".
There also is no logic with both light and heavy providing the most protection(against different sources), but only light providing high offense as well.
Exactly, just as said before. Light and Heavy shall not provide the most protection in general, just towards different damage sources.

Light armor gives more magic benefit passives than just cost reduction.

    OP post is misleading.

You want OP? Look at the VMA Glory set and the new heavy armor set in DB where you can roll into people and stun them. Combine this with Well-Fitted...HELLO HEAVY ARMOR!

But what I'm hearing is " I can't light armor tank in PVP anymore and I'm gonna cry till ZoS makes LA the only way to live in PVP again."

This is how I read it.

You can't have it both ways.

I am shocked, how strong heavy armor is now, compared to light armor.
Heavy armor gives you 5 times more armor than light armor and 3 times more spell resistance.

The spell cost difference between a full set of light armor and a full set of heavy armor is almost non existing. The difference is around 400 less Magicka cost for reflective scales, which is as good as nothing in 1.6. I was able to cast reflective scales 11 times with heavy armor and 13 times with light armor.

Tell me, where is the balance here ? Where is even the point in light armor anymore ? The spell penetration from light armor got basically removed and replaced with a 75% chance to trigger a low spell penetration on hit.

With heavy armor, I have over 18 000 spell resistance (withouth armor buffs) and the light armor passives gives me a bit over 900 spell penetration :) yes, niiiice (not)
Light armor does not even make spells more effective. It does't matter, if a 7 piece heavy armor castle casts conjured ward, or a squishy light armor user. The strenght is the same.

As it stands now, heavy armor will be the way to go, as it gives you tons of resistances. And light armor basically does not give a noticeable benefit with magic. I admit, I have not tested this in pvp so far. But many people already told: They don't stand a chance with light armor.
    I

I disagree, heavy is now viable in pvp. They changed it for the better.

    Hello everyone,

Since we're long past the time of Update 1.6, we've felt it necessary to put this thread to rest. Feel free to create a new, more up to date thread on the more recent update to Heavy Armor if you wish to continue this discussion.

    Thank you for understanding!
