So you see, absent activities that identify selfish twits, in cases where the loss is minimal, such people would only be identified at the worst of times. Cherish the chest stealing mechanic and always, always make sure your book of deeds is within reach.

Exactly!!!
Your post highlights the problem of the mudcrab dibs entirely. Player A decides due to arbitrary rationale x17 he is entitled to what is actualky open resource. When pleyer B accesses saidcresource, player A invokes the self-appointed notuce of aggrievement and then wsits for a chance to take revenge.
Later on, they get revenge.
And then see this as a good thing and a rule to follow and promote.
If instead, the mudcrab dibs on open loot was laughed at and everyone recognized the diff between open resource and on-kill resources, player A the guild would not be bringing such a negative as long waiting "revenge" for self-percieved offenses into the game.
IMO the game isnt helped by reinforcing self-defined offenses and long term payback into daily activity.
IMO if both sides saw the open resource as just that, an open resource to be taken not claimed, then whoever got the goods that days both sides head off and go on to have fun, no need for holding onto that grudge for so long.
Thanks. Very helpful.
Can only hope the guild (apocryphal or not) eventually learned to just relax and enjoy playing more than wracking up black marks to use in their book of revenge-to-be-served-petty.
Life is just too short imo to carry that much for something so trivial.

I just use light attacks with whatever weapon I carry, to show them to the chest - most do get it though. With a resto staff I poke at the player and then at the chest...GreenhaloX wrote: »If I'm at a chest or raw material location and there is another player nearby, who probably hasn't seen the chest, I often shoot my arrows or scorch earth at the chest trying to signal to the other player to get it. Pretty much every time I do that, the other player leaves. There is not really a way to communicate to someone to go ahead and take something. It should be added to the emotes. I keep thinking the other player is probably thinking who is this crazy idiot, each time I shoot my flurry of arrows to where the chest is at. Lol!
