Also your CP rank can be misleading. My DK for instance just hit v1 days before the patch, but looking at him with 501+ CP you'd have no idea I'm not as practiced with him as my Nightblade who earned the vast majority of my points.

Indeed... having a V1 suddenly max level was great. Except that I still need Undaunted, Fighter's Guild, finish maxxing skill lines, etc. She's much weaker than the toons that leveled the old way.

    CP ain't everything.

But they would have to remove the API function that lets you call actual CP values from the target, otherwise an addon would be out day 1 that would let the elitists see it anyway.

You can already see this with FTC.

If the gear cap is 160, why is any information about beyond 160 showing? If the allocation cap is 501, why isn't that the gear cap too? Just wondering.

And this type of CP Elitism/shaming was what many of us (who were/are still very much against the removal of Vet Ranks and going to only Champion Points) warned Zenimax and the Community about before the change.

Now (and it is starting to show it's ugly head already); your build won't matter, your class won't matter, Healer/Tank/DPS... none of it matters after this change.

All that matters is if your Character has a CP501 next to their name. If you don't? Shaming, ridicule, and getting booted from a Group (if you even get an invite at all...) are going to be commonplace if that number isn't 501.

And all the PvP kiddos screaming their heads off for the removal of Vet Ranks, just so they can have a full slate of eight max-level characters in the shortest amount of time possible, they're the ones who should be held responsible for this. This is the abortion that their impatience created.

It will only get worse, OP.

Funny all I do is PvP and I never asked for this change and haven't seen anyone in zone chat in pvp complaining and asking for this either. Maybe people on the forums complained or asked for it but not the people I've seen actually playing the game. It was so easy to get vr16 anyway most pvp'ers wouldn't really care. Roll the change back - I don't care either way. But doesn't seem fair to blame folks doing PvP for folks doing PvE judging/alienating other folks doing PvE - blame those being elitist.

    @N0TPLAYER2
550 CP does not automatically make you a "better" player. It just means you have had a lot of time to play the game.
You could still suck big time.

The only thing that makes you a better player is your actual skill, which has nothing to do with how many CPs you have ...
    shades.gif

So true. Lol. Like I said previously, I know someone with 300-ish champion points that regularly perform better than people at the champion point cap. And they handle their business no matter what. Whether it's PVP, trials in PVE, etc. They're always on their A-Game and getting laying down the law. I tell 'em all the time, "When you hit the cap, you're gonna be a true force to be reckoned with. You're gonna be a titan to ants." And he just chuckles and passively dismisses it."

But, I kid neither him or you all not. It really is a skill thing. Seriously.

Well... that's where they complained. The Forums.

Up until the removal of VR's had a solid date, 90+% of the threads about VR removal was from PvP kids. Here. On the Forums. Hence, my statement.

As a side note; the Elitism I mentioned was not ever defined along a PvP/PvE split. It's starting now though, and it's going to keep building. We're only on Day 3 of the update, but there's already the CP Elitism building and gaining strength on the LFG sites, and in Zone Chat. That's happening for both sides of the game (PvP & PvE).

It's not to the level of what some games have achieved, but it's already happening. It will only get worse from here.

But as I said; it's not that all players at the Cap are going to display Elitism in this manner. No, there are some very reasonable people in the game, and quite a few of them have posted in this thread. So, I try not to generalize.

However; the people at the Cap looking to make PUG's to take on end-game content (whether PvP or PvE), who will display this vulgar Elitism, they are in the majority. The calm, rational players like yourself are only going to get the guilt-by-association treatment simply because of the actions of these CP Elitists.

I like to think I'm a pleasant pessimist, but I'm still a pessimist. I've seen it happen too many times in too many great games to not recognize the warning signs when they start showing up.

I wish it didn't have to be this way, but this is where Zenimax took the game when they went this direction by having absolutely everything tied to a CP number and having no other method of player progressions.

Game should just have a difficulty slider for PvE and level 50 characters should just be called "Champion" and maybe a way to view the CP but no reason to have it displayed not have it displayed on the NPCs.

I think it's funny that all the lowbies running around being sharkbait for the 501 raid groups in Cyrodiil will actually get to see how much CP matter in ALL aspects of the game.

Groups can still carry people thru content if need be, nothings changed. Join a guild, make friends, and run content with them. Or if you want to stay rando rambo go get your grind on.

I think that was the purpose but now...no idea what ZOS is doing because they've taken VR problems and CP concerns and made a mess of things.
Elitism aside, it doesn't work as is and as they look to raise the CP cap,...which is absolutely silly and dumb, the problems extend.

CP cap only makes sense for PvP and leader-boards but you dont need to cap ppl, you just have leader board and campaign ranges of CP. Maybe its time to find a new game because basically ZOS is trying to make their game look and work like The Division instead of Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited.

Personally, I would not want to run a pledge with someone that is requiring all their teammates to be at 501+ cp. They must be looking for the team to carry them thru the dungeon as the dungeons are not that difficult and definitely do not require max cp. So be thankful that you found out up front before you wasted the time running what will likely turn out to be a frustrating dungeon run.

I'm at 561 and will gladly run with teammates at any CP level...my only hope is they be willing to learn, do their best and want to have fun.

As an odd idea to throw out...

What if we just let people choose for themselves who they group with and by that if they choose to use cp501 as a benchmark, its ok.

Just like if someone wants to start an all templar only templar guild.

Or should we start masking sfx so you dont know someone is a sorc bc some people might not want a sorc in the group?

FWIW 501 or whatever cp value you want IS at least a metrick of time playing.

As for only show to 160... is it fine thdn to draw the line at 150?

Not defending the chatter nonsense or insults.

Agreed. We all have the right to group selectively and there is a wide and varied playerbase so everyone can choose accordingly.

I don't know if anyone posted this yet or not (haven't read through every comment; just the first page or so) but why not just remove the cap? That way, no one is capped and the obvious discrimination point is gone?

This sounds elitist and infers that you would kick a V1 from your vICP 'gold run' based on ranking alone, even though they have the right to pick up the pledge and access the veteran dungeon. Anyone who has completed the main story line (and generally reached level 50) is at 'end game content' and has every right to be there.

I admit some may not be ready for the tougher content but you cannot tell that by rank and outfit alone. Ability should be observed before judgement is made. My vet tank ran a dungeon through group finder the other day with a level 23, (who admitted after the run that he had 550 CP) and we had a dream run. On other days I could run the same dungeon with players leveled in the 30's and 40's (on their first character) and struggle.

The displaying of CP will probably make it even harder for the less experienced players to get PUG runs, which is where they really learn and develop as players, further worsening the elitism that already exists.

Well I have "Gotten over no text chat for console"

I have gotten over a lot of things that ZOS have done to make this game more "Un-enjoyable" for me.

But I will leave this game if it become another EP33N check just to run dungeons or participate in PvP..

Neverwinter had the same problem and I was personally one of the top 10 best geared Wiz and Tanks in the game at the time and I just hated seeing guildmates or friends get insta kicked from parties just because they did not have the correct magic number next to their characters name..

If ESO turns into that kind of game I will defiantly be leaving.. And I dare say I will not be alone.

I personally have no problem with getting and keeping max CP's, but the environment that this kind of thing creates is not something I want to be a part of.

I agree with the OP to a certain degree. Superficiality just sucks the fun out of the game and puts unwanted pressure on players. It is very disappointing to read about the same mentality being present here, that I have encountered with other MMO's.

Being at 508 CP, I still consider myself somewhat a "noob", because I barely know, how a dragonknight or nightblade works. People need to know this: In order to have good team, you should ask how well your teammates know other classes. This ensures much better success, rather than simply having the maximum CP, you will get there eventually anyway...

No it doesn't. But I "am" a better player. And I feel showing I have 550 and this equates to others that I am not a fresh vet 16. It's better imo. Anyone can get to vet 16. Not too many can get to 500.

To clarify, I mean that I feel 550 is a better representation of my skill than vet 16 or level 50. I earned those points and I'm proud to display them. The same way we wear monster helms in the bank, to show off our accomplishments.

Big difference as VR was actually that individual characters level. CP is absolutely not this at all.
    That's one big point

Another is that many of us were give a bunch of CPs when CP was added, when co catchup came and now as of VR to CP conversion so even if you only had one character, nobody earned all of those but even if they did...it's means very little.
