The ball is in ESO court on this and how they handle the exploiters, if it's another 3 day 'Go stand in the corner' response, a lot of players will just give up on the game. We are losing faith in ESO to fixing the problems and not sell us a #GODMODE potion in the Crown Store.

This isn't exploiting some glitch in the banking system that only existed because of poor programing, this is deliberately initiating third party software in order to gain an unfair and unnatural advantage in a competitive environment (PVE & PVP)....

It is not exploiting!!!..... it is unbridled cheating!!! We are better off without these people in our community....

Give them a 3 day temp ban for a warning then perma ban them. Although most of these players using these hacks have received a 3 day ban for other reasons so i dont understand why ZOS seems to be covering their ears saying not listening after warnings given out to players. Just because one person is using it doesn't make it right to "Make a point" its affecting peoples experience in PvP as well as competitive PvE streak one with what was his NO.1 ( legitimate score ) maelstrom score now NO.2 is now ruined by people cheating.

i think you guys are letting your emotions compromise your logic. a perma-ban should not be the first course of action against cheaters. i'd argue for a Temp-Ban - and loss of all gear (and also loss of all gold, achievements, question completion, etc.). basically i'd advocate for an entire account wipe. people make mistakes and deserve a second chance, but their account, plus all their accomplishments, are compromised if they cheat. so that should result in an entire account wipe from gold, to quests, to achievements, to gear. i honestly doubt that any cheater that gets their account wiped and still decides to continue playing and not quit the game will ever cheat again. if they are caught cheating again it'll all still be on the same account and then you can perma ban.

This is why we need Gamemasters patrolling the gameworld also permaban isn't harsh enough as they will just create another character so instead they need to be IP banned for life.

Permanent ban, and not just the account login data either. Ban them by way of their credit card and real name so they can't just sneak back in with an alternate account somehow.

These cheaters will never change any other way because nothing short of this incentivizes people to stop cheating.

The problem doesn't stop here though. ZoS needs to reverse whatever they did in recent patches that has suddenly allowed this to explode to this level.

The TOS is EVERY Clear about hacking and exploiting.

Section 8 clearly states:
You agree not to use any Service to:

Promote, upload, transmit, encourage or take part in any activity involving hacking, cracking, phishing, taking advantage of exploits or cheats and/or distribution of counterfeit software and/or Virtual Currency or virtual items. In an effort to continuously improve the Services, You and other players discovering exploits, cheats, cracks or other inconsistencies are required to report them to ZeniMax;

They deserve a perma ban. They broke the TERMS OF SERVICE, which a law binding contract signed by you the player. Breaking it may result in harsh actions such as ban.... I heard they already handed out a few.

you seem to forget the underlying system of justice which is the basis for any constitutional democracy. innocent until proven guilty? 3 strikes and you're out? you know those phrases which have been coined and derived from the fundamental laws that underpin our entire system of society and justice?

terms of service a law binding contract? pull your head out of your arse. A Game Developer does not write the law. They merely write terms of service which they can at their discretion choose whether or not to deny you access to that service on the basis of that. the terms of service are not law, they are a guideline to do's and don'ts that ZOS set that gives them some level of legal standing in case actions of actual law were brought against them.

here's the reality. in most western countries there is actual law (that has passed through two levels of parliament, or congress or whichever system of capitalism you live under) governing consumer transactions. In Australia in particular there is significant legislation pertaining to this and 'Refusal of Service' under that law. For example lets say Netflix banned me for using a VPN Service to access American content. Despite their TOS, I could in essence sue them for unjust refusal of service and more than likely win under the protections given in the Consumer and Competition Act 2010.

Also in those cases, like any legal prosecution - it is the onus of the service PROVIDER to prove guilt. Good luck with that.. Video from another player would almost be borderline inadmissable. Logs of Code Injection attempts from Client -> Server side.. that would be harder evidence.. Using the Netflix example - Netflix would need to PROVE that i was using a VPN provider and that I was not in the country at the time I accessed the service.. You really think they'd go to all that trouble over $14.95 a month?

THAT is why you will not see massive permabans. A TOS is a safety net. Not legislation. Whats easier and far less costly.. ignore the rabble rabble rabble of the masses knowing full well that they won't quit their game subs despite all their screaming and shallow threats that they will. Or fight an exploiter in court over breaches of Consumer legislation with little no no evidence to support their case against the exploiter..? (and possibly end up paying hefty fines and defence legal costs in the process)

I'm not saying the exploiters are in the right or should be given lenient treatment - but you're acting like a lynch mob instead of citizens of nations with a civilized system of society.

If anything, in other games I have gotten perma ban for smaller things. If you feel like ZOS is nice about it then a month ban servers them. But you forget ZOS PERMA BANS people for ACCOUNT SHARING which is just as bad in their eyes.

Perma ban with an appeal option to have the ban reviewed by an ZOS mod so that any innocent caught up can be vindicated and restored with their appeal but the cheaters still go down in flames with the proof against them shown by failed appeal.

When Perma banned I feel the Dragon God of Time Akatosh should appear and he would simply drain your essence till you're a skeleton thus perma killing you as you can't res or be res'd.

So what this means is that you can log onto your character(s) but you can't be res'd and you'll stay in the spot where you died forever unable to move,re-spawn, or be revived by other players.

they're not hacking.. they're manipulating code injection on the client end through an authenticated connection. that's exploiting. if they are hacking, they are directly using injection at the Server end to gain unauthorized access to functions otherwise disallowed.

that then becomes a criminal issue.. not TOS..

That's a completely different issue altogether.. the software is licensed to you as the individual as the legal entity. Not multiple people. Account sharing is sharing the software license. That's quite understandable as its copyright infringement and THAT is enforceable law..

Actually, this is not a bad idea. Ban them and place their characters in chains in the capital of their alliance. Place an npc with a bell next to them loudly proclaming 'shame!'. Have a cart with rotten fruit and vegetables nearby owned by a kid npc. You can get a miniquest from the kid to throw rotten produce at the disgraced individuals.

Alternatively, make it a proper witch burning ceremony. Every hour have 3-4 of those characters be led out, tied to stakes and burned alive for consorting with daedric forces to gain unnatural powers. You can have a mini quest betting on which one will p*** himself out of fear before being set on fire.

still not hacking. its exploiting because its using third party software to exploit a client side memory addressing issue (possibly cooldown timer.. don't know) by injecting new code to that memory block to gain advantage. If the control on that was done entirely server side then yes it'd be a hack.
