You have a total of 12/14 item slots.
sets range in from 2, 3 and 5 pieces.
We have enough possible combinations to have a 'adequate' crafted and droped ratio in most builds. we don't need to make things more complicated

I know, and my favorite quote was when the Porsche Cayenne was referred to as having the beauty of a camel with gingivitis.

Sets like Lunar Bastion, which is supposed to be an end game tank set, is utterly outclassed by something like Hist Bark, an easily craftable set.
While I don't want to limit what crafters are capable off, dropped sets need a boost for them to be end game viable. There are only a handful of useful sets at endgame and the majority of them are crafted. Hunding's Rage, NMG, Julianos, TBS; all craftable and viable end game options. What about the dropped sets that are endgame viable? SPC and Scathing Mage are the only 2 that come to mind that are truly worth the effort to farm.
I don't mind crafters getting more options in regards to what they can craft but I'd prefer if dropped sets got a substantial buff 1st.

There needs to be a balance between the sources, making the absolute best gear should be as a drop to keep players running the group content, it also needs to be random in order to maintain the longevity of that content. MMO's have learned this lesson before, if you give players what they want when they want it then your content falls into a drought faster. Once players have what they're after, a good portion of them stop running the content only a few remain to help others or for the challenge after they received everything they want out of it.

I think you skipped the part where you read the post. He clearly stated that in this scenario you would have to do high level end game content for the materials to make these BIS equipments.

I loved the show, but I won't be watching any new episodes due to the sacking of Jeremy Clarkson and the subsequent non-renewal of Hammond and May. Terrible loss for the show imo

Myself also being a former SWG player and remembering how reverse engineering worked to modify drops into the aspects you needed and at times even make them much more powerful in that game was such a fun aspect of crafting. I however was a crafter there as well and one of the best known for starship parts on my server because I put a ton of effort into being a very good crafter.
It would be nice to be rewarded here for putting the work into crafting as well with the ability to make things that can match top of the line drops and make crafting a lot more rewarding and enjoyable, as well as allow more diversity in play styles.

LOL although this is off topic, you do understand that Clarkson was sacked because he punched a TV show producer in the face? That sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable.
