Why New DLC Release on Console not Parallel with PC

I am a big fan of elder scrolls playing since Morrowind, I like ESO more on console than PC.

PC is always getting priority over consoles, is there a specific reason?

Why it can not be available on consoles same week or week after?

I believe it's how developers need to adjust plan to release at same time.

It can be little hectic for them but consoles should have same time.

These things are never released together for many reason. Distribution capacity, troubleshooting even that companies will negotiate or pay a premium to have there platform be first to encourage sales of their product.

I think they mentioned this on one of the Esolive streams.
It is because Sony and Microsoft approval process takes long and nothing can be pushed out without it unlike with PC which is an open platform you can push DLC out faster when there is no "Gatekeeper"

You need to let the beta testers test it for us first ;)

As others have said it is easier to release on PC first because Sony and Microsoft have an approval process ZOS has to go through to release on console. The PTS is PC only as well so all of the game testing and tweaking is done on one platform.

IF they want to release the same time at console

All DLC will take longer time to launch because they have to finish console.

Because we (PC) beta test for consoles... easier to upload a new patch on PC than it is on consoles, where SoE/Microsoft needs to "validate" a build (ie. charge money to say it's ok).

    ^Exactly this.

PC can launch it normally, whereas Microsoft and Sony need to approve them over a process that takes like two weeks.

Plenty of games will hold on to the PC update for that time so the updates can coincide, but this isn't the case with ZOS.

Honestly as a PS4 player it does not affect me at all lol. I could care less if PC gets it two weeks later :)

    Why Console users should wait???

DCUO, FFXIV and even Warframe I believe, all have near or simultaneous patch launches. Most of the thinking in this thread is incorrect, misdated or plain wrong. This isn't 2008 where consoles have enigmatic architecture. They're PCs in a box.

There's also no reason why ZoS should keep the populations separate any longer, either. It's slowing down on PC and booming on console (PS4, at least, no idea about X1). I just made the swap and it's night and day. I wish I was playing my PC toon and not a copy from several months ago, however. So much to catch up on!

because you chose to play on baisically bad pcs with old hardware that are gated and still owned by the cooperations you paid too much for to take them home/rent them? Why would they delay PC DLC launches to coincide with console launch? They can't make console patches go live early, so they would have to push PC back. You know, the platform that does all the beta testing for the content...Besides, the 2 weeks in between PC and console launch are basically a second test period where we find all of the issues that made it to the live server, and then hope SOME of them get fixed. Pushing back PC launch by 2 weeks would just serve to delay the fix cycle for BOTH platforms. Why would you want this? It's not like there is cross play, so no one is gaining an advantage over you.

It takes a lot more staff to do that in a big release on all platforms at the same time - if something goes wrong and shtf, they are better off to have to deal with just one platform at a time. You see already how they struggle to fix stuff, when it goes wrong, it takes them weeks or months even - I think they do not have the staff to do all releases at the same time.

    No. Not really.

The update needs to be 100% "finished" before they send it to Sony and Microsoft. They send it ASAP when the update has been completed. A couple changes are probably made during the approval process though which is why Xbox and PS4 sometimes are a few days off from each other.

When the update is "finished" it is immediately applied to the PC servers.

If it was given approval earlier from Sony than expected then the update was completed earlier than expected and therefore applied to PC earlier as well.
