RACE CHANGE

Just let me buy the passives, I'd rather not play as a FOTM race just so I can be competitive with a class.

Not everyone wants to be FOTM race. I just want to change my sorc to a Khajiit but I've spent way too many hours to just re-roll.

They are not doing race or class changes. They never said they were even considering them. I'm not sure why people think this is a thing.

If anyone can link anything that was ever said indicating that this was actually in the works, please do, but I've never seen it stated anywhere, by anyone official.

Until someone can prove it, I will guarantee that this is not happening.

The fact is that the game changes. The Dark Elf stamina DK who was created with that race at least partially because of the Flame Talent passive will see the stamina morphs for abilities changed to poison damage in the next update. So, I guess they are "supposed" to change to magicka or accept a 7% damage decrease?

Any player has to adapt to changes in the game. But, not allowing that adaptation to include race changes when there are non-trivial components to game play wrapped up in the race you play doesn't make sense.

Ugh...the change to Poison on DK's will actually be an increase thanks to mighty CP. That said, yes that passive will no longer be a significant heads up for Dunmer DK's over other race's DK's. I emphasize though that as long as you have more than 20 or so points into mighty then the poison change will be an increase as you will get more than a 7% buff.

They mentioned it a few times on a few ESO lives. Here's a summary of a very old one.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I've watched many of the ESO Live shows, and I've heard them talk about the barber shop and name change stuff, but I don't recall Race change ever specifically being mentioned as being planned, though I may have missed it.
When I can, I'll re-watch episode 15 (the one being referred to in the link you posted), to see if I can find an exact quote for the reference that was made on Reddit.

I don't even want a Race change, I just want to make a few little physical alterations.

And even though I'm a strong opponent to the idea of letting us make such changes to our characters after hitting the "yes I'm sure" button after creation...I can't help but to feel more and more irked that the Khajiit Character I'm currently focusing on doesn't have the fur color I want...

Ive never played an mmo that let you change your class, but name change appearence change and race change should have been a thing from the start

    Purely my opinion...

    Just roll a new character.

I don't know an MMO out there that allows you to so severely alter your character that even their base racial genetics are up for instant reassignment. Not even for money.

I'm not trying to flame anyone, but this just seems like a horrible idea to me.

    Again, purely my opinion.

When game mechanics, racial passive changes, damage types for skills etc are altered by zos making your racial/class choice for your playstyle irrelevant then you should be able to change it.

They shouldnt present a product for you to chose between and then change the product once you have made a permanent decision unless you have an option to change.

I don't want to race change, but I'm tired of the Argonian niche passives. It's like I can use Clever Alchemist and that's about it.

Nah. Blizzard charges $25 for race and class changes (and that's ontop of your $15/mo sub fee). I suspect ZoS might do the same.

I believe if, or when they put it in, it'll be like 1,500 Crowns on the Crown Store. That way they can get more money to fill their already bloated wallets finance the game to make it better. :)

Honestly I think it is fair to charge for a race and class change. If we want some other race or class for free we can level it, only problem is mount training system and limited deletes. (And unlike Wow there are no items bound to your character, so if you want a specific item or gear for the new char you can send it over instead of grinding for a copy)
