The Skald King's voice bugged me. While I do like the voice actor, his voice didn't seem fitting for the character. His dialog seemed to overemphasize the wrong parts. He seemed to be struggling.

Awe,I love Peter Stormare's voice as the king. He's just a bit responsibility laden,Jorunn is,so that struggling voice fits,..for me anyway. :)

First TBS is probably better than hundings in a proper group setting so nice job min/maxing. Haha.

I think the vast majority of people play like that. I did for the better part of a year. I was a dagger and bow NB at launch and it was a long time before any min/maxer would even consider it to be viable.

That being said, at some point a little min/maxing goes a long way. The vast majority of this game can be completed with almost no thought to a build. Hovever, if you want to be competitive at end game, "play the way you want" sort of flies out the window.

Just made a post about TBS vs Juli for group play.

KK, done advertising for myself. Bow was not viable for pve for a year, and they changed it so that it is. The fact that you were using bow for a year before that does not mean you had some great insight, it just means you used bow back when it sucked. No offense.

Never said I had any great insight. I was pointing out that for a long time I ran a sub-optimal build because I wanted to play dagger/bow regardless of performance. In other words, not min/maxing. That was the point of this thread.

Also, bow is still terrible single target DPS in PVE. There was a period for a few months when it was really good, but it was short lived. Bow has not been competitive as a main bar weapon in quite some time. Is is viable, sure, but people are clearing vWGT with nothing but light attacks. Almost anything is viable. However, it's certainly not competitive.

Again, kind of my point. Play the way you want works for most things in this game unless you are talking competitive end-game. Some people like to compete and some don't. Neither group is in the wrong.

I dont understand why a bow isnt a good main bar weapon to have for PvE. This is all I use on all my alts. I have no problems with it giving me the damage I need when I need it.I have dual wield on my second bar and switch when caught in close up combat.
I can see that it might be a problem in PvP though.

I tend to fall into the "ZOS should have stood their ground and never given us access to hard numbers about how much damage we're doing" camp. I find a lot more fun in my build just by switching up my bar from time to time and seeing what seems to give the best results.

OTOH, the results of the theorycrafters' and min/maxers' exhaustive work is readily available. I would hate trying to keep up with the FOTM builds, but reading what others are doing is at least good for giving me ideas for what to try next.

Another example. I created another getup with two full sets, half Eternal Hunt and half Bahara's Curse. And since the two set bonuses (when proc'd) are Green and Blue respectively, I had to create glass swords (green) for the Eternal Hunt bar and dyed the armor a mix of blue and green. He looks like a ridiculous superhero. I even searched around for which enchant was blue for the weapon on the Bahara's curse side.

Goofy, I know. But I learned to play with the two sets, and it was a TON of fun. Especially the Eternal Hunt set.

Thanks for all the positive comments and shares. Keep em coming.

Oh, and for those who don't want me in their group cause I don't max my stats, yes you can always kick me an wait another hour for a replacement tank. Seems short-sighted to kick a person who knows the dungeon mechanics, has crafted gold sets, and helps others without getting all judgmental about playstyle. But that's your choice.

I have challenged myself to go through different zones with my main or alts trying things like
-magic Templar Reguard (tank, dps, heal, by rid of any two) with sword n shield, 2 hand, destruction staff, healing staff, dual wield.

Some all weapon skills like healing with only healing staff or dps with destruction staff.
Even using only undaunted and this or that in solo, dungeons or MSA.

Also, just questing and trying to complete any ZOS achievements on console with no add-ons

Hehehe.Sounds like your two sets were fun to build. I may have to get the glass weapons.I already have the Bahraha's Curse ones.

I've played and continue to play a lot of mmo's. I've never once worried about min/max, meta, or the best gear. I enjoy the ride wherever I go. I willingly group with people that are fun over those that run groups like I'm back in boot camp.

Between Bahara's bonus, Eternal's roll dodge (which can be done in multiple locations at once), Volcanic Rune, and Manifestation of Terror, the ground was covered with blue and green and red and black. DANGER! DANGER!

But doesn't work in PvP. You just get buttpunched and slapped around. But super fun for PvE.

Same here. I use all crafted sets as well. Trying out a siphon blade khajiit with restoration staff on one bar and dual daggers on the other. Going for a self sufficient build. I am currently lvl 42. I can solo world bosses and group delves. I consider that a win.

Your not giving up much with Twice Born Star it may actually be best in slot or very close depending on which mundus stones you use.

TBS all legendary divines with Thief and shadow stones is almost plus 18% crit chance and crit damage.

Now tell me you crafted as a stam build a five piece tourgs pact with infused weapons with weapon and spell damage enchants and you have an off the wall build.

    Or

A stam DK tavas Blessing build

    Or

A stam on magica DK with Penials Appitude (new dark brotherhood set)

Congrats though on 9 researched traits that is an accomplishment.

I use a 1h+s and a bow with Heavy Armor... 7 pieces..... a dirty causal. How dare I not mid/max.

I have actually had people walk up to me in towns and pick fights with me over my scrub choices. Note though I don't make others suffer in content. Some good buddies who are also dirty casuals hold a static and by the way we have fun. Might take us an hour to finish the hall of the dead in windhelm.... but the comments alone are worth it.

I've very much done my own thing with little concern for min/maxing all the way up to V16. I run PUG dungeons all the time and I've never heard any complaints about my build or rotation.

I run a Stamblade with stealthy dual-dagger set-up on my primary bar with and emphasis on single target DPS, I run a more in-your-face dual axes on my secondary bar with an emphasis on AOE damage. I've found both bars have their time and place. The daggers are super handy in dungeons for "healer hunting" as I call it. When you get those packs of guys you just can't bring down.. find that healer(s) and burn him. And the AOE is handy for other trash. Dual daggers also pretty useful for a lot of boss fights.

I've played that way since beta. Even when Nightblades and Stam builds were terrible because that's the character I've wanted to play. Similarly, I've found it's important to know your limitations so you're desire to play how you want isn't infringing on other peoples desire to play how -they- want.

However, I've also found there is a lot of room for min/maxing within that format. I look into high dps builds online, look at what skills and gear people are using and say, "How can I incorporate these things into what I'm already doing?" In the last couple of weeks I upped my DPS output fairly significantly just by slotting a few skills I hadn't considered before; I'd allowed myself to get into a rut. These minor changes had a minimal effect on my play style.

I guess what I'm saying is, despite how you play, there's always room for improvement. Little tweaks that can me made here or there. None of the Veteran Dungeons are so difficult that a group of competent players can't best them, regardless of build... As long as they have a healer and tank.

Learn the fights, stay out of the bad, have fun, play the way you want.

I only play games that allow me to play as I feel comfortable/find enjoyable and still be able to solo a decent amount of the game to be satisfied. I don't group up. I don't PVP. I don't run "end game" content. I think I learned to become solo in MMOs just because of the folks who take games very seriously, min/max, use this exact spec, these exact skills, in this exact order at this exact time. No offense to those folks. I'm glad they enjoy the game that way but I refuse to do that. My real-life job dictates what I have to do in order to keep my job and receive a paycheck. I play to relax after a stressful day at work. Games in my spare time will absolutely not dictate what I do, how I do it, and when I do it. Unless you pay me, of course.

Thus, I am a solo player. I am in only one guild just to sell the stuff I don't need/want. I was in beta and just reached VR16 on my sorc a couple weeks ago. She's my crafter, maxed in everything except enchanting (surprise), which is in the mid 30s I think. She has only 260 or so CPs. While I've read a few threads talking about best spec and this and that, I quickly realized I just didn't care and stopped reading. If I can get through quests and the harder quest "bosses" and still survive, I'm doing fine in my book, even if I have to die once or twice before beating them.

I am in the process of raising some baby alts now with the help of my crafter for gear. My baby alts are most likely not ideal specs/weapons/whatever and I really don't care. I'll find out soon enough whether I've chosen wrong skills when I try to defeat the harder quest bosses. Then I'll pick and choose what I want from my available skills until I can beat them.

I won't ever burden the other folks out there, though, by joining anything that requires group effort, so nobody has to panic about my less than stellar choices.

Thing is that it works for you.If you enjoy this way of playing, and you have no problems, keep it up.
Everyone should play as they want to.Those people who say foolish things because someone plays in a manner different than their own are just idiotic.
Those who try to help with someone's builds are to be commended though.Giving advise is different than berating someone. :)

I'm a roleplayer. I usually stick to PVE and quest content; occasionally I'll go out and PVP for something different. I'm a good enough DPS for group finder and such. I can pass through and survive them just fine.

Majority of my time that I play I PVE and quest, but there are days I do nothing but roleplay with my guild The Jackals. It's a guild for Skyrim (Ebonhart Pact) Mercenaries, Thieves, and Madmen. There are equal amounts of fun/silly RP and serious RP (like kidnappings and ransomes for one.) It's quite fun for everyone. It's based in Riften where a lot of guilds actually use as a homebase.

http://thejackals.enjin.com if you're interested in signing up. All races welcome. I play a Bosmer Madwoman.

There are also many guilds that support RP with no theme. They're just OOC hubs that help link people to roleplay events and hubs. They'll even help you find a guild of your own. I'm part of a guild called Roleplayers Unlimited as well.

My first character, my Khajiit Sorcerer, didn't even know what an Armor Set was until well into her Vet levels. Her only maxed out crafting skill is Clothing. Blacksmithing and Woodworking? They're not even at 10. She doesn't even understand the concept of Enchanting and Alchemy. And whenever she's hungry she goes to the local Chef.

My third character Tazrah? She's a bit more...knowledgeable. She's been working on all three of her Clothing, Blacksmithing, and Woodworking in tandem, though Enchanting and Alchemy still eludes her kitty thoughts. However she's still a very squishy, incompetent fighter that likes to think she's helping make a difference, what with firing her Dark Flare Artillery at the Vet16 enemy charging her way, who dodges each one passively. Then she get's a Ferocious Leap to the face and proceeds to ignore her instincts and fall flat on her back.

This is just how I feel too.

I just meander around sometimes, and collect things, or pick flowers when I am not questing. I've tried PvP, and I enjoy sieging a fort but I'm not good enough to sustain in PvP so I don't usually do it.

I don't minx max or run dungeons so have no fear of being kicked from some elitists group, and I play alone so I'm not hurting or inconveniencing anyone with my habits, or my love of really strange builds that look ridiculous in theory, but that I like to try and make work.

What makes this game so cool is that you can be as casual as you want, have fun, RP, pick flowers etc and be totally fine with that. Or you can put in massive time and effort in an attempt to be the best PVPer, have the highest rank, get Emperor, or top the leaderboards. I respect both, but I've always been a hardcore player with all games.

    GREAT!!!

For me, its usually backstory before design. that helps with the in-game choices like kill or forgive too.

For sets and such, i do go for a good set but not necessarily the latest meta decimal maxed. As long as they coordinate, serve my purposes and look good - i am good to go.

tried all sorts of things. That is partly why most of my characters have lotsa different armor skills. At one time or another, they used them.

Streaking down the beach in hews Bane can be interesting - esp when the shocks rile up the mudcrabs from hell.

The only 'stat' I'm concerned about is 'can I kill this / these mob(s)?'

If the answer is 'yes', then I'm good.
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

I play with Dualswords and heavy armor. I like my Imperial Helm and Shoulders, dont care for kena.

I am a stamina DK and as soon as DB starts, ima stop using Corossive Armor(fart armor), Unstable Flames (snot scratch) and Burning Flame (Puke)

I play with 460 ping on med pop Cyrodill cause of my location (that's ok I still have fun and I manage in PvP). PvE is dead easy in this game so I have done all but vMA. It was good fun.

As soon as the game stops being fun cause of Poison Brotherhood DLC ima stop. Period.

In the mean time I look forward in playing ESO every day 2-3h.

I am a hardcore pvp gamer when playing open world, non instanced maps/games.

    That is my insight
