Imperial City Prision "Life Sentence" Achievement

This is not easy achievement to get. Not the hardest or the most time consuming but difficult indeed, even more for someone in my timezone as it's very hard to find players good enough AND committed for a no-death run. And even so, along the way, there several chances for an RNG death (Harvester trash pack, Flesh Abomination exploding hoarvors...)

However, today, right now, I finally managed to be grouped with good players, committed to do the no-death run, everyone focused in not dying stupidly believing that this achievement doesn't require us to stay alive the whole time, including the final boss.

In fact, I'm 100% sure that a a few weeks/months ago the achievement description explicitly said that it would not count the Lord Warden fight. Mechanics in there still bugged, sometimes the second portal doesn't appear or they overlap each other and count as one (among other things).

And this not announced change (I'm with all patch notes since 2.3.5 opened) made me miss the opportunity I'm trying for MONTHS.

C'mon, ZOS!

I never heard about the achievement not requiring you to stay alive through the last boss. But I agree with the bugginess of that fight. A few weeks ago I did 2 tries with some buddies, managed to get to the Lord Warden with no deaths. On the first attempt, only 1 portal spawned before his big aoe that requires everyone to take a portal. Note that nobody fell in a portal and made it despawn. We literally only had 1 portal. On the second attempt, the boss got stuck at 32% health and wouldn't take any more damage.

After creating this topic I ran it again. People were tired as it is an exhaustive dungeon and ran less focused and other deaths happened along the way.

But if we didn't have a random death, during the boss fight at certain stage we've got only one portal too. And nobody fell inside by accident or anythng.

So, months later of this topic and not even a hello from ZOS.

I've run this dungeon countless times, several of them perfectly executed, doing every mechanic instead of just burn the s**t out to not mess anything but every single time an overlapping portal or, like right now, the portal just, for the lack of better word, didn't sucked me.

If you can't improve the randomness of the movement, just revert this terrible change and let me and several others in the same situation get the goddamit achievement and that freaking disgusting pet.

"Defeat all mini-boss and boss enemies in the Veteran Imperial City Prison without suffering a group member death". I do not see slightest reason for someone to think Lord Warden is not a boss.

I think they should remove the requirement for no death achievement and give the no death achievemnt a special title to go along with it. Thus making it possible to get the pet. But not forcing you to go through a run with a no death in group which would be very hard to do. We can do without the no death group requirement.

It is possible to get the pet. I have the pet. Had it for ages.

What you are trying to say is the following: I think they should remove the requirement for no death achievement and give the no death achievemnt a special title to go along with it. Thus making it possible to get the pet without any effort.

I am sure its hard enough without the life achievement but yes I do think they should remove the life achievement from the list that way it is a little bit easier to get the pet.

Um, every single no-death achievement in this game--vCoH, vCoA, vICP, vWGT, and now the new dungeons--require no-death on the final boss as well. It's always been like this. It's not a change, not a bug, and there is nothing to revert.

It's been like this since the start, what are you talking about Lord Warden had always counted for the No Death.
Being as I got this before the first ever nerf, it's not that hard to coordinate 4 people and assign 2 of them to a portal each.

    1) It wasn't like this since start. I have friends that completed long, long time ago and they confirmed me that they did have a group member death while fighting Lord Warden

    2) The problem isn't coordination, the problem is random deaths. when two portals overlap each other, for some reason they're counted as one and when the first two players a sucked into both portals disappear.

It's random, like in veteran Crypt of Hearts when Nerien'eth grab you with the Ebon Sword and you smash the synergy button to resist Necrosis and even though you die because, for some reason, it doesn't compute as you've pressed the button

Why it's so hard to make portals act like those old Windows 98 screensavers? They start moving and if they touch each other, they change directions. Problem solved and even add a new layer of complexity that would require more focus of players

Must have got to Lord warden 10+ times with no deaths. Rng on those portals and straight bugs that won't let you in always ruins it though.

Noobs that fail at this keep running around like loons. Tank and healer take one portal and stalk it and dps take the other. Keep warden in the middle and it'll prevent the orbs from popping up near the edges making it harder to get in the portals. Easy. If someone falls in a portal send someone in after them and slow down the dps and warden will summon another one.

Yup, if you fall into a portal before you need to jump in then one person will not be able to go down and subsequently die.

On an aside, CoH is based around dps on that last boss. If you do enough damage then the shield drops and you're released before you die. Them's the mechanics and easily doable. Biggest pain in that dungeon is someone always dodge rolls into the AoE on the previous boss and dies. Took me months to get no death because of that.
