Is Maelstrom Arena Normal supposed to be this tough?
I've given MA a go for the first time today. I really struggled with it on normal.
I think I died about 25 times on the poison level before giving up on it. Am I just crap, or is it really that hard? Should I give up any hope of going anywhere near the veteran version?

refering to the one with the big lizard? the only difficult normal mode stage to be honest, those poison shrooms are so unpredictable and if you cant get to the water or cant purge you die.PLEASE REPLY TO ME WITH @dsalter otherwise i'm likely to miss the reply if its not my own thread

✭✭If you don't follow the mechanics you wont beat it.
It's easily doable at 200cp and purple set gear.2 -
flguy147ub17_ESO✭✭✭✭✭You maybe doing something wrong from a mechanics standpoint. Have you watched any tutorials on it or just went in and winged it? Also reanalyze your gear and build setup as well. It shouldnt be too tough for a vet 16 character. Just watch some videos on it and maybe look at their builds they use.1

Hum , the arena is not realy hard in easy
you can oneshot mobs . you need to optimize yourself . (it's really hard when you are stamina ) . or you need training ^^ .

I looked at guides but I didnt change my build. I didn't think I would need to on normal mode.
It is only the poison level I am struggling on. I am REALLY struggling on it though.0 -

Saltypretzels✭✭✭✭I think that level is hard on normal, and I am a decent player in other places in the game. Those stupid poison
thingys kept popping up under me when standing in the bubble. (Obviously I didn't practice it too much, I got sick of it after about 20 deaths and haven't been back since).

✭✭✭✭✭What kind of build are you running? Is it possible you are missing a mechanic? In stage 7, there is a summoner that will spawn on one of the two pedestals. They are what trigger the mushrooms to go off and kill you. They need to essentially be spawn killed, which is much easier to do at range. Once I see the portal appear, I know I will have a few seconds to maneuver. I then move to the closest safe spot (not close to any mushroom) and then immediately take out the summoner when it appears. On Vet, it usually takes 1 or 2 weaves with crushing shock. On normal, it shouldnt take more than one if memory serves. If the summoner is alive for more than about 3 seconds, you will be in trouble.1 -

✭The one with the Lizard was one of the easiest for me (besides the first one) on normal, playing it as a sorc, level 15 I was back then I think, but I cant defeat the final boss, he always throws me down and I die...I like sweetrolls and I cannot lie0 -

Certainly not. All mobs should have 5% of the HP they currently have and heal you when they attack you instead.

kinggingernator✭✭✭I'm lost.I used normal maelstrom to grind up a new character wearing no gear sets. Mobs die in like 2 hits. Idk what your doing unless your on a hybrid build but yes definitely stay as far as possible from vet.2

What exactly is going wrong? How are you dying? What is on death recap? Are you at final boss stage or one of the earlier stages?0 -

Garldeen✭✭✭✭I know the feeling. Im v3 with about 100cp and cant get past arena 1 on normal. Tried normal on the pts at the weekend with everything maxed out and still couldn't get past arena 3. Least i know now its not my gear holding me back0

✭✭✭✭✭Just wait until you play the veteran version on the Rink of Frozen Blood or Spiral Shadows... You'll know what toughness (actually it's just artificial difficulty with one-shotting and mainly bugs/glitches) really is... Trust me. Normal mode once you've played the veteran version of Maelstrom Arena will feel like you're doing the tutorial at the start of the game. . . It's that much of a difference. Seriously.0 -
