Daily Pledge and joining groups in progress

Often times it can take anywhere from a few minutes to over hours to get a group via the random dungeon group finder. Sometimes you get a new starting group, other times you're filling in for people who have left in a group that is halfway done.

Let's say you do join a random dungeon group that also happens to be the Pledge of the day and has already cleared some of the required objectives of the pledge. Should those cleared Main Objectives at least, count towards the Pledge Quest if the group clears the Dungeon for those who are joining midway through?

I actually ran into this today. I was soloing the silver pledge and after the first boss a guildie joined me. We completed the dungeon, but she had missed the main story quest and the pledge (at least the first boss). We did end up rerunning the first part of the dungeon again to get her the first boss, at which point she could turn in the pledge.

I voted yes but I'd like to see that it applies only to those filling in on a random queue. I'd hate to see it exploited.

"Hey when you get to the last boss I'm going to switch to my ______ so they can complete the daily." <-- not okay

The current pledge quest system is wonky, and I hate it.

Whether or not you completed the optional objectives is calculated at the moment all the primary objectives are completed.

Example 1: Normal Darkshade caverns. There's an optional objective required for the silver key--the Cutting Sphere--that requires a slight detour before killing the final main boss. If you forget about this objective and kill the final main boss first, you will only get a bronze key even if you immediately go kill the Cutting Sphere afterwards. Your key quality is locked in the moment you kill the final main objective, and in the game's view, you've "failed" it.

Example 2: I queue for Arx as a healer, and I get placed in a group that's stuck on the final boss. I feel bad about abandoning this group, especially since they're just at the final boss, so instead of abandoning the group, I help them kill the boss. I requeue for Arx, get into a fresh group, and do a complete run of the dungeon. Only to get a bronze key when I turn in the pledge. What happened? Since I had helped the group kill the final boss, that boss was checked off as completed on my pledge quest tracker. During my run with the fresh new group, the pledge quest "completed" the moment I killed the penultimate main boss, since the final main boss had already been checked off. But then the optional silver key bosses between the penultimate and final main bosses aren't counted since I killed them after the pledge had been "completed". In other words, because I was a good Samaritan and because I didn't abandon and restart the pledge quest, I got screwed on the key color (in a dungeon where it's otherwise impossible to get a bronze key since every "optional" boss is unavoidable).

Either progress should reset to zero entirely, or full progress up to that point be granted. But the current system just messes people up. (I'm leaning towards reset, actually, because there are dungeons (nCoH and nWS, notably), where you can deliberately skip some bosses.)

I've run into this before as well, and similarly hate to abandon a group which is probably already struggling since somone left, but am annoyed that I don't then get credit. While there may be possible abuses when someone swaps out a character, I don't really see that as a problem, as the person did at least do the work of playing through the whole way on some character. I don't see the rewards for pledges being so high in this game that it would be particularly tempting for people to complete most of the dungeon and sell spots for the final kill, the other potential problem.

I vote yes, first time using group finder today and 3 attempts I get put into a group that's stuck on the last boss, iv been lucky and was told that if im wanting it for gold key to rather abandon pledge or leave group, but its so hard to get a group together either via group finder or guildies that you end up rather saying sod it bronze key will do or sitting hours waiting for group finder so yes definitely

^ This is why I voted 'other'. I mean I'm not sure how many people would do this but still it's a possibility.

I've come into dungeons halfway through as well, and I always stick around because I feel bad leaving and I do like helping out; but it is a little sad to have to enter the hours-long queue again to repeat it - especially when you could be put into another half-finished group again.
