If the Vet removal, enchanting changes and armor changes roll out as it is on PTS, it will be a 2.5/5

If they actually remove VR and not try to tie it to the CP system, leave enchanting alone and benefit armor instead of messing with it and other class skills 4.5/5

It's really hard to give MMOs one rating for the entire game. There is just to many different things in them that can't be factored together.

Questing: 8/10
Immersion: 7/10
Quality end game PvE content (New Trials, and Dungeons): 7/10
Class ballance: 4/10 (6/10 with current DB changes)
Rate of end game content released (Trials, Dungeons, and PvP content): 4/10
PvP: 3/10

Over all ESO really shines in some areas while nearly failing at others.

I give ESO * * * because of persistent PVP lag, lag in several PVE zones, huge changes to skills rather tweaking or fixing the real issue, PVE combat that is too easy for questing, the removal of VR and renaming them Champion Point levels. If its your first character people will complain "OMG the CP grind is too much!" just like they did with VR leveling. There was a time when ESO was better and I would have rated it 4-5 stars but not anymore.

I dislike giving things a rating since it's always super subjective, as we all have various scales by which we judge a game.

I would say the game was perfect if the PvP was more elaborated. I would love to see some small group / solo player friendly stuff like instanced battlegrounds / arenas. The open-world siege PvP has always been something I disliked. I think the change to IC districts will be a good start, but I'd love to see more.

PvE is pretty much spot on though, and is more a case of me wanting more and more.

I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5. Its a good game. It has some nostalgia elements to it and some new things that make it entertaining. I remove stars here mostly for the greed issue that others are posting about but also the seeming lack of communication. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but who knows? The content is good. Not outstanding, but again, solid.

I bought this game and subbed to it for a year for the PvP content.

Due to the fact that one campaign is completely unplayable in primetime (trueflame) due to lag, there are limited choices for alternatives (an unbalanced CP campaign with far too many AD, and no-CP which is meh), my PvP experience is horribly represented.

Given that and the extreme amount of bugs and broken mechanics, this game's rating has dropped significantly since April 2014. Back at launch I rated the experience on several gaming websites as 9/10 or 8/10.

Today, I would not purchase it. If not for the already existing time investment, and responsibility to my guild, I would be gone as it is.

3/10 or in OP's metric, 1.5/5.

Then you will know the difference!

Its 3/5, because it needs to still improve but it will reach there in time!

Lol your guildmates returned for the removal of verteran ranks but they are just being replaced with champion points. This "removal" is not what players wanted when we originally asked for vet ranks removal. We didn't want the *** grind but its still here!

Beautiful world challenging the simple modern mmo tropes and edging on greatness from launch.One of the best mmos and should be experienced though common things you expect from most mmos will be missing. Many of the most player requested features are far into the future.Has a certain lack of uniqueness in replay-ability, many things are repeated on alts after playing through the three main stories your initial time. Performance can be from blissful to downright ugly.

I guess it depends on which player you are talking about. I had no problem with the grind. Once. Not on each character. And soon that is exactly what i will have.

About 2-3 out of 5 because of lag, bugs, lack of actual feedback from devs, stupid RNG system with WAY too many useless items, etc.

Still, it's the best around for me until Legion comes out.

Never played Asheron's Call but this game probably ranks behind FFXI for me. The game I was most looking forward to besides ESO was EQ next. But that game was in developmental hell before it shut down.Shame because if had a bunch of potential.

It's hard to rate something you've played so long and invested so much time in.

I obviously love ESO so the fan boy in me wants to say 5 out of 5 stars.

However since I have played so long, my opinion has been skewed by things like the buy to play transition, the year with pretty much no content, Cloud store costume problems, the broken promises of Imperial City, and all the little tiny things that annoy me like Secunda's not reflecting in the water.... and Ladders. All those ladders! Oh how they taunt me!

So the frustrated consumer in me what's the rate ESO of 2 out of 5 stars.

If I try to remove all that, and give a score that is representative of the experience that someone would have coming into the game fresh... I have to give ESO 4 out of 5 stars.

As for recommending ESO, I never have been able to do that. Whenever I talk to people about ESO, always have to add all these caveats. They usually have questions and preconceived ideas about what ESO should be because they're either coming from the Elder Scrolls community or the MMO community. To be honest, there are too many places in which ESO fails that other games excel in. My conversations always usually end up with me saying "well, no, but..." at least a couple of times.

I'm relatively new to the game so don't really understand the veteran rank system and people's grievances with it, but overall I'm absolutely loving ESO. Great gameplay, good storyline, great area based quests that add to the overall story proigression of the region most of the time. Amazing cash shop with 0 pay to win and one time purchases that are account wide and forever.

Literally the only flaw I can find with the game is the lack of character customisation compared to newer titles and maybe the lack of class diversity. But given how many ways there are to build and play a class, that's not as much of an issue.

3/5 on ps4. If they added text chat and basic mmo things like buff timers it would be 4.5/5 (nothing is perfect)
