Crypt of Hearts - Last gate won't open

I've had this happen twice now, all the bosses have been taken out, but the last gate won't open. Is there a trick or requirement to open it?

✭✭✭Are you referring to the gate that leads back to the entrance of the dungeon?

This happens if someone in your group has the dungeon story quest. They need to complete the steps in that quest (breaking the phylacteries) before the gate can open.
If they are unable to complete the quest steps (e.g., if the phylacteries are broken out of order, thus getting the story quest stuck), then your only option is for that person to abandon the story quest.
Once the story quest objectives have been met, or the story quest has been abandoned, the gate will open.Nightfighters ― PC/NA and PC/EU

That must have been it as one of party members got fed up and left, we were finally able to open that gate to get to the final boss. We searched high and low trying to figure out what needed to be triggered to open it, clearing out every trash mob we could find.0 -

✭This is still bugged. Sat for 25 minutes waiting for it to open. All quest objectives were met... and even when players left just my wife and I in the dungeon (both of us vr16s and completed this quest before) the gate remained closed.0
