How is paying monthly for the game considered "elitist?"

We played since beta and payed ever since. I'm entitled and you're not.
We don't get enough benefits, Crafting Bags which so many have waited for is perfect for a Sub-only feature (say the Subs).
I've consulted with lots of Crafters and players in-game. It's obviously not a very supported concept there. These forums will always include far more of the Subs/long time/high level players. It's why I referenced the vMA poll. A large majority of console players will not pay a subscription. They'll buy it outright. This just makes people really unhappy.Doncellius wrote: »The results of this poll will determine just how out of touch/elitist "sub vs non-sub" these forums are compared to the actual in-game playerbase. Obviously, yes! Lol. I bought all three DLCs. I bought a mount. I spent a ton of $$$, far more than any game I have ever played. Still have almost 9K Crowns left and will purchase more if necessary. There is exactly a 0% chance of me subbing based on this unfairlysub-only feature.

It is definitely not limited to this game but the MMO sphere in general. Subs have catastrophically failed to support MMO's across the industry with only a handful of exceptions(perhaps less). Yet it is the subs who never fail to accuse, belittle and degrade a large portion of a game's playerbase as if they somehow contribute less. We usually pay a premium for flexibility, and that is why we have chosen to support and spend on games like ESO, but apparently that is not enough. Apparently many feel that their value as an ESO+ subscriber would be less if the rest of us could buy this great feature. They would still get the feature included in their monthly sub along with all the other benefits but they would not feel as special if others could buy access. I have spent the last 10 hours trying to determine a better reason although at this point I'm ready to chalk it up to elitist ***. I might be over-generalizing, but I think that it may be the #1 reason to what is driving such resistance against this feature going in the crown store.

See, had this game stayed sub based we would not be having this conversation. Everyone would sub and get the bag.
But because it is a two tier system and you don't have to sub, you of course can just purchase crowns and the DLC separately.
Just because I have subbed from the beginning, it of course in my eyes does not make me a better customer than those who pay for things with crowns. But before this game went B2P, there were loyalty rewards for your subscription for subbing, and this is merely an extension of that.
In my opinion, those who sub stick around longer than those who purchase things with micro transactions. Look at those who have loyally subbed to WoW for 10 years, for example. That is just my opinion and nobody else's. If they put it in the Crown Store too, it would not be an extension of loyalty rewards and a nice perk for being a subscriber. And giving out the odd perk is a nice acknowledgement from ZOS to subscribers.

You can have your opinion. Totally fair.
The issue with this ESO+ Exclusive Loyalty Item and past rewards is:
1) It drastically improves game experience and convenience. Far more than an extension of loyalty rewards.
2) Highly requested for a long time. All players pretty much want it. Little to no players who are Non-Subs will Sub because of one item. Rather, they will say "Wow ZOS wtf total b**** move guys.".= very bad for reputation.
3) Past rewards were fine since they were Mounts/Pets /Costumes. Cosmetics which showed off your loyalty but were no more than that. Perfect.
As for staying sub-based... well... you wouldn't have gotten console players to stick around long enough to have a full server left in PvP during prime time.

No, I completely agree. If the game had purely stayed sub based as opposed to what it is now, it likely would not still be here. And you are, of course as entitled to your opinions as I am.
I do like it when people here can disagree like adults haha.
To me, I would not say it drastically improves the game experience. It just makes things more convenient - AKA a convenience item. Mules, to me, are a pain so it will make things more convenient.
However, we can certainly merely agree to disagree

Many people will never act nearly as civil on these forums.

I have sub. But if someone else buys it from crown store, it doesn't hurt me at all. Every player is equal.

you posted a biased poll, admitted you have a vendetta, and then threw in those terms in your opening statement. sounds like you already have some "baggage". but oh well, enjoy!!!
