EDIT: It should even be possible to create them a playable homeland as a slice of oblivion. And the storylines/quests almost write themselves. DLC anyone?
All Daedra are minions of one of the daedric princes. So they could not be a playable race.
Fatahala is an Ayleid turned Dark Seducer, however refuses to serve Molag Bal. She's technically a Dremora now, so she counts.
Lyranth is a Dremora who seemingly went behind Molag Bal's back to aid the Vestige with part of the assault on Coldharbour, not to further some greater plot of her lord but instead to selfishly get revenge on another Dremora which I'm sure is a big no no in Coldharbour.

And there could simply be some who were not minions of anyone. Perhaps who are a break away faction. If humans, elves, khajiit, and argonians can turn bad and even serve Molag Bal, there is no reason Daedra can't turn good and even serve The Eight. It does not have to be IN existing lore so long as it does not BREAK existing lore. There seem to be an unlimited number of "pocket of oblivion" worlds, so they could live in one of those, sized just right for a DLC.
And if anyone is really worried about them interacting with other races, they could have a racial skill called Glamor that lets them appear as members of the viewer's race. Or someone could come up with an even better solution. The point is, there are solutions and ways around these issues if we just put our minds and our imaginations to it.
...and that is part of why Dremora are not really a viable idea for PC races. SInce they would need an entirely new game of their own for story-wise interaction...Korah_Eaglecry wrote: »Theres also the issue of trying to write a compelling and believable story for the Dremora. The Dremora would need a whole new story aside from the Vestige since the whole story arc is about regaining your soul. Should just one newly added race get their own storyline separate from the other 10?

I mean, you'd be "kill on sight" all over tamriel, no questgiver would ever trust you to actually DO what they might ask you to... so they won't... no mortal vendor would trade with you, instead they would all run away screaming for some hero to bash you back to oblivion...ContraTempo wrote: »How about one of the daedra races? Best we might get is some DLC where out heroes become allies with some daedric power, and get to follow a questline from the "daedra PoV" for a while. Which actually might be quite interesting...
Now you can. But... originally that was not intended.7788b14_ESO wrote: »I like the Daedra idea. It would work just like the Werewolf and Vampire work. The quest line doesn't care what you are. NPC's currently ask you to help kill Vampires when you, yourself stand before them in stage 4.
Yeah, the way people remember things you did in other factions... that really is a flaw in the game structure. And I would have liked it if the character appereance was changed for all of cadwells silver/gold... go to DC lands with your dunmer? Become bretonish looking while there. Go to AD lands? become altmerish looking as long as you are there. Then regain your usual appearance when finishing cadwells and for the rest of the game... That sort of thing...7788b14_ESO wrote: »You even come back to do quest lines under every faction now, even if they say no one knows you now, your character never changes, and everyone still remembers your deeds in your home faction. Lore is not that deep in this game.
