It's the v3 dedicated "tank" who does not understand the mechanics of Fungal Grotto and ragequits telling me that my healing sucks that I have a much bigger problem than people who can fulfill multiple roles if asked.

If it's a VR16 healer wearing Spellcure gear that cannot be purchased but only acquired by doing many runs of a more difficult dungeon, odds are more honest introspection than blaming her would likely lead to a better resolution.

That, of course, is just my opinion and why I stopped using the group-finder.

Same here. My nightblade has both DPS and Tank set, but I do one or the other. I don't try to do both. (although technically I do, do damage as a tank, but no where near as much as a DPS would). I have 2 sets of gear and different skill lines for both.

Last night I was in a group with my healer, where the Tank only had Tank set, but was running around in heavy armor and 2H sword and had 18k health. Using WB on everything, even large mobs. He had no taunt on his bar. I asked (after every boss aggroed to me and had me running in circles casting heals constantly) and was just ignored. Sadly, he wanted to dps and was really bad at it. I was out dps'ing him as the healer.

Had another tank like this the past weekend. He kept getting killed in one or two hits by everything. In the final boss fight the healer just said "let him stay down he's no help anyway".

On my Healer I've been able to do DPS/Heals, but only in some cases where the group is really good. It seems either the group is great, or I get a group that anything less than spamming BOL and everyone dies.

If you are PUGging and expect perfection, you are probably going to be disappointed.

My tank can swap out and DPS enough for most dungeons, but she's a better tank. She's magicka and fully leveled in resto and could probably make a decent jack-leg healer. My sorc can heal or DPS, but she's a better DPSer and even tanked Molag Bal once in a 5 man group with a good healer backing her up. My templar is spec'd in healing but can do serious damage (25k+) even at V4. But they are all very well-geared with lots of CP; so performing multiple roles isn't a stretch.

A level 20-something with multiple roles selected is probably just confused and misinformed. It's not like ZOS does anything in-game to educate players about role responsibilities.

No one is saying that someone shouldn't perform multiple roles or that they should be prevented from doing so. In other MMO's such as WoW you could perform at least two roles with dual specs, but you don't see an option to queue for multiple roles on their LFD system. You pick the primary role you're desiring to fulfill and you run with it. We are all fully aware that individuals that have been around for a while have the capacity to fulfill multiple roles at any give time. However, that does not mean the queuing system should allow for you to be selecting multiple roles.

Pick one and wait, and then if something falls through readjust if needed. The key contrast being drawn here is if you are only allowed to select one role then everyone else is too. Which typically will produce groups that can actually make it through the dungeon rather than the crap shoot that exists today. Just tell your group hey I can fulfill role x, y, or z if we need it. In the long run allowing only one selection for the primary role you will be playing can alleviate a number of other issues as a result. It appears just from the responses of several posters that many players that can play multiple roles take offense to their character being told they can only select one role when it should not be taken as such.

They should do what every other MMO does and not let you choose your role. They should choose it for you based on the skills you've selected, CP's assigned and gear worn. But this will never happen in ESO as it would require good code monkeys (my opinion).
