Feedback for 64-bit Client

In the most recent PC/Mac incremental patch (2.3.9), we implemented a number of fixes for the 64-bit client. If you have a machine that meets the requirements, we’d love to get some feedback from you on how the client is performing. Once you manually launch the 64-bit client and play the game for a bit, please answer the following questions:
  1. Are you still running into issues with the audio?
    • If so, what specifically are you having trouble with? This could include incorrect sounds, static, or missing audio.
  2. Are you still seeing any pink or missing textures?
    • If so, how often?
  3. Are you experiencing any crashes?
    • If so, what were you doing when you crashed? Did you receive any specific error message?
  4. Are you running the game with any addons?
    • If so, which ones?
    • Note that out-of-date addons may cause you to run into issues, so please make sure they are up to date or temporarily disable them.
Thanks for your help!

    No more issues with audio.

No more issues with missing textures.

No more crashing issues, but, I get huge ping spikes (999) when using the 64-bit client.

Played with all addons disabled and still got the ping spikes. This only happens with the 64-bit client; I've never had the issue with the 32-bit client. Unfortunately this makes the 64-bit client very hard to use.

I've tried launching the 64 bit client a few times. I'm able to log into my account with no problems, but loading a character hangs indefinitely and the spinning Ouroboros stops spinning. When this happens I have to restart my computer to regain control. I have not yet tried disabling addons since the 32 bit client is working fine, but I'll try that next.

Bring up the launcher as normal so you're all patched up, then go into your program files (x86) folder, Zenimax Online - The Elder Scrolls Online - game - client, and then load eso64.

    1. Are you still running into issues with the audio?
Yes. I'm experiencing a static noise all the time and in crowded cities like Rawl'kha it's like entering into a really bad rock performance.

The pet sound is also too loud when using this client.
This sound eclipse any other sound and it's annoying.
I'm also hearing sounds I'm not supposed to hear...like someone using charging maneuver while mounted but he is hundreds of meters away.
Also, burning fire, siege and repair sounds even though I'm not near the players who are involved in this.
Birds sounds in Wrothgar for example are just too high...

    2. Are you still seeing any pink or missing textures?

    Not yet.

    3. Are you experiencing any crashes?

If so, what were you doing when you crashed? Did you receive any specific error message?

Yes. I'm experiencing crashes mostly in Cyrodiil and when teleporting to a wayshrine inside and outside of Cyrodiil.
Sometimes I did nothing and sometimes there was a huge AVA fight, kind of random.

    4. I checked it with and without addons, same results.

    Best of luck :)

It seems to be fixed for me, I see sometimes lag spikes, but those are explainable - lots of people around - and they are no longer 999+ and just temporary. I did not experience any crashes since the patch, but I might just have played for a total of maybe 4 hours since then. I did not recognize any weird or out of place sounds. Hardware is Nvidia 760 GTX and dedicated soundblaster. FPS in average around 30-45 in crowded cities and around 70 in less crowded places.

Are you still running into issues with the audio?
Yes. Getting random static and squeaky noises in Cyrodiil, but it is much improved.

Are you still seeing any pink or missing textures?
    No issues.

    Are you experiencing any crashes?
    No crashes.

Are you running the game with any addons?
Advanced Filters, AwesomeGuildStore, BankIt, ChampionXP, Circonians PvP Ranks, CookeryWiz, Crafting Stations, Destinations, Foundry Tactical Combat, Harven's Improved Skills Window, Harven's Trait and Style, Lorebooks, Lost Treasure, Master Merchant, Multicraft, Potion Maker, PublicDungeonChampions, Shissu's LUA Memory, Skyshards, Sous Chef, Taos AP Session, Wykkyd Framework, Wykkyd Outfitter

FPS seems to be more consistent, though I am still getting random drops in Cyrodiil where I'll go from 60+ FPS down to 5-10 for small periods of time before it picks up. Nothing can be around me when this happens, but overall FPS is vastly improved for me.

I have not yet seen missing textures, however all the usual sound bugs still exist.

A critical problem with the 64bit client for me is the delay on displaying some mobs, where this does not happen on the 32bit client. This happens on mobs that spawn, such as portals in vDSA/vMA, mobs from vMoL, zombies on Ibomez the Sculptor.

Static yes, random noises play on a loop. Example: in Belkarth yesterday, a sound of a male character vocalizing started playing over and over. I entered the bank, it stopped. I exited the bank, the sound began again. Random ambient sounds louder than they should be, Cyrodiil seige makes a roaring noise even when not deployed.

One instance of pink and black textures, yes, when porting from a delve in Bankorai to the wayshrine. Big rocks all over the zone were pink and black. Didn't go away till I changed terrain from forest to desert.

I experience crashes about every 30 minutes to 45 minutes. No matter if I'm idle, in PVP, a dungeon, or crafting. Sudden drop to logout screen, occasionally not closing the game and forcing me to reboot when task manager won't open (only game this happens with). Repairs and reinstalling the game did not stop the crashes. I did upgrade to Windows 10 rather than get a fresh install of it, I heard others have this problem. Its so bad I dropped my sub because of this.

I am running only a few important addons, like skyshards and lorebooks, kill counter, lost treasure, master merchant, advanced filters, lui extended.

    1. Last night, after a fairly long play session, I experienced the random white noise hiss while picking up the pledge in Grahtwood. - Update: Tonight experienced more white noise this time in Wrothgar. Also riding my sench through Reaper's March sounds like someone biting an apple.

    2. I never had this problem.

    3. I experienced a game client lockup while alting between characters once last night.. Update: Experienced the same lockup again tonight. It happens after I select the new character to load into.

    4. I run many addons: Srrendar's, LUIE, Master Merchant, Lorebooks, Skyshards, Lost Treasure, Voltan's Fisherman, Rare fish tracker, kill counter, several wykkyd's addons, destinations, Harven's Trait and style...

Issues with audio: Lots! Randomly during combat, audio sounds from skills will play several seconds after casting. This deeply affects my performance, as the audio cues are very important. And yes, this persisted after 2.3.9

Pink Textures: No more, not for a while. Not significantly important anyway compared to other things.

Crashes: None, which I don't need to tell you is a good thing.

Mods/Addons: Advanced Filters, AUI, AlphaGear, Auto Invite, Awesome Guild Store, Destinations, Dustman, Kill Counter, Lorebooks, Lost Treasure, LUI (outdated but no errors so far) Master Merchant, Fyrakin's Minimap (Need a vanilla one, also outdated but without errors), pChat, Skyshards, Wykkyd Toolbar, and at least a dozen other ones that likely have no impact.

    Honorable mentions:

Mobs used to spawn on the 64-bit client and take over 3 seconds to appear on screen. During those few seconds they would do their mechanics as normal, you just couldn't see anything. Have not seen it since the patch, but with the audio cues as noted above, I refuse to test more, as it makes combat more difficult than on the 32-bit client.

Used to get FPS drops on the 64-bit client, do not know if that was fixed though. the patch I believe fixed the issue of 1 cpu core staying ramped up causing the lag, but that is definitely not the only cause of memory leak/FPS drops.

I always test the 64bit client every time it's patched and inevitably go back to the 32bit aftre an hour or two. This patch is no different.

    1. Yes - random static and out of place sounds - this usually starts happening after an hour or two of play, but once started is more or less constant.

Yes, my game client seems to be picking up the audio sounds of other players all around the zone. There is often loud static sounds as well.

2.Are you still seeing any pink or missing textures? •If so, how often?
Yes, I just noticed some of the Orc styled guard towers in Greenshade were pink from a distance but changed to their proper texture and color as I drew closer. It seems some of the distant texture swapping is still bugged.

3.Are you experiencing any crashes? •If so, what were you doing when you crashed? Did you receive any specific error message?

I have not experienced any more crashes, but after a while of playing in IC sewers the framerate drops in half and the game becomes very sluggish.

I was having no real issues with the 64 bit client until AFTER the patch. It then promply crashed 4 time in 10-15 minutes. I switched back to the 32 bit client and did not crash again. The latest fixes went backwards for me much like the first DLC caused my frames to more than halve (and that still has not changed).

I can hear some audio FX repeating, or occurring at the wrong time. For example, in Cracked Wood Cave, I was hearing the sound of a player character grunting over and over, and occasionally I hear the sound corresponding to an ability about 10-20 seconds after I'm supposed to hear it.

EDIT: After playing a bit more, I'm noticing frequent crashing compared to prior to this patch. Usually the game is crashing when I'm viewing a UI menu for a few minutes such as guild store menu, submit feedback menu, bank menu, mail inbox, etc. Interestingly, after the game crashes, I still hear the audio. Not sure if this is relevant, but every time I launch the game, I get the out of memory LUA error message. I have 16GB RAM and Lua memory is set to 256 in the usersettings file. I tried increasing this to 512 or 1024, but the game won't even launch at that setting.

I still get static and loss of audio, most noticeable in Cyrodiil. I also got a weird effect where the the sound switching menus was instead a 'hah' in a female voice. This was on a male character by the way.

I haven't noticed any missing textures in a while.

I still get a crash here and there. Last two was during a big keep battle in Cyrodiil, the other quitting for the night on a character who was in Cyrodiil, non vet campaign. Game locks up, screen goes black, usually have to hit ctrl+alt+del to end the program or even just get to my desktop. Sometimes the crash report will come up on its own just as I open the task manager.

No add-ons, though I did get a couple UI error messages while running a normal dungeon over the weekend. Something about LUA being out of memory, but again, not running any add ons.

***Should note this is all before the most recent patch

1: Yes, majorly. As bad as before if not worse. Just random sounds while standing still, mostly ambient-type sounds that cut off quickly. Waterfalls are a common one. Still super loud static. The issues get worse the longer the client is used.

    Hello ZOS staff,

I've been getting an issue with the hot pink textures from a few week ago. The only thing that I've done different in the last 3 week was trying the 64bit beta client. That being said I did see hot pink textures in the beta and players have been talking about this in guild chat & zone prior to me trying 64bit beta. I knew this effect over long periods of time could possibly have negative effect on the graphics card so I closed the client down but not before noticing polygons missing under Rawl'kha/ Outlaws Refuge.

    https://www.facebook.com/marketpa1ace.tradersguild/posts/1691765931112841

Since then I've have been playing back on the 32bit.exe and strangely enough the issue with the hot pink textures has jumped over. Also on top of that I am now getting kicked out of game almost none stop with crash reports (a number of them have been submitted & in game reports).

    https://www.facebook.com/marketpa1ace.tradersguild/photos/a.1705316426424458.1073741834.1590627197893382/1705316449757789/?type=3&theater

I've tried many suggested steps to repair, turn addons off, nab the latest graphics drives & fool around with settings (high to low) but to no avail. The most common time I have noticed this is when using wayshrines & after a load time followed by pink NPC Traders, mobs... etc. I've also noticed that when you do not step out of a zone but just stand there for 40 minutes, it does not happen at all (hosted a guild raffle from the bank teller in Rivenspire, Shornhelm).

My rig & running all the latest drivers:

    Corei7 (940) @3.05ghz (no O.C)
    24 gig RAM @1066 (no O.C)
