4 times (at least) during the last 2-3 weeks, the EU server has collapsed leaving people unable to play. Sound issues, supposedly corrected, still make the game hideous with many people having to play with the sound off. Lag and rubber-banding still seriously affecting the game to the point were an entire community (PvP) has been decimated, either taking a break from the game or playing something else.
ZOS - this is not good work. Many of us pay a subscription and are more than happy to do so. We realise that subscriptions help to support the development of the game. Only, the bugs are piling up.
I can appredciate that there must be a certain amount of loyalty to the staff, but this is a recurring issue and it's absolutely destroying player morale. An effective production manager should be on top of these problems and making the big decisions needed to get this fantastic game back on track.
People are paying in advance for a broken service. I would rather ZOS say "we are going to take the game offline for 7-14 days while we intensively address the issues that are impeding performance right across the game." - if you said that I would actually be happier because it would prove to me how invested you are in the game and the playerbase; the community. Having the server drop off and losing a days subscription is incredibly disheartening. The previous 3 times I've been "sh*t happens!". But this repeateded failing - someone has to be called to account for this.
Either make the necessary changes and get in someone who knows how to fix the problem or take the server offline for a week or two and test, retest, retest, retest, until the game is stable and the performance issues minimised. You are happy to take our subscription, so give us a game we can be proud of again. I KNOW you can do it!

Even if they do that, which i doubt very much, you just know somewhere down the line they are going to *** it up again, and we'll be back to square one.

Oh, I know. I work as a manager for the retail customer services department of a bank in the UK. I know that if the software our teams use goes a bit wonky, I will temporarily stop the entire office and get it fixed, otherwise my teams are then trying to do their jobs with one hand tied behind their back. And then the customers may kick off because it affects them. Luckily it has never gotten to that stage because I will make big , tough decisions if I have to. And if it is to benefit the customers, then it is an absolute must.
This is certainly true. You have to remember that the F2P move was not agreed or welcomed by everyone on the team.
And this is not.A majority left as they did not want to be associated with the kind of betrayal that Zos did to the then paying community.
There is popular saying in dev industry, that any task (even impossible ones) can be done by finite number of interns. But joking aside, i think biggest problems with game are not devs fault, but their higher-ups. They have way too much work to do.Unfortunately these were mostly the original developers with the intimate knowledge of the coding ESO uses, they took that knowledge with them and the ones that were left were basically the interns or the ones that you wouldn't head-hunt.
Since they post no info about that, we don't know what are the problems with servers. It could be their net code or it could be 3rd party issue with hosting service. You can tell this is true by every patch that's happened since F2P and the fact they cannot even keep the servers up for more than a week now without a cascade failure.
Most devs look at their work with pride, and want for it to be as good as possible. I'm sure same thing is at ZoS. I think source of problems and bugs is elsewhere...Soo much money......wasted.

Just to be clear, mainly because it is not fair to anyone if things are too distorted, the EU server has been a target of DDoS attacks. I do not know if those continue, but they will certainly impact performance, can cause lag, probably rubberbanding as the server and client resync. When this is happening (or being mitigated) it can make it prone to disconnects (when they do not sync) and difficulty connecting. I am sure that the DDoS people want nothing more than to drive people away from the game.
While I am not saying this is the only cause of this, one does have to recognize that there are multiple factors involved here. Yes, there is "The Lag" problem, but on EU, any DDoS attack is going to make that much much worse.

Maybe ZOS should hire you as head of CS. You seem to have a better understanding than them what CS means.

What?! I'm so surprised at this... and here I thought this whole time it was me not playing the game properly. You mean to tell me that crashing upon login every day for 4 weeks straight is not an intended feature? Where the hell have I been?!

You must have got the special edition with bonus features
Thank you, made my day
The only reason they can do it is because there are no laws yet about this kind of crap, if it were another type of product everyone would be getting full refunds and then they would care enough not to let it get this bad.
A lot of businesses get hit by DDOS attacks, supermarkets, online banks, Amazon etc. The difference here seems to be that they take action to try and stop it happening again. Here it appears that they wait it out and then ignore it until it happens again.
I host a number of websites and if my network was suffering from attacks this often then I would be looking for a new network manager or a new hosting provider. Probably both within hours of it happening for a second time in a short while
