Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• [IN PROGRESS] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)

(ZOS REFUSES) ZOS, an extra day of cake to make up for this maintenance please!

They didn't have to give us a week long buff of 100% xp, but they did.
They didn't have to give us 2 more days because the XP bonus cap wasn't set high enough, but they did.
Maintenance took a few extra hours (because normal maintenance is a few hours always), but this time they didn't.
Clearly this means ZoS is unreasonable and hates us.

They already extended due to the bug with the XP scrolls and they refunded the scrolls to those who submitted a ticket. If someone skipped work for to play a video game then that's on them, not ZOS.

Hey guys, apologies for the delay. Today, we ran into some technical issues during our PC NA maintenance window, which we are still working to resolve. We’re currently planning to bring the server back up within the next hour or so. If that changes, we’ll be sure to let you know. We understand that this also impacts the final day for our Anniversary Event, but because we have already extended the event by two days, we do not plan to extend it an additional time.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and appreciate your patience while we continue maintenance. There will still be a patch today that will include some bug fixes, and those patch notes will be published very soon.

I dunno... I think they were reasonable about the cake. They did extend it two days... but then took one day, so we're still one day up! It does suck for your friend, but maybe they should take this as a learning opportunity to not wait until the last minute... in anything... and not ask a company to make exceptions for very specifically and special circumstances.

MornaBaine youre ASSUMING they screwed up the patch and you have the audacity to suggest it was intentional.

They stated they had TECHNICAL difficulties that they did not anticipate. One of the servers may have had a hardware problem and needed to be fixed which caused the patch to be delayed. These servers work 24/7 and they work rather hard running this game. Its part of the deal in any video game. Things break down some times and need to be fixed. It was just bad timing, get over it.

This is really the most important thing in your life to worry and get this upset over...seriously?
Getting all bent out of shape, demanding, whining and crying over 8 lousy hours out of 10 days on a FREE buff in a video game because they needed to take care of, you know the very equipment that needs to run smoothly, so they can get them back up and running again is just pathetic and flat out childish.

I got news for you, there is so much more in life to live for than 8 hours of XP buff in a video game.
Ill probably get some mod hate mail but there, I said it. I hope they lock this thread and let it sink into oblivion.

How do you figure your friend isn't guilty of poor planning? Waiting to take advantage of a limited time item until the last day, a day in which maintenance is regularly scheduled anyway, sounds like pretty poor planning to me. Did ZOS ever say they weren't gong to have maintenance today?

I'm not saying ZOS is faultless... at all. Sure ZOS screwed up in multiple ways, but I don't see how they "owe" anyone anything for longer than expected maintenance. This is especially true since they already extended the buff by 2 days.

ZOS took it upon themselves to try to make up for their blunder with the implementation of the cake by extending the event by 2 days and then they get flack for their regular maintenance taking longer than expected. They extended their promotion by two days. This is true... the fact that a good portion of one of the days ESO was down is immaterial. As many have stated, it does still work... the promotion was still extended by two days. Advertisement fulfilled.

Would it have been nice to get another extension? Of course it would have been.

Are players justified in feeling like we should have gotten an extension? Sure...

Does this mean that ZOS is doing something wrong by NOT extending a promotional event that they already extended by two days by an additional day? Absolutely not.

I kind of see it like someone winning the lottery then complaining about getting less when they take one lump sum... Sure, it's ok to feel like it's a raw deal, because it is. However, a reasonable person would just understand that this is "how it works" and not expect changes to be made.

Cleverness pays off. On the chance that active effects would remain across the patch, I used my cake in the last 1 minute before the server went down. When I logged back on after downloading the patch, I was already in Rkindaleft, nearly by myself, and had the most perfect lag-free 2-hours of prime cake experience.

    Well... don't I look foolish...

But not unusual for me. I was thinking yesterday was Monday. Ever since I stated working swing shifts I completely lose track of the day of the week.

What's worse is that I even went and made sure the maintenance is scheduled for Mondays!

Ok. So with that bit of info I must recend some of my statements.

    I'll just say:

Yea, it would have been nice if ZOS extended it by a day. I agree... they should have done that last Friday when they announce that the maintenance was going to be on the last day of the cake buff. But since they didn't, your friend shouldn't have planned to take that day off.

Of course not everybody pays attention to such things, obviously I am an example of that.

UPDATE: And @ZOS_GinaBruno announces ZOS's refusal of this reasonable request.

    Oh for heaven's sakes.

Someone gives you a prezzie and you say you want more, they don't give more and you say unfair?

    sigh.....

Let's be real. It's not a present. It's a promotion. It did not work as advertised and caused a good deal of consternation among customers, many of whom paid money out they would not have otherwise. The 2 extra days were not a gift, they were an apology for the inept way this promotion had been implemented. Then, they took virtually one entire of those 2 days away because they ineptly managed a patch. I really don't think anyone would have complained if the patch had just taken 2 hours but 8 was far too much. The logical and ethical thing to do in order to retain the good will of the customer base would have been to extend the promotion in order to make up for the lost time.

That anyone, ZOS especially, fails to see that is baffling to me.

I'm just baffled this is a big deal to you, or anyone that bought scrolls or took the day off feel you deserve something from a promotion, as you said. A promotion that has been extended by two days already and is still in effect. Perhaps less time on the forums, more in game eating cake? ;)

Threads like this make me sad. The only thing that's going to come out of this kind of pedantic complaining is that ZOS is just going to decide to never do anything like this again.

Remember how we used to get free respecs when they changed skills? And people complained about them? And now we get nothing? Yeah.

Threads like this are why we can't have nice things.

From what I have heard, we no longer get free respects because of console players (not sure how or why, but just a dirty rumor that makes no sense to me).

And I have to say, I have never eaten so much cake only to turn around and eat so much popcorn. Some people's heads are turning purple lol.

I'll just thank ZoS again for their very generous FREE xp that was not obligatorily given. It helped me a lot. And they deserve credit where they succeed just as much as blame where they fail.

Under different life circumstances, I admit I may do the same thing.

@emily3989 They usually do maintenance on Monday but announced on Friday that they were pushing it back to Tuesday. Most people have to give notice of a planned day off about a week before taking that day off. That's kind of what upset people, they planned a day off and the maintenance day got moved on them.

However on a side note; the cake was still working as of 12AM est, and if people spent less time complaining on the forums and more time playing the game, they'd know this. B)

    Hi everyone,

Whether providing feedback, or a debating an issue, it is very important that the discussion be kept civil and constructive. There's tremendous value in feedback and criticism, as well as any discussion, debate, or disagreement that arises - but this needs to be kept respectful.

A large number of posts have been removed from this thread, nearly a third of the discussion. This included some posts responding to removed content. While much of this collateral was unproblematic, it tended to not make sense without the post it replied to, or was continuing a side-topic we needed remove. Quite a number of these maintained the high tension of the discussion, even if they didn't cross the rules themselves.

We're re-opening this thread, and ask that everyone take care with how they are posting. Mocking, demeaning, or insulting others for their opinions - directly or indirectly - is not acceptable. This is true even if the target of your insults isn't specified, or even on the forums. Insulting people for taking take off from work to play a game is still inflammatory.
