Everquest is king when it comes to grinding, mob pulling and just about everything else in a MMO. I like playing ESO,but it's nothing compared to Everquest of 1999. Most of you today wouldn't be able to handle how hard Everquest was. You would rage quit. I'm sick and tired of all the hand holding in today's MMOs.
I think it is hilarious when someone uses move away from me, that just gives me an incentive to ruin their grind, and to people who think that it is their own dedicated spot, meh
You know...a grinder may not be entitled to an area but neither are you (questers). If someone's grinding in your quest hub could you not just try to avoid the mobs in their loop (usually pretty easy to figure out) and finish your quest without hassle?
Also here's something to think about next time a grinder seems like a ***. These people are usually up there with the simple task of leveling an alt for hours, and every few minutes a quester comes along and ruins the exp for them.
Also a PSA: Don't grind in groups of more than 2...you lose exp this way unless that finally got fixed.

I've remarked on this once in another thread.
After being told on one occasion to "get out, this is MY grind" in a dwemer ruin where I was trying to do a quest, and had my own questing hampered by jackasses, then as far as I'm concerned "grinding etiquette" can be stuffed firmly and fully where the sun doesn't shine.
I'm a little tired of being told what I can and can't or what I should and shouldn't be doing by over inflated egotists in the game who seem to think they own mobs or areas. At one point, I always tried to be polite, considerate and agreeable where others were clearly grinding, but having never received such considerations in return, I no longer give a stuff about grinding, and I will kill everything that I have to, to finish my objectives.

its not elitist, its about courtesy and sharing. we all know the grind spots are limited so why be an ass.

I'll give you the same answer I give others in zone when I get tired of their moaning about people not grinding properly or respecting some mystic grinders etiquette - because many of those areas of well populated mobs that you mistakenly define as 'grind spots' are also quest locations that people need to visit or simply areas in a shared game that others travel through, rather than calling others asses for simply playing the game maybe you should reconsider how enormously self-centered and spoiled you come off by thinking you have a right to claim a particular area and the mobs within it to yourself. And the lack of self awareness to use the words courtesy and sharing in a sentence designed to tell rudely people to get off your personal grinding area area is epic.
Many players don't chose to grind, need to grind or want to grind - we simply want to enjoy the content without tedious little blanks telling us which areas we can and can't kill mobs in because they feel it is their private hunting ground...

Solution- Keep an eye on the people around you to see if you are missing something or pulling mobs the wrong way. Also send a message to correct someone or suggest a new method.
High level players that have been around for a while will run ahead of other people and try to take as much as they can for themselves.
Solution- Slow down and stop being so greedy, or else the "low-level" people that most of you gripe about will contine to pull mobs in a awkward fashion just to get any xp at all.
I've been in both positions and been a victim of both positions. People just don't seem to care, so I'll be lounging over here until the week is over. I would rather grind slower without other greedy people making it more difficult for me.

In theory, no. Questing and exploring are game mechanics, grinding isn't. So in theory, questers have priority.
In practice, people *could* make some efforts to accomodate everyone. But that has to go both ways, and when you read the OP, it doesn't sound like it goes both ways.
Result : priority to questers, grinders out. Or just stfu...
Should grinding ever be something in ESO though? Grinding is not legitimate content like quests or dungeons are. It's just a boring shortcut that is only valuable by virtue of its increased XP gains. Not exactly a captivating experience, and its a good thing games are finding a way to not be so reliant on them.Uriel_Nocturne wrote: »Agreed.Everquest is king when it comes to grinding, mob pulling and just about everything else in a MMO. The grinding for levels in ESO is nothing compared to EverQuest. I hear people whining about having to grind in ESO, and I just chuckle to myself and move on.
I see grinding in ESO (as I'm running around Questing), I'll find a comfy spot on a hillock or bluff that overlooks the grinding loop area. I'll pull out my trusty chair, turn on area chat, and just amuse myself at the comments made while they're pulling 1,000 mob of Zombies over to them.
Then I move on, content that they have no idea what real grinding is.

No, I will kill whatever mobs I see on my way. I will never purposefully try to mess with grinders. I will not change course to take part in a big mass of grouped mobs. But I will kill everything in my path, even if someone else has already engaged the mob.
I really don't care if people are trying to maximize their grind. People can try to do all sorts of things in the game. But if people want the grind instead of playing the game, the burden is on them to make it work.
