Maelstrom Weapon Limit

Hey ZOS, remember how you hosed everyone who had worked so hard for CP by retroactively taking their CP away to make a cap? Please do same for maelstrom weapons. For everyone who has more than one, take all but the first one they received away. The others can stay in their inventory so they can see them. Then you can incrementally, maybe once every year or two like CP increases, give them one back. This will make things "fair" for those who can't get 20 of them.

While you are it, do the same for gold armor and weapons. Take all but one away from each toon, then dole them back out annually, or whenever you get around to it. People can still see them in their inventory, so they know they still have them, but they just can't use them -- just like CP. This will make things "fair" for those people who can't gold up all their gear.

Also, now that I think of, please do the same for crafting. If any toon has more than one crafting to level 50, please take those skills away for a year or three. It's just not "fair" that some toons are at 50 on multiple crafting skills, and some aren't. Just like CP, they can still be at 50 on all crafting types, but they just can't use the skills until your ace team of developers decides the time is "ripe."

I also suggest that when you do hand stuff back, do it just like with the CP you snatched away: just one little thing at a time for years. I think this method of "snatch/slow-dole back" is a great PR move, as everyone will see how "fair" you are. Thank you.

Most MMOs I have played have done some sort of cap. A lot are just gear caps, once you get the endgame gear you are capped. If they remove CP cap, people will be almost one shotting veteran dungeon bosses almost(exaggerating a little but you get the point). You can't make a mmo with endless stat progression, it would never ever work, would be 100% impossible to get the right difficulty for endgame. And majority of the players don't want to pvp against people with 1000 CP. I would quit in 2 secs if they didn't cap CP.

I am above the CP cap. And think it's perfectly fair and good for the overall health and balance of the game.

(Also, if you have 20 staves, you can still only equip one per bar anyway.)

Just want them to take everything away from everyone, then give it back a year or two later like CP. Fair is fair.

Fair is fair. The guys who started playing last week can't get all these maelstrom weapons and gold gear and multi-crafters at 50. We need a level playing field here. Please cap all gear and traits just like CP. Then you can give some back later, a drib and drab at a time, just like CP. There is nothing wrong with taking stuff away from those who worked hard for it, at least so long as you let them keep looking at the stuff they can't use, just like CP. But that's ok because they will get it back someday, just like CP. That is fair.

I love the arguements against CP.

First of all noone will be one shotting anything. Most people already have all their points into their offensive trees.

Secondly there is no endless progression. You can only put 100 points into each star a cap of 3600.

As far as PvP goes its all a balance. In the end when everyone has 3600 everyone will get no bonus over each other. You want balance play no CP campaign. I earn my CP and would like to use them. Even at the insane amount of xp it takes to get them.

At this point if folks are undercap its a choice. I can take a new toon to v1 in 3 hours. And 40 mins per vet level after. The XP gains out there are insane.

I think the OP was demonstrating that should the same logic be applied to any other aspect of the game it would be considered quite ignorant. And he is correct.

so many people who do not understand how cp works, its been listed already but when you can only get 100 per skill you cannot stack 500 in magic damage or resists to be invincible. At this point with a no cp pvp server theres no longer a reason to cap it so if they insist on blocking people from progression why stop with just cp

@fastolfv_ESO since you seem to actually take this seriously ill give you a brief explanation about why CP are still making your charackter stronger, even after reaching 100 points into your most favoured star.

1st, all CP increase either HP, Mag or Stam depending on colour. This has diminishing returns, but has still some impact at higher CP levels.

2nd, while you cant stack 500 points into magic damage, you can stack 100 into magic dmg, 100 into spell crit, 100 into shield dmg, 100 into staff attack dmg and 100 into anywhere else in the ritual (eventually 120 for last stand). The same is true for all the defenses as well and the sustain passives.

3rd, You can go on your pokemon quest to collect them all. Them being the unlockable stars, some of which have very impactful effects.
Just one example: At the moment, with the cap, a mahicka sorcerer will invest 100 points into bastion first. Then he moves on to another constellation, probably to pump up either resistant, hardy, ele defender or thick skinned, or any combination in there, as he seems fit. Inan uncapped world a sorc with at least 660 CP can not only invest 100 points into bastion, but also 120 points anywhere in the lady. That way the sorc will gain the unchained perk, which greatly reduces stam cost after breaking free for a short window. Since he is a filthy magicka sorc this is a great window of opportunity for him to cast shuffle, which otherwise would be very costly, and make him require some decent resource management to not get CC locked. That resource management is no longer needed with unchained, and the sorc just got a whooping 20% dmg mitigation for free, on top of a chance to avoid all the funny CC and debuff effects that come flying with the dodged skills and a short purge from slow and root effects that are attached to some CC effects as well (petrify or fear for example).

All that said, the subject has been discussed to death and ZOS have made their decision, which Iagree with by the way.

ZOS, the CP cap was instituted to try and level out the pvp field due to people not wanting to pvp against people with a lot of CP. However, the cap crippled the fun progress of making our toons better for many of us. Now, for whatever reason, you seem to be delaying CP cap-raising. There is no need for this. Now that you will be instituting cp-free Cyrodil zones, there is no reason for a cap at all. Those who want to fight cp-free can do so. Please let the rest of us level again. Those who have stuck with you the longest are the most punished by your current policy.

Humbug. The CP cap is great for both PvP and PvE. The former, for the level playing field. The latter, so that game designers can tune difficulty appropriately, against a bounded power envelope. It's already difficult to balance PvE for low-CP casuals with mediocre skills and gear, and high-CP players who have optimized gear and rotations (and many would argue that the balance is pretty poor already). Uncapped CP would make this far, far worse.

And it gives competitive PvE a more level playing field, too.

The CP cap and catchup mechanic is 100% good for the game and for the game's health. And I'm speaking as someone who's perma-capped (i.e., I'm above the cap now, I will already be above the new cap when DB launches, and with their proposed rate of cap increases, I will likely always be above each new cap).
