Problem with Sorcerer Summons in New Patch

There is an issue with sorcerer summons "disappearing" under the ground/floor when you have them summoned and enter into a new area. They won't appear in the new area and instead their models are stuck underground. You can't see them but they can still gain aggro on enemies. Unfortunately they can't do any damage because their attacks just hit the ground/floor underneath the enemy. It wasn't a big deal when this happened before the latest patch because I could simply unsummon, then resummon my pets when I entered a new area. But now, because of the patch changes I can't unsummon my pets and resummon them.

If you're on PC, there's an addon called Pet Dismiss, which allows you to de-summon combat pets.

Needless to say I had to install it after having a similar problem.

You can also hit C and right click the pet in your buff bar to desummon.

I get the problem of an invisible pet a lot after using wayshrines or going through doors, getting very annoying.

So that's where my twilight is going.

The heals still tick so I know its there somewhere, considering i'm only using it for heals i don't mind if she's under the floor. But i was curious.

Unfortunately I am on Xbox One so I can't fix the problem. The only way to temporarily fix it is to weapon swap to unsummon them, but then I can't use my weapon swap during combat or I lose my summons. Stinks that I have to waste an entire weapon simply to "fix" the bug.

you can weapon swap in combat I do it a lot. even on my sorc before when the pet died you get hp was very beneficial swap bars gain hp swap back re summon while still dealing damage because of swapping from healing to dps bars. its fun ;)

EDIT: however I believe there should be a way to un summon the pet on console

Holding down the pet button for about 4 seconds desummons them I thought?

I just tested that, and if it's supposed to, then it doesn't work :C

Had this same issue in white gold tower, every time I walked through a door pet vanished but I could still use its abilities. Also on xbox one.

I use Overload swap to desummon them, since I use that action bar to level more skills they aren't on there. It seems faster than opening the character window and I just swap back and resummon. That bug doesn't bother me as much as when Pets decide to stop attacking altogether. I never used the command pet before, I find myself using it more and more just to get them to attack again; I think that is far more frustrating.

It is one of the greatest mysteries of the last beta why they changed this working solution in favor of "Go to your character menu and click your summons away".

Probably because of balance, like "OMG, the Vicious Death - Set and Proxy detonation for everyone make petless sorcs too strong, so we have to keep conjurers weak enough." ;)

Gees guys. Go to your character screen, scroll down to active effects and then highlight and unsummon the pet.

There have been like 18 threads about this, and im trying to answer each one.

But that's the point most are trying to get around to NOT having to constantly open their character screen just to unsummon a pet. Players want a fast way while in the regular HUD or some way to recall pets to be by your side.

There is a previous thread on this issue, and I made support request back then.
BTW, this problem has been happening to me for months on PC.

No resolution yet in about 5 days.

Or, they could fix the bug so pets don't phase into the ground...

The problem isn't the "unsummon" mechanic, it's the bug that causes the summons to need to be resummoned.

Actually, it sounds like it's both...

You're right, ideally both issues should be fixed. First, the summons "disappearing," and second, the ability to unsummon them.

Heck, this still happens with some quests with an NPC follower, they either simply won't follow or will just never enter buildings with you... it's very annoying.

Fortunately I have yet to run into this problem (fingers crossed). But if the coding for followers and summons is similar, then we should vocalize it within the category of summons to see if that can get fixed as well.

Why did they even remove the ability to desummon them by holding the button down?

Because you have to cast their special abilties now. So in order for your pet to heal you and itself you must use it as its an ability instead of a toggle. Where the pet use to be able to auto use the special abilties they have, now you have to do it for them. For pc players its easy to get rid of them still just have to push c and right click on the pets in buff screen. I am not sure how it works on consoles it might be harder for them. Which I am sure it is because without a mouse its harder to navigate to menus like attributes menu.

So basically it could be a real hassle for console players, but not much of a hassle for those with a mouse and a key board.

Actually what I was referring to was on the PTS they had a short period where you could desummon the pets by holding they key down instead of just pressing it once like it was before.

Its possible they patched that option out, I don't know exactly but I think they did.

They mentioned it in the PTS patch notes but I don't remember them ever saying a reason why they did that. I didn't notice any issues and kinda liked how it worked.

They should have left the desummon as it was by hold down the button.
