Numerous audio problems with 64-bit client

I'm running 64 bit client, and occasionally my skills will start to play random sounds when I activate them. It can be quite hilarious, but also annoying.

I have had my dark cloak sound like all of the following:
    Bow Light attack
    Meteor
    Engine guardian proc
Some sort of squeak that sounds like a dog toy.
    Fear
    A very sensual grunt...
I have know idea how to explain it besides planes crashing.
The initial cast of Proximity Detonation
    A lion's roar

So... yah... some of those were quite hilarious. Every time I cloak it sounded like a dog toy... that was funny. The meteors, and plane crashes though were terrible.

I too have random audio pop in issues and odd sound effects at random times.
  • louweezi2preub18_ESO
With the patch this morning (3/14), I too am having random sound issues. It's both annoying & interfers with game play.

Sure hope fix is coming soon.

Go back to the 32 bit client. I stopped using the 64 bit client last week due to sound issues. They did not appear right away for me, but showed up after the two hotfix patches last week.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I've had a lot of sound issues with the 64 bit client, every time I've used it. The most common is short bursts of loud static, ranging from less than a second to about 3 or 4 seconds long.

But I've also noticed seemingly random sound effects, which as far as I can tell can be literally anything, from the sound of someone putting on a disguise to screams or monster calls, or crafting effects. The only consistent factor is that they're louder than normal.

I can't tell if they're playing in place of other sounds or if it is just random, but it seems to happen just as much in towns as out in the world or in dungeons.

Sound problems now are so severe (annoying) that I stopped using 64bit altogether. Literally there's a roller-coaster of sound effects that cycle between the playing. All kinds of noises.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Any info on this please, how are you progressing?

Ditto to the above, actually much more noticeable after patching today. I was actually only getting a few odd sounds while logging in and out before, but now it's a a continuous barrage of seemingly random and cutoff sound effects. Also, have only been in Abah's Landing so far today, not sure if it might be location specific. but it's bad...

I got the same problem as well with 64. To me, it seems the sounds of environment are the problem. Instead of playing through their lenght, they fall into an eternal loop before the sound effect finish.

And it only seems to affect environmental sound effects.

It seems that today's update did not fix the problem with strange sounds.

Still getting this in 2.3.7, 64bit though not all the time. It will come and go with the sound being messed up only about 10%-20% of the time now.

I think it is sound clips being swapped for the ones that should be playing. I noticed that while it was happening every time I would open a menu I would get the same sound, but it was not the right sound for opening menus. I would guess that the issue is something is occasionally messing up the math or look-up results (depending on how you have programmed it) that determines which sound clip to point to/play.

My theory is that it's not just white noise/static, but the sound of a waterfall, stream, or dolman. All those use a white noise like sound. I think the whole thing is not random, it's the wrong sound clips being played. If we could look in their database of sound clips would would probably see the clip that plays is some set number off from the one that should play.

I take it the sound problems haven't been fixed 100% yet even after the latest patch. Didn't see it listed in the notes.
Must be a bigger problem than I thought.

I would love to start using the 64 bit client. :disappointed: :

Tuesday's patch made the sound problems much worse for me (64 bit client. Tested 32 bit and have no sound problems but fps is much worse).

Before, I could restart the client a couple times and the problem would be gone. Now, that doesn't work AND the frequency of incorrect sounds is much worse. It is to the point where I won't use 64 bit anymore and would rather suffer through the 15-20 fps hit with the 32 bit client.

I have the same issue with the 64 client. However I noticed if I let the game "boot up/load" without interrupting the process (doing other things in the background) it works fine, if that makes any sense. I actual got "Olive Garden" as an announcement one time LOL.

Never mind...wishful thinking, it seems to be temperamental.

    There is the static noise...
There are weird noises (grunt, distorted goblin voice...) too...

And there are infinite loops of the same sound playing until a map change...

Imagine yourself playing, while hearing continuously the horse-call whistle repeating ad libitum (ad nauseam) !
    Or a door slap...
    Or a shout...

Its much better for me since the latest patch. No pink textures and no static and weird noises. However, they definitely didnt find the root of this problem yet... Considering you guys still having it.

Sound problems allover again... this time, music stops playing.

The sound issue is random, it's loud, and it's annoying. It's like missing sound files, it gets set off by a missing footstep sound, running water, or someone pouring a potion. The most annoying thing is missing/delayed speech.

Sometimes visual textures are still missing, but not as often. It seems to get worse over time, like a memory leak or something, and a /reloadui sometimes fixes it without having to close and restart the client.

    same problem here.
    i can choose:
a: 64bit client and weired, creepy noises, sound fading and that strange "static noise" even sounds i never heard before ingame like voices of gnomes
b: 32bit client with fps jumping around between 0 and 60 and pingrate doing the same thing 0-15000.

i run win7 64bit on an appropriate system and i can't decide which client version makes me more furious after a time...
either stutter/freezes and sounds are not bareable for a long time.

    please fix this!

A lot of the games ambient sounds dont play and there is a lot of static hissing noises still after the current patch. Same with many NPCs having no dialogue.

On trueflame NA PC sound was cutting out altogether and it wasnt just me. At the exact same time people were typing in zone saying they had no sound, and it came back on at the same time to. This is a server side issue.

So weird. I gave the *set as admin* option I saw someone say give a try and the sound was fixed for a few days. Now it's back to doing the random sounds bugging in and out. Tracked the problem down for now.
It seems to be tied in with ambient settings. After turning that all the way down, I haven't heard any more buggy sounds. Least not yet, I'd need to play longer than I have to see, but so far so good.

Or I can just go back to 32-bit and have 0 sound problems. Think that's what I'll do.

I dislike playing without ambient on, so I'll stick with 32-bit until I see a patch note that says it's fixed.

    UPDATE:

I wanted to try one more thing before going back to the 32-bit client. Try setting compatibility to win 7 as well as Run as admin. I'm not sure if it's fixed for good, but I've been running around playing for about an hour
now and so far so good.
