Numerous audio problems with 64-bit client

Finally back in game, I am hearing the odd sounds using eso64.exe, Win7 64-bit, Asus Strix R9 390X, Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.7058

One static burst is very consistent in Craglorn - anytime I go near or through fleshflies, it is a strong burst of static.
Just in case that helps the programmers...

I have no correlation for the other sounds yet.

Went to log in today and see we got a new patch. Sadly, didn't read anything on it about sound bugs or fixing them. :(
So I guess it's still broken.

My fix from my earlier post seems to work for anyone who wants it. I went back to the 32-bit client for now and no longer worrying about it. I am keeping an eye around here though. As soon as I see a fix, for sure will start using the 64-bit client.

i am also getting static, & i am using 64bit client. does the game use hardware sound or just software sound. I didn't see an option available.

Can ZOS please hire some coders to fix things. Cheers.

I've experienced all of the audio bugs plus one more to add that might also be a clue.

When in combat in Cyrodil I keep losing sound altogether for however long the battle last and or the voices are sped up so it's sounds like I am playing with Alvin and the chipmunks.

I am also still experiencing the audio glitches, where sound goes in and out, and the infernal static. The static is not often however. Is this just those of us running Windows 7?

I'm on Windows 10 pro 64 and have above sound glitches so it's not Windows 7 issue.
Hopefully it will be fixed because it hasn't yet despite the hot fix.

Just thought I'd "bump" this thread, sorry if I'm not contributing much but I just wanted to say I'm having the same audio issues. Someone posted a youtube video with the weird static and such... I get the exact same thing.

Although technically the client is playable (I've only ever gotten one crash in several hours of play), it is "unplayable" in the sense that any sense of immersion in the game is utterly crushed by this issue... the audio is horrible. Makes my ears bleed.

I hope they can fix it soon, but in the meantime reverting to the 32 bit client has resolved all issues.

Play this game on windows 7 & 10. Encountered the sound glitches on both, so yes, its not a windows 7 issue. Although the glitches are a little worse on windows 7.

So basically the 64-bit client is still unusable, and to top it off this useless patch is downloading at whopping 80 kbps...

    Edit: 60 kbps now.

According to the patch notes, they supposedly fixed some of the sound issues with the 64-bit client, but I still have random missing dialog from some NPC's. I can see their mouths moving, but no audio. I can say "Goodbye", start the same dialog sequence again, and the audio is fine the next time. It's like for some reason, the audio is not being triggered all the time.

For me 64 bit client runs quite good, and I don't remember when last time I was using the previous one.
But hissing sounds and music cut/not played at all are still an issue, even after last patch.

I am also getting random hissing, static, music drop out, & random sounds. The random sounds are ship board creaking & water splashes while on dry land, water going down a drain, & gear noises of dwarven ruins when not in them. It is now worse than before the latest patch. Also, sometimes dialog drops out too.
Does eso support hardware sound cards, or is it just software based?
I am using Win 7 home, and it is up to date on the drivers.

yep, still getting a few audio bugs. not even close to as many. haven't noticed any random sounds just the white noise hiss once in a while. just after patch i heard two in about five hours of play. so unless i just got lucky, much improved.

i switched back to 32bit client and now i have no sound problems. So, i will stick to 32 bit until the sound problems get fixed in 64 bit client.

I have the audio bugs with the 64-bit version, and I get random disconnects without error message with the 32-bit client. Both offer no solutions, it's a pick-your-poison issue of sorts. The thing is, I can go a week without audio bugs and suddenly have it reappear and be plagued all day by it. it's inconsistent as hell which in my opinion makes it hard to narrow down.

I know how to fix it, tried telling ESO Support but they ignored me - apparently they don't want this issue fixed. Guess I'll just fix it myself then and be the only one without these issues.

And still nobody from ESO Support or the mods reading this forum apparently want to know the fix. You'd think someone from the game team would be at least curious, given that it's a fix and should tell them what is going wrong their end.

It's really sad these issues are not fixed yet.

They made such a big show of "we have 64bit!" but no one can actually use it and enjoy the game because of the audio issues. As others have said going into the release of the next expansion and your new client isn't even working fully from the last patch is shameful.

I want to be able to use the 64bit client and have sound, right now I am using the 32 and making the 64 pointless.

Any developers or community managers want to stop in and update us as to what's actually happening with this?

I tried using the 64 bit client again yesterday, but the audio glitches were still too much. It seemed worse yesterday than the last time I tried it.

After DB comes out, I really wish ZOS would spend some time working hard on the 64 bit client and the lag issues rather than trying to push out more content as quickly as they can. Make the game itself smoother and more stable before trying to release more content.

In addition to the ever-present audio glitches, I still get the odd bright fuchsia tree, and muddy ground texture. Vastly improved from 64 bit launch but certainly not squashed completely either.

I find it strange that you have a solution in mind but don't care to share it with people on a forum all about players sharing solutions with other players.

I am going to fiddle with turning my playback devices down to 16/44.1 and see if that makes a difference.

Edit: June 2 - It made no difference lowering the audio sampling in Windows.

@Betheny @bottleofsyrup Thanks for tagging me, bottleofsyrup!

In regards to the 64bit client audio issues, we have identified the cause of them, and are looking at options to dealing with them.

In the meantime, we realize that some users have found workarounds relating to installing/not installing certain drivers, @jpsgamingb14_ESO for example had posted a workaround for Nvidia cards over here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/256261/zenimax-and-others-possible-fix-for-the-64bit-client-audio-hiss-stutter-ambient-sounds-missing

There is no ETA for this fix being deployed to Live 64bit. When we know, we will be sure to let you guys know, too

Thank you for finally some info on this issue and appreciate this problem is acknowledged and worked on although it is very disappointing that there's no fix in today's patch which I really hoped for.
Above 'workaround' doesn't work for me and many other Nvidia users so doesn't seem that was the cause.
In meantime back to patience game...
