Numerous audio problems with 64-bit client

The 64-bit version of ESO seems to have numerous audio problems.

The worst of them is a very loud & disruptive static noise (like you'd hear when tuning an old AM/FM radio) that cuts through all other audio every so often (maybe 1-5 minutes between repeats). Other problems I noticed were sounds playing at the wrong times, wrong volume levels or just abruptly cutting off, as well as the wrong music tracks (for example combat music in a non-combat area) starting to play at random and then stopping after 2-3 seconds.

I've experienced none of these issues after switching back to the 32-bit version of ESO.

I had this static noise on the PTS 2.3.3 release, but it cleared up with the 2.3.4 patch. Now it seems to be back on my Windows 7 boot, but haven't heard it yet on the Windows 10 boot. Oddly some face animations were missing in dialogues on the Windows 10 boot, but working on the Windows 7 boot.

It's a bit odd, I hope things get ironed out this week or next.

Amen. Finally someone acknowledged this issue that's driving me crazy on 64bit.
Have to mention that, after the update, 32bit also has white static noise, but quieter and less pronounced.

I have experienced all above + abrupt music stop and strange reverb on NPCs.

I didn't get it until the hotfix.

Weird squeaking noises when using abilities and random screams/shouts/sounds when in Cyrodiil both in and out of combat.

This is of course when i have sound in Cyrodiil.

The squeaking I think it jackal pets on idle animations. They eat a mouse. and it squeaks its death every time. In banks and places where lots of people idle... its really annoying.

64-bit client is giving me weird static sounds, having music and sound effects cut out, kind of creepy in general.

32-bit client is giving me 15-20 fps less than the 64-bit client.

I'm still having audio problem on both 32 bit and 64 bit, like no footstep or horse trot audio. No casting or combat sounds.
But can hear NPC voices and general background sound. Any ideas on how to fix?
  • imakescribbles
I didn't get the weird static/random noises until after the hotfix today. I've only tried the 64-bit client. I'm running a repair to see if that helps.

No CTDs for me too, but those noises become annoying. I donwloaded latest patch today and got the first sound problem after 1 or 2 hours of playing time.
First only one short sound per several minutes, after few hours several sounds repeating in different locations, some creepy laughs and squeking - similar to daedra laughs, and two different music tracks overlaping with those weird sounds together.
Good thing is that game runs somehow smoother on 64bit and those sound problems are independent from graphics.

Awating solution, devs pleasy hurry up :).

Same here! Random squeaky noises and door-opening noises, and the running water sound effect is replaced with (incredibly loud) static.

I'm also experiencing this problem. Dialogue randomly cut's out, sound glitches and sometimes loud clipping noises followed by sound effects from objects/players very far away.

I.e. a player might loot a chest, miles away and you'd here it loud and centre, as if it's happening right in front of you.

Any suggestions? Tried it both with ASUS Gene IV on-board sound, as well as a Roland UA25EX external USB card. Same issue.

Same here, especially the loud static, which is very annoying. Really enjoying the better FPS on the 64-bit, hate to go back to the 32.

I had the same problem. Pink wasps, sound effect glitches and weird looking panther things in rawl'kha (don't know what they are called exactly). I changed back to the 32bit client after 10min.

My experience with the 64 bit client so far:

    1. Missing voiceover.
    2. Random noises that are repeated (seems like local audio).
    3. Static.
    4. Missing armor models/faces.
    5. Missing textures/masks? 4. and 5. are often replaced by some pink color.

All of this seems completely random.

However, some of the audio issues might be related to the audio sliders since most of the missing voiceover issues disappeared once I had messed around with the "Voice" dialogue audio slider. May just be a coincidence, though.

If you run eso64.exe as administrator, that seems to solve the audio problems. I haven't had any audio issues since trying that. Though I have gotten a couple random freezes, which I wasn't getting before. :(

I've been running as administrator the entire time - did not solve it for me (or my husband). Its worst in the new area (missing voiceovers and random background static/screeches are worst). But its Tamriel-wide. Had a new one earlier today in EP starter area - my character's combat grunts repeated infinitely on a loop, very rapidly too, with water sound effects at the same time. SUPER annoying.

Running a repair didn't solve the problem. The horrible static doesn't seem to happen all the time, but when it does happen there's a lot of it, and then none at all for awhile.
