Played too many rush to end game mmos. I found out that these games are not the type of games I wanted to play. So I gave up on mmos. The first reason I pick up Elder scrolls online was one because I like the lore of the Elder scrolls series and the world. The second reason was that it was coming to consoles. At first I was not going to get the game because it was a mmo. I bought and played this game for the lore and world and stayed for the lore and world.

I bought the game for the Elder Scrolls name.

I've been playing it for almost 2 years because I enjoy it.

At this point you could call it the Elmer Fudd Chronicles and I would still enjoy playing ESO just as much.

I looked forward to ESO because it was an Elder Scrolls game & I have really enjoyed every elder scrolls game I have played. So I did purchase this game because it was Elder Scrolls... I didn't (at the time) want an MMO... I wanted basically Skyrim with a new story, new lands & co-op play... so ESO was very close to exactly what I wanted. I had no interest in PVP & didn't play any PVP till after I'd been doing the PVE content for over a year!

Eventually I tried the PVP & freakin' loved it! & I still love playing PVP. It has it's frustrations due to ping & FPS issues but you can get similar issues with most online games from my experience.

Now after almost 2 years, it could be called whatever & I would still play it. It's pure bonus that it is an Elder Scrolls game with all the very cool lore. It's a great game & has held my attention longer than any game in the past except Quake. Another year & it will be in the number 1 position!

Oblivion got me into The Elder Scrolls. I was amazed on how rich the story was. I probably wouldn't had even considered joining if.. well, the bugs in the beta were never fixed (as to why there was so much negativity back then).
And if this wasn't based on the series, I would had never played it.

I honestly don't know. The first ES game I played was oblivion. The only reason I bought oblivion was because a friend at the time gave it an absolutely glowing review. I found oblivion to have the worst "stock" gameplay mechanics of any game I had ever tried. The leveling system was so poorly thought out that it actually fought you. You had to use a certain skill for a specific amount of time and level it up in such a way to get the desired max attributes. If you messed up, your character was screwed. The game did have one huge saving grace. It was a single player game and was easily moddable which meant I could change whatever I wanted. This was huge! I would even go so far to say that the ability to mod the game was probably what kept so many people interested in it. The ability to mod certainly paved the way for skyrim.

Skyrim was vastly improved over oblivion in terms of mechanics however it was still a horrible stock game. The females looked and moved like men. The animations were horrible. There was a gastly facial texture malfunctions and silly mechanics. Thank goodness for mods!

My biggest reservation coming into TESO was the fact it was an online game. Online takes modding off the table. This also meant we would be 100% reliant on the developers of TESO to make the game interesting, fulfilling and entertaining. Coming into beta I felt that they actually did an "OK" job. More so, the developers at the time gave me the impression that they openly wanted player feedback and would action it and that is ultimately why I bought the game. It was the hope for what it could be mixed with how much fun I had had playing a "modded" skyrim or oblivion. 2 years on and I feel that's not really panned out so well for them and not for the lack of trying.

He who controls the flow of money controls everything and Zenimax does not control the flow of money. They, like all companies, require a sufficient flow of money to produce a quality product. Without that flow, a level of insanity works its way through a business. It's exactly the same as taking a fish and tossing it on the beach. It starts flopping around gasping for air. Then,its minor systems start to shut down in an attempt to preserve its life followed by its major systems.

Well, I signed up for the beta because it was Elder Scrolls, I preordered after my beta experience, and now I think it is one of the best mmos out there, elder scrolls or not.

I think this shows how many single player gamers ZOS has drawn to MMO. Enjoying ESO greatly, still I wouldn't start with any other MMO, unless it had some very personally interesting hook for me.

I probably wouldn't have heard of it, or if I did, wouldn't have considered it unless a friend introduced me to it. I've only ever played one other MMO, and I'm not really into the whole multi-player stuff too much, it's fun sometimes though, with friends.

That said, if I did get introduced to the game, and it was essentially the same, just not TES, but still similar concepts, I'd probably have liked the game for awhile, but I probably wouldn't have stayed with it for too long.

The fact that it is an elder scrolls was what attracted me to it in the first place, so would I have played it if it wasn't? Probably not.

The fact it's TES was what got me obsessed interested in it in the first place. If it weren't anything to do with TES, then I'm sorry to say I probably wouldn't even have given it a second look.

MMOs fascinate me, and the only other MMO I've really gotten into was SWTOR (and that was largely because of peer pressure rather than brand recognition; I'd never actually seen Star Wars until very recently).

That isn't to say I don't love the game, 'cause I do. I just probably wouldn't have played it if it didn't have the TES connection. The lore dumps, quests, characters, and exploration are just what I'd expect from a TES game, and I don't think I'll be leaving any time soon.
