The entire point of proxy det and VD is to discourage groups from running tight like the victims in Sypher's video. It is a counter to a popular strategy, not an I-win button.

The I-win button was stacking tight and proactively casting barriers/heals/AEs/Rapids/Purges. Not all guilds that did that lacked skill, but the proactive use of those skills enabled fundamentally unskilled players to succeed.

Hopefully, groups learn not to stack up and a new paradigm will emerge that makes proxy+vd less effective.

It doesn't take skill to use a pot, cast Proxy, and run next to people. So now unskilled players can quadruple their kills. They don't need to learn to play their class. Just get this set, cast this ability and run over next to those people there. You win. You simply can't get further from the skill needed to 1vX in the past. This set takes SKILL completely out of the game, just as much if not more than the alternative. When you see Sypher doing exactly that and getting 13 instant death, you know there is something wrong.

There is a difference between stacking up and just running with a group of people. How do you take resources in this game now, especially keeps? There are choke points all over the place and now they can be defended by a very small group verse an entire raid. Worse, now you have to think about being too close to someone squishy cause they could be hidden time bombs and that is going to *** off gamers. Why should I be penalized because a person from my own alliance was too close to me when they were being killed? Big Battles are going to be nerve-racking as you have to now dodge people from your own alliance verse focusing on killing people from another alliance.

Enjoy it while it lasts cause bet is it gets nerfed when the experience of PvP for the majority is trashed because of it.

Someone seriously should come see Azura star pc eu when prime time> SO much better than any pvp there been past 1 year when everyone is going on with fights without worry of aoe blobs to ruin everything. Loads of siege to make keep taking impossible, but its so much better than just raid/s taking keeps without single losses due to all sort of blobbing protections aoe skills buffs and all that other nonsense that benefits raids/small scalers so much. Casuals wont get that point of skill usaging but atleast they have honest fun.

I run there raid, but without limiting or making people do only specific things. pure openworld roaming outside and inside castle and hell yeah so much fun since we arent immortal godlike group.

When all this aoe sircus started nearly 2 year ago with Aldmeri impulse train i knew it myself this is going to be future group meta until zenimax neutralizes it. the nerf to impulse sort of worked but made people hunt for other solutions> they found steel tornado. Solution to that? Detonation bomb.

Constantly people keep finding better and better ways to ruin the fun for others. Yeah they have excuse like but we need to survive better, we cant die or the fun is over! Oh yeah? just spawn and come back. but oh no the horse simulator! Jesus people we play games to have fun and good fun should be shared.

comment: These meta builds and meta raids should be just thrown into bonfire and forgotten completely.

Ofc the way we get rewarded AP for doesnt really help and motivate people to do anything else but farm ap and stick to locations with shitloads of people.

So now that there is this 3-4x aoe skill on your bar folks going wild with bolt/cloak available the cyrodiil in all servers is about to become ghost town except for one faction that keeps killing players without anything happening at map except at gates. What in gods name is wrong with people having such an HUGE urge to dominate everything in every possible way?

Every single faction eventually hiding in their own campaign nearly gatecamping folks who try to make ap for the sake of getting skills unlocked or reach 69 year later alliance war rank 50 which some folks only by farming have reached. Is there even single ava rank 50 around who has farmed less than 10000 hours?

    >>> been pointing out results/effects by separating each of them.

I dont mean to diminish players or their guilds or their talents. But balling in this game or other MMOs is among the lowest skilled level of mass PVP Ive seen in any MMOs Ive PVPd in - or any game play from any genre Ive seen. Its why a lot of people have wanted it gone since it started to develop. Its why a lot of the really good guilds in this game quit a long time ago.

Its not really your fault - given the mechanics ZOS put in.

Its so easy...ENTIRE PUG zergs in Gw2 do it....So anyone claiming it was skill was woefully delusional.

GW2 is like 27 times harder game to play, you cant compare its casual players to casual ones on ESO.

Not really...I don't find it remotely harder to play at all.

Is it harder to play than DAOC?

Really not sure how this is any different than the bats of previous patches no skill dks holding block walking and talons bats talons bats talons bats. Ppl want to return to those days... Ppl that do not want to adapt. Ppl that used to be viable or successful or competitive and are no longer. We need to have tools to defend the few against the many. Prox det and vicious death are merely some of them. Personally I also use prox det as a big red circle that says hey mr nightblade go ahead and ambush into me actually you all going to ambush into me cause it's your thing...but there may/will be consequences. I also like it for the crit rushers and talons/whip users. I like these tools and think when you carry around a hammer all the time... eventually most things start looking like a nail.

Well organized groups (you call them Zergs) will never stop, just adjust. We're already figuring that out. Much of it is moving quickly, don't stand in one spot, use block more often, get impen. etc etc, we'll figure it out.

What we've now created is a way for the elite to solo groups of 20 on their own with suicide bombs.

Again, the well organized groups (5% of the player base) will adjust and be fine. The elite solo'er (0.1% of the population) will now bomb spots of natural choke points that just happens to have a lot of players.

The remaining 95%? They're goi8ng to die faster than ever in PvP now.

How is this good for the game?

Every time a zerg buster ability is added to the game....all it does it make the game worse for 95% of the population.

Luckily, I run with a well organized group.

They will then follow it up with "spread out" as they're intentionally waiting inside a choke point where you can't spread out. "Spread out" on the flag you can't actually spread out on guys, because, it sounds cool and makes me look like an ESO hipster saying it. When @Sypher does this on an open field, then yes, 'spread out' has merit, but you've only been capable of doing this in condensed chokes where you can't spread out, which was what players said over and over again in criticism of the balance of the set, but were told we don't know what we're talking about and just zergling baddies. Soooo, you're going to be doing this in the open Nikel field next right? No? Hmm, wonder why not?

Most of the organized pvp groups already came up with strats to counter this, you'll catch some off-guard or low on resources occasionally, but these vids will typically be about wiping players that aren't in groups, which, /golfclap xD ... dat wrobel balance where the game gets turned into an aoe FPS instead of having aoe caps addressed... lulz. FYI, most of the organized pvp groups will be outfitted in this as well, so GG, now we get to run cookie cutter builds and the meta is about who gets their ult off first. I'll be running this and fasalla's on my toons, but, I'm just honest enough to admit poor balance when I see it.

I mean - we talked about this set and AOE caps on We Are ESO... Sypher even agreed that he would rather have things like dynamic ult gen than this set.

This isnt the solution people wanted. But its a lot better than 30 idiots being completely invulnerable to a couple guys due to the fact those idiots are standing close to each other.

So if 1 or 2 players cant solo 30 players you think PvP is broken, I think this is whats wrong with PvP , the attitude that they should win 100 percent of the time no matter how many players the take on. Think about that for min, you really think you should be able to kill 30 players? If you can then its definitely broken.

Is that your takeaway from that? That 1 or 2 players should win 100% of the time no matter the odds they face? Even back when AOE caps werent in and dynamic ult gen was present, these players didnt 'win' the actual battle. But they were able to fight, use different builds, and play out a strategy.

With the way the game functions now, build diversity is at all time lows. Numbers count more than they ever have, and skill has been diminished. If that is the type of game you want to advocate for, then go for it. Its not the one I wanted.

Got 5 Phoenix reborn' shots on me in a death recap. Learned my lesson...

Great time fighting your group last night. Really enjoyed it. Now if ZOS can fix the lag and FPS drops, it would have been more epic.

I was really sad you guys pulled off! That was our first fight of the night, a bit rough on the warmup side of things but it was going pretty strong back and forth by the end!

We had quite a few leave for Veteran Maw of Lorkahj; performance issues for others. Our leader crashed and it took him around 15 minutes to get back into the game.

Others had been playing at sub 10 FPS, an issue that was supposedly hot fixed. Any update on another hot fix for that @ZOS_GinaBruno ?

The 600+ ping also got old. What happened to those Thieves Guild performance fixes @ZOS_BrianWheeler ?

To bad you all missed Alessia last night. Quite literally a pop locked AD was all there and couldn't take the Castle back. 70k AP in 30 minutes. xD

Only real group that was there was an under-geared victorem group that i saw and I'm the only one in that guild (well me and crown now to my knowledge) that has a full set of VD (and i don't think many are close to it yet)...the rest i think were pugs who don't know how to push into a breach whatsoever...

I bet people went to the forums to complain about these balled up zergs too.

Alliance vs. Alliance. It's a war. Want a single player pvp game? Go play deathmatch on CoD.

OMG group works together and having tons of success!!! NO NO NO!!!

    Ballzerg pls nerf Zeni pls

If you want to get technical.. To myself and a majority of my group, no one was there. No AD rendered, group mates didn't render, no chevrons or crown. So I couldn't tell if it was pugs or organized guild.

Friend of mine running Core i7 6700k with 32GB RAM and Radeon R9 Fury 4K had the same issue with FPS under 10. @ZOS_BrianWheeler thought this was getting fixed in Thieves Guild? How would you recommend I build a computer to get 60 FPS in Cyrodiil in big battles?

It wasn't that bad that fps was low but latency was high

I'll rephrase my statement that vic was there to members of vic in a group together were there but by no means was anyone working together...most were complaining that they couldn't get kills or lag or whatever you want

Even back when AOE caps werent in
AoE caps have been in place since the release of the game with the exception of a few skills that got 'fixed' in an early patch.

It was the dynamic Ultimate gain that kept them going, not the lack of AoE caps on a few skills.
