Need help to pick up a one , magic sorcerer vs magic Nb

Hard time for me to pick one up.
Magic Nb , i heard they are not very good against stamina builds ,even after stamina warriors got a 15-20% damage nerf this patch. People also told me that they are squish than stamina nbs ...
Magic sorcerer is good , yeah they are good. However i cant forget the future plan of add 1.5 cast time to shield. I mean i dont play a class that will be nerf to the ground and useless in the future.
So any suggestion to help me ?

Then don't play at all, at least not an MMO. Any and every class / build is subject to changes / buffs / nerves at some point in the future.

I play a magicka sorc myself, we were last in the queue in 1.5, then climbed up the ladder in 1.6 and still are the kings of the field now. But we will get nerfed/changed sooner or later and I'll be ready fr it and live with it.

Both are solid. The overall results you get however depend upon practice and skill.

    MagSorcs

    PROS IN PVP

    1. have more survivability than a tank but can still dish out horrendous amounts of ranged damage very quickly. Also their wards cannot be critted so yeah its a real sh*tshow.

    2. can do instant cast high damage range attacks that stun/knockdown

    3. have alot of mobility which includes a built in stun

    4. Have one of the most powerful ultimates (Energy Overload) that can do alot a damage in very little time.

    CONS IN PVP

    1. requires keen sense of timing and practice

    2. learning how to manage a low stamina pool

    MagBlades

    PROS IN PVP

    1. can control the fight using all sorts of tricks like Mass Hysteria (arguably the best cc in the game), Shadow Image and are the masters of misdirection and hit and run tactics

    2. can heal themselves while doing damage

    3. have alot of mobility in stealth and retain the element of surprise

    4. alot of Synergy with the Vampire skill line which provides a reliable high damage ultimate and innate combos of the class, ie; devouring swarm + sap essence

    5. very deadly and effective execution ability: impale, more effective than a sorcs.

    CONS IN PVP

    1. lacks the built in burst of a sorc and may require 8000 hours plus of pvp grinding to get proxy det

    2. very squishy so will require more investment toward survivability at the expense of offensive skills.

These classes can go toe to toe with stam builds and wreck them its just a matter of skill. Stamina classes do more damage but magika can generally outlast them by putting pressure on them to expend their resources. I personally prefer magblades but a good sorc is always a tough nut to crack.

Prox det in pvp is now easy to obtain.

Both Mage nb and Mage sourc are very strong.
I believe mag sourc is slightly better for pvp solo 1vsX but Mage nb works a lot better with groups and is the strongest in pve mob killer class. This is because mag nb has awesome stuns and fear and heals everything while doing massive damage. So it really depends what kind toon you want to play. Mage nb has the big advantage of cloak while sourc has ward which may or may not be nerfed. If it is nerfed I will use healing Ward only.

I have both. I personally prefer the play style of the Nightblades. I liked my sorc for a while, but ultimately found their play style monotonous - ward, ward, curse, entropy, curse, heal, ward, curse,,etc. that's just me...it's a personal preference.

My second pro w NBs is that if you decide you hate a magic NB you can respec into a stam build, and those are very different and fun. There are stam sorcs, but this is a pretty niche build.

Suggestion - you get eight characters per account. Create one of each, and spend an afternoon playing each. Then play the one you like better and turn the other into a mule.

Like davey1107, I would suggest to try them both at least to level 10-15 (dual bar?)

I can only really speak for Magica Sorc as it's my main character.

The survivability of this build is crazy. The amount of time you think I'm about to die, but come back to win the fight...
Thank you: Hardened Ward, Healing Ward and Harness Magica.

Hardened Ward: Combine this with Harness Magica and you are as solid as a tank, even with full light armor setup
Streak: One of the best/coolest skill in the game... Good luck catching up to a sorc... + it stuns!
Crystal Frag: How about a ranged Wrecking Blow?
Daedric Minefield: My favorite sorc skills in the game.. Melee fighter will think twice before charging you.... and those that do charge you will get hit by 8k (for each mine they hit a mine) and get rooted.
Boundless Storm: Hello speed! I personally use it on my third bar only combined with Dark Exchange and Streak as a GTFO option.
Defensive Rune: I rarely use it as it's only has one use: To protect yourself from gankers. But it works really well when baiting or simply roaming solo in PVP areas.
Overload: This ultimate is just OP.. Let's just say this, my light attack hit for 12k unbuff.. PLUS, it gives you a third bar...
Greater Astronach: This ultimate can turn the tide of a fight pretty quickly. I personally don't use it anymore since I have Meteor.
Power Surge: +20% spell dmg... what else to say? (I personally prefer Structured Entropy though)

For the Magica Nightblade, I can say this : For me, it is the most annoying class to play agains't.
They can perma cloak and if you don't have the skill to handle this, he will just run away when he notice that he doesn't stand a chance agains't you.

Magicka sorc is absurdly tanky with Healing Ward + Conjured Ward and the constant passive heals from Dark Magic and Power Surge. With that said, it's also pretty boring to play because all you do is put up Conjured Ward and Power Surge, then spam cheap magicka abilities (I prefer Crushing Shock) until Crystal Frags procs.

With magicka nightblade, you have a bunch of good utility abilities - Summon Shade, Cripple, Mass Hysteria, Piercing Mark, ect. It's a lot more fun to play in PvP because you can use different skills to counter your opponent rather than constantly spamming the same abilities.

Cloak is pretty much the best PvP ability there is, and provides a lot more mobility than Bolt Escape. BE is still a fun skill to use, but the increasing cast cost makes it a pretty bad 'escape.' With Mag NB, you can escape 99% of the time through clever use of Dark Cloak, and it lets you dodge incoming attacks. (Using Cloak lets you negate Meteors and Radiant Destruction.)

Both classes suffer from a tiny Stamina pool, which makes crowd control abilities a pain in the butt to deal with. I think Nightblade wins here too, because Cloak lets you keep your distance from stamina builds and Bolt Escape doesn't. If you try to Bolt Escape away from a stamina build, they'll just spam gap-closers until one connects. With Cloak, you can run behind a tree and wait for the right opportunity to attack.

Played a magic sorc for ages, loved it until I played magic nightblade, I only use my sorc for crafting and a maelstrom leaderboard entry now.

If that's all you, to spam cheap abilities until Crystal Frag proc, than in my opinion you are playing the class wrong.

What sorcerer excels is burst damage.
It takes a great amount of practice to successfully time everything. (and it's always a blast to do!)

One of the mistake I see too many sorcerer do is not casting Crystal Frag enough. (Hard cast that thing!!!)

    About utility abilities? How about:
Daedric Mines -> My mines hit for 8k each... It makes melee attacker think twice (or die!). When used efficiently, this is one of the best skill in the game.
Defensive Rune -> The #1 bait tool... Best used to find gankers
Restraining Prison -> Perhaps my favorite CC tool, after Mass Hysteria
Dark Exchange -> Great utility to restore Stamina when you need to GTFO (very useful on a third bar, if you want to use it as a Getaway bar).. I also love to use it when running scrolls.
    Boundless storm -> Mobility!
Streak -> It stuns. It can be used as a gap closer. It can be used as a GTFO card. With only 5 skills per bar... multi-uses skills are the best.
Overload -> Very powerful, but the best thing about this ultimate, it gives a third bar. I use mine to slot a few abilities (such as defensive rune, restraining prison, Boundless Storm, etc.)

You are definitely biased towards the NB, just like I am towards the Sorc... :)

Magicka NB has better gameplay and is more versatile (tank heal dps). Happy to play it =D
More difficult than sorc, and less shiny, but NBs are can troll others players as hell ! eVery funny !

Mag Sorc easier to survive, to escape and do more dps en PvE. They are too powerful thats why they rarely use their CC because their shields are too efficient. Sorc does not do fast solo pve NBs has the best solo leveling ! (spam cloak and run all dungeons !)
