For those that can't be bothered to click on it, I'll give you a summary. DX11 ruled for October, November and December and probably for the previous months as well. Want to guess which was in the lead for January and February?
Go on, have a guess....
You're close but not quite there...
Yes that's right, DX8 or lower.... DX9 hardly anyone has got.
That is a very strange anomaly in the data. It seems completely unreasonable to me that 80% of Steam users would have DirectX 11 compatible GPUs in October, but only 16% of them would in February. I'll see if I can reach out to a contact at Valve about this, but I doubt she'll have any more incite than I do.

What card did you buy?
I bought this one:
MSI ATI Radeon HD6450 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card R6450-MD1GD3/LP
It's all I could get at the immediate moment.I had to borrow for it,but no problem. My pal actually owes me $40.00. Hehehe.
Has 4.5 stars on amazon.com. Looks like you got a good card.
I'm just praying that it works with W10.It says it works with W7,so,..fingers crossed. I got it at Amazon.com,so if it doesnt work,I can return it for one that will, though I may have to pay a bit more.

Ooooh, you're running on Windows 10? I found this about the card, it may be handy to bookmark this for future reference, but it seems like this person got it working with Windows 10. Let us know how it runs ESO when you get it all settled in!
Edit: I had a derp moment and forgot to hyperlink. Whoops! My bad! Sorry. xD
Jeez,..I dont know even half of what the person was talking about.I am praying this will work.I bookmarked the site in case I have to do as he did with the driver situation.
Thank you oodles for the help.Highly appreciated. :}
To be fair most of that guy's issues in the review were because of his dual monitor setup.
Well,I just have one real concern about the video card. The cable,if it is different than my PCs is.I'll find out tomorrow or the next day.
Most likely it's DVI or HDMI... or both. It might also have multiple of each. If you are using an old VGA monitor you might as well buy a new monitor. These days the difference between a TV and a computer monitor is so low that you could buy pretty much any old small HD flat panel for like $100
I just bought a new Hannspree Monitor.About three months ago.

Software matters because games are released broken and graphics card manufacturers have to write specific driver code to make the game run smoothly. That is the sad state of meeting unrealistic deadlines and player expectations.
Even Intel HD Graphics 4000 which comes with free with some processors will have relatively good performance on ESO. You may have better luck getting a refurbished Radeon HD 8350.
Someone here who runs this card recommended it and a couple of other people have said it will work. Also,it supports DX11.My PC is good to go otherwise.
Also,it's really just a quick fix,until I can get a better one.

Oh silly me, you must have meant the connection inside the computer. PCI/PCIe probably unless there's already a new standard. As for the PSU connection (if it has one) IDK. My computer is 6 years old but I put in a new card last year so I can run DX11. Possibly 12 if I upgraded to Windows 10 which I am still debating if I should do. I would if most new games will be using DX12 in the coming year.

I don't want to derail the thread too much, but for an interesting challenge, try a game like Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant or Might & Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven. Both of these should provide for hours of entertainment to anyone who doesn't balk at the idea of playing Atari games. Both are available on GOG.com should you be so inclined.

Stewart linked it because there's something interesting about Febuary's listing, that there are a lot more DX8 cards being used rather than DX11. They just commented that it was odd, nothing about that the majority of ESO uses Steam and therefore inconclusive in that stance. To be honest, I think that's an out-of-date view. Steam is now very much the platform of choice for very many gamers, it creates a simple means of installing, updating, accessing and removing games as well as having its own discussion boards and providing easy communications between friends regardless of what they're doing or playing. I don't use it socially but I do use it as my platform of choice for any new games (but didn't switch ESO to it as the terms weren't favourable if you already had the game when it launched on Steam).
And no, I don't fit your suggested demographic - by a good 40 years!
I know literally 100s of gamers. I know noone who uses steam. So I know you assume because you and your buddies at school use it that everyone does. That is not the case tho.
Lol I like how his friends using Steam means nothing but yours not using it is somehow supposed to be relevant. Steam has over 100 million active users according to the data they released. They control majority of the PC gaming market your anecdotal evidence doesn't change that.
100 million users WORLDWIDE. Also active users can mean the same person on multiple accounts. Considering there are over 1 billion people just in the united states and europe alone kinda puts your number in context.

... I would have never thought about it that way. That... Actually makes a lot more sense then what I was thinking. I just wonder how performance will be with my older games that I still have the discs for when I get my new rig. Like Morrowind and running MGE XE. Regardless if I had that running or not, it wouldn't run above 12 FPS where as Skyrim was getting about 20-30 with a ton of texture overhauls. I was like "Seriously?" Kinda wonder if I should just keep this old PC to run my old games (instead of just work) and just use the rig I'm getting for things like the newer games.

I mentioned earlier that I use virtual pc and have ME, XP, Vista and WIn 7 installed on it. Playing the original X Com on it is very interesting. Everything is sped up. When the aliens do their move, blink and it's over. That's the only game I seen it happen on though. If you want to play old games on a new rig, virtual pc is the way forward.

Alright! I'll have a look into that then! Thanks for that info! I had something similar when I was playing Clive Barker's: Undying (one of my favorite oldie horror games). Zipped right into the nothing and died. I thought it was just the card that was doing it, but if running Virtual PC fixes speed/stutter issues like that then I'll use that instead! xD

It's probably because of the CPU, the classic games are usually on the really old 400 MHz processors. so the modern mulit cores can blast through all the calculation needed resulting in a faster game. Admittedly though it doesn't show dew drops on a blade of grass like you might see on DX11 machines though but I always went for depth and game play over looking pretty.

Busy cities sometimes cause some stutters here and there but otherwise stable 40-50 fps. Texture quality and subsampling are high, water and shadows are low, view distance is medium. All additional effects (like bloom, magelight, grass, etc.) are turned on. It's pretty far from playing on the lowest settings. This is what my game looks like:

I dont know off hand.I'll send you a message later when I am ingame. I''m going there after I finish eating.I am typing while eating a bun cut in half, toasted with butter and strawberries on one half,Butter and Bananas on the other.Oh,..and of course, hot coffee.
(I just thought I'd tell you.XD)

I guess I'll have to buy another one in a couple of months if mine only supports DX11,and save it for that ugly rainy day to come. XD

(on a different note, every time I pull up Chrome,I keep getting tons of redirects.Especially on this site above the others.)
The specs for the card is too low for the game. Even intel haswell graphics can run the game on low smoothly but this card scores slightly below the intel card. You can play the game on low at best if you are lucky. Its not the price of the card that matters but you need to look at benchmarks and know which card has better support for which games.
I'm using an even older card than that. Radeon HD 5670. The first in the series to support DX11, if I remember correctly. My operating system is also Windows 10. The game runs fine.

But I'm very pleased to hear that this card worked right out of the box. That's encouraging news!

Yup.No problems with the card. However, after the new patch,I had a massive problem. The game stuck and I crashed. Then,I had to reload Windows 10,a whole new system.THEN,I now am downloading the game.I started a couple of hours or so ago,and am now at 14%. XD

Make a system image or back your game files up to an external hard drive. No need to download the game again.
