BUT...
It should have been well publicised, well in advance. Instead there was very little (if any) warning, and I think this is the main reason why people are so upset. I don't understand why a professional games company such as ZOS, who are otherwise very proficient, can be so bad at the simple concept of communication.6 -

Now when you change the graphics driver in the "Usersettings" file from D3D11 to "OPENGL" it switches back when you launch the game. Even tried changing it and setting the file to read only but it still used D3D11. ✭i want OpenGL backThey could at least have allowed DX10 compatibility too. If it would bring the people using Wine back, it'd be a start with all of this mess, @ZOS_GinaBruno . I guarantee that a lot of us that are affected by this move won't be coming back. I'd like to, but as it stands myself and a majority of others are quite skeptical of the devs and the transparency of this issue. Updating the system requirements page in October of last year isn't enough. Throwing it in a wall of text on the PTS natch potes also isn't enough. Alerting your consumer base to a change drastic as this would probably have helped with this situation. That way we COULD have upgraded before this. Again, updated system requirements isn't enough. Stickies well in advance on addressing this specific issue would have been enough, warranted, and appreciated.
@NerfPlease ; I'll take a whack at that question. They deleted it because it's no longer supported. Swapping to OpenGL doesn't work anymore, so in their minds, why keep the page? It's one of those transparency issues that ZOS has a problem with. Either they're unsure of how to do it, or they just cut corners to save time/money.Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies!2 -

Never played ESP.
I also used OpenGL for WINE on my Ubuntu machine. Would like to see it return but I highly doubt it will.

EDIT: I just dicovered this. Darling is a translation layer that allows you to run unmodified OS X binaries on Linux. In its nature, it is similar to the well-known Wine project.

Chaaya✭✭i want OpenGL backWhile my system handles dx11 very nicely,. my husband's did not. Being unable to log in was a bit of a shock to him .. The fact that I could get on just lead to increased grumpiness on his part. Some warning in game might have been nice.
Oh well what's done is done and one upgrade later , he can play once more.
Still , this gave me a feeling of how the sudden switch could affect players. While officially Linux may not be supported by the game, restoring OGL for users would be a a wonderful thing .1
