64 bit client has been delayed, it's not coming with the patch but in an incremental shortly.
Win 7 64 was the only one that worked out of the box on PTS. 8 and 10 both had problems so you should be good.

Oh, adding that what is important is being able to run DirectX11.

Um, the 64 bit client should be in tomorrow's patch. They fixed it in the last incremental PTS patch. I am pretty certain that part of the 64 bit client downloaded on Friday. I tried the 64 bit on the PTS and it worked well on Windows 10.

While we have not seen the live patch notes, this information is not correct according to the most recent PTS patch notes. 2.3.4.

It would seem the 64 bit PC client will be launced.

They did state however that the 64 bit client would follow in an incremental patch after dlc launch

So is everyone's game client receiving the patch and those who's pc's can handle it can just use that launcher instead or do we have to download a 64bit client altogether?

(this is an on topic query)

I think the patch will change it all for us, including the launcher and patcher itself.

No actual downloading of game all over again either - just a patch.

When the PC x64 client goes live (not today, but when the first patch to TG is released) everyone on PC will download the 64 bit exe (its only 63MB), but the launcher will automatically pick between the 32 bit exe or 64 bit exe when you click play. As long as your CPU is 64 bit capable and you have a 64 bit version of Windows installed it will launch the 64 bit client for you.

Can you alter it or are you stuck with the default? I'm thinking of what options you have if the 64 bit client gives you problems where you had none before.

The 32-bit client remains in your ESO folder, you just need to run that instead of the 64-bit .exe.

okay so I have a couple questions about the 64-bit client. I run windows 8 with 8Gb ram, I know, not that great, but my internet kind of sucks, well it does, big time so would the 64-bit help me run better? Do I have a choice of whether to run it or not? (Non troll answers would be fantastic)

I assume you have a 64bit OS so yes you will want the 64bit client.

I *think* that when it goes live, you should be able to bypass the launcher (same as you can now) and run the game from either eso.exe (the 32bit version) or eso64.exe (the 64bit version), so you should be able to manually select which version of the game you run - and you can put a shortcut to that on your desktop, etc etc. You will of course still need to use the launcher on patch days to make sure any game updates are downloaded and installed properly.

A 64-bit game client will not improve your internet's performance. Call up your ISP and see if they can help you instead. Use speed tests to determine how your latency and bandwidth are performing.

If your internet is faulty outside of your computer (router, on-route to game server or inside of the ISP network), a 64-bit client won't do that much good. If the internet latency is caused by memory clogging or bottlenecking of some sort on your computer, then potentially you can notice an improvement. However, the memory required on the bit stream on your internet, is rather low, and with today's large memory blocks, it's increasingly rarer to experience internet latency due to memory clogging or bottlenecking. Also with the SSD dics and page files, you're more or less set for memory. So unfortunately you won't get better internet connectivity with the 64 bit client. If you have internet problems, your best bet is to pester your ISP until they give in

This is a general check list

    1. Check and make certain your GPU is fully DX11 compliant. This can be done with DxDiag or simply by Googleing your particular GPU and check the Technical Specifications of it from the manufacturer. The DxDiag report will have a similar line: "Feature Levels: 11.0,10.1,10.0,9.3,9.2,9.1". The HW DX11 support is not equal to the software DX11 included in Windows 7 (DX12 for Win10).

    2. Check if you actually have the 64-bit Microsoft VC++ 2010 Redistributed installed. The ESO installer installs the x86 32-bit version. The 64-bit can be found here ; https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

    3. You'll have to manually create a shortcut to the 64-bit client (eso64-exe) on your desktop until the 64-bit client is stable enough, at which point the launcher will start the client in accordance to your OS (32-bit or 64-bit).

Other than that, I think most will be good to go, even if the live 64-bit client is one or two weeks away from today's DLC and patch update.
Just to update, the 64-bit client will be available later today with the update, but you will need to manually launch it as you did on the PTS. We have a couple outstanding issues, but have some fixes that we'll be implementing sometime this week.

Installing the Microsoft VC++ solved our issue and 64 -bit launches without a problem
