Put simply, because it'd be pretty lore-breaking to have them flying around everywhere.

Skyrim was set about 1,000 years after this game. You'll know from Skyrim that many of the dragons you fought were resurrected from death by Alduin. At this point in time, most of them are still dead from the "Dragon War" which took place before ESO. There are dragons who are alive in this time period, yes, but they're pretty deep in hiding. And they're certainty not being ridden around!

No. Just no. Skyrim is not in the ESO timeline, and needs to stop being used to justify things that people want added to this game.

From where ESO is taking place in the 2nd era, there are no known dragons on Tamriel. All other Elder Scrolls titles take place after the timeline of ESO, and their history documents that dragons are believed to have been eradicated during the Dragon War. They are believed to be extinct until their reappearance in the 201st year of the 4th era. You can't introduce dragons into the 2nd era timeline of ESO without breaking the lore of pretty much the entire Elder Scrolls universe.

With our knowledge of the future, we know the location of 2 living dragons in the 2nd era, but they cannot be exposed without breaking the belief that they are extinct, which is important through the 3rd era and the beginning of the 4th

I already asked discussed this a while back. I do not need a big dragon that actually flies. I would like a guar that has been changed to look like a fat dragon with stubby wings. Then it would make sense that it is not flying.

Apart from the fact that it would be lore-breaking for many Dragons to be around at this point in time, Dragons aren't animals to be trained and mounted at will. They are extremely proud, intelligent beings who consider themselves above mortals (in fact, they once ruled over mortals as gods). In Skyrim, one accepted it - once - under duress, and the Dragonborn could force others into it by literally bending their will with a special Shout that only a Dragonborn could use. So no, no Dragon mounts in ESO, ever.

I love that this didnt just go with the obvious "lore breaking" but then used Skyrim as it's own example as to why it wouldn't be possible even if they decided to throw in dragons.

Just to add to this glorious statement, Mechanically speaking, a flying mount is not only pointless but would totally break PVP. The main reason you get a fast mount is to get to the battle faster or to get to a keep to defened it faster, if you had a dragon mount that could just fly there, you could just fly over all the other battles go straight to the top of the inner keep wall, kill the NPCs and take the keep without ever using siege. Even out of PVP the maps are not large enough or connected to warrant flying over it all.

OP, sofar you've asked for elephants, cows, whales and dragons as mounts. You even asked for water mounts to avoid slaughterfish attacks. Not to mention a camel with USA printed on it. If you want to collect animals, I'm sure there are other games that can satisfy your needs. ;)

It sure would be fun. But it's a bad idea for pretty much all the reasons above. The zones not actually being connected being a major barrier and the ruination of lore an even bigger one.

    No flying mounts.

    No dragons.

Both those ideas would be really bad, for game-mechanic reasons, and for lore reasons.

Wammasu mounts on the other hand... weeelll... personally I'd prefer to see those as something else, since they are a bit to impressive to be wasted on passive riding animals... but if they ever add "warbeast" mounts that have their own fighting abilities or something...

More lizard mounts on the other hand might be quite possible. We shall see what might someday come... ((Murkmire expansion, I am looking at you...))

It just...it doesn't get any better worded than that. If you truly care so little about the game that you don't care about that at all you should go back to playing wow or go play skyrim and mod whatever sorts of dragons you want in.
