Undaunted Skill Line Leveling Should Have Another Completion Option

Palidon

At present as we all know the only way to level the Undaunted Skill Line is to complete the Undaunted Pledges over and over again. For me that just gets old and I for one am sick and tired of doing them over and over again to level the skill line and 9 times out of ten get junk out of the chests at the end. Why can't the player level that skill line by just completing the eight delves and Public Dungeon located in each zone of every faction in Tamriel. Heck you can even throw in the six world bosses located in each zone. That's quite a few delves, world bosses and Public Dungeons to compete.

Now I well know the player does get some credit for doing the delves and Public Dungeons in the game but it is very little for the amount of them that are in the game.

My suggestion is to allow two paths to follow to complete the skill line. Either rinse and repeat the Undaunted Pledges um-teen times with the prize of the Bronze, Silver or Gold Chests or complete all the Delves and Public Dungeons in the game. If ZOS feels that is not enough then add in the world bosses too.

We asked that about the Alliance skill lines, too.
Some people don't want to pvp every day on multiple characters to get them.
Some people don't want to do pledges every day on multiple characters for Undaunted.

We're all about options and play how you want here, right?

Give us an alternative or cut it by 40% like you did Alliance War skills.

Guess you like repeatable content where after a few times you know where each boss is and what to expect around every corner. Not to mention also knowing the mechanics of defeating each of the bosses in the undaunted pledges delves with three other players at your side. Yep that's really work and soooooooooooooo hard.

Well, you won't max it out with achievements alone. But dungeon achievements--including generic ones like dungeon damage dealer and the ones of public dungeons--do count towards the progression.

Why don't we just start with maxed skill lines from the start?

The reason Undaunted takes forever is because the passives at the end are really good. Likewise, PvP skills are really good (i.e. Proxy Det, Caltrops, etc). The reason Assault and Support progression got nerfed is because those skills are "required" for PvE builds and PvE players are tired of PvP'ing, and PvP'ers are tired of having to deal with PvE'ers complaining that ti takes forever to level up the skill line. (We all know devs only listen to PvP'ers)

While we are at it, lets reduce the number of books required to level up Mages Guild by half so we can all have Ice Comet without having to finish the story and have it by level 30.

Fighters Guild? Hmm... lets have it maxed with 9-10 IC sewer runs and 10 dolmens.

CP - well, lets just give everyone a 2 for 1 deal on top of enlightenment so we can all have 501 CP like all those try hards and basement junkies.

I'm sure we can figure out some more skill progression nerfs to please everyone... everyone except those of us who have spent the time required to actually level them up instead of complaining about how long it takes to do it.

MMO progression takes time. Most of us didn't buy this game to have a CoD type experience where we could finish the single player story arc in 4 hours and then continually bash each other in a PvP environment. Does it suck to have to do it more then once? Sure does, but if you don't like it then stick with one or two characters. Do I hate it? Yes sir! (or ma'am") However, I know the grind going into making a new character and I chose to do it anyways, knowing what I was going to have to deal with.

I do understand that not everyone has time to get on ESO 24/7 - personally, I have a job, a wife, five kids and it takes me a lot longer to get where I want to be in game then a lot of my friends and people I play with. But I will get there someday and it gives me a reason to keep running endless amounts of dungeons or running with large groups in PvP until I do (or spending 3 days finding 200+ lorebooks).

So it took you a long time to get a PvP skill or you feel proud you accomplished Undaunted 9. Now this things becomes a coveted item that has perceived value.

Someone else coming along and getting the same accomplishment in another, subjectively, easier way then devalues your efforts and your accomplishment somehow?

Are we really that petty that we compare the journey we took and want to know whos was longer and harder?

Can we not just agree that there are multiple roads to get to any destination and we shouldn't immediately shoot down any idea because it goes against some ingrained principle that doesn't belong in leisure activities?

If a PvP only person wants to spend $20 and get all the undaunted passives unlocked for them so they don't have to 'waste' their time doing something they hate doing, why the hell should we tell them no?

If a PvE only person wants to spend $20 and get all the PvP passives unlocked for them so they don't have to 'waste' their time doing something they hate doing, why the hell should we tell them no?

As long as you have the clear path for everyone to eventually get to the same destination, why do we care?

I really think it comes to the psychology of we want to put value on things that inherently can't have value, so we prescribe emotion to them.

Completing any of the achievements in the "Dungeon" section will level your undaunted. My AD sorc has done 1 group dungeon, but 3 of the public dungeons and is Undaunted 2 already.

The "kill X named bosses" as well.

Try it. Check your level and then go do one of those achievement and see if it went up or not.

When people actually did dungeons as part of the content of the game it was relatively easy to rank up undaunted.

Now people do chest runs and that's a little more "elitesauce" than just running dungeons as content (for gear).

The LFG system is the worst implementation of it and least successful at actually making a group that can run what it's intended for of any game with a LFG system I've ever seen.

What that leaves you with is sheer tedium of ranking up undaunted unless you are hardcore into pve.

I've leveled 2 characters with it, but both were in a time where people actually did dungeons for reasons other than gold keys. I switch around characters (maybe a bit of fotm, or not liking the changes to former mains) and current main don't have it, mostly because of the ridiculous nature of trying to find groups that aren't going to wipe for 4 hours.

What would happen to the game if anyone could simply buy all the skills and passives? ESO would then be full of players who complain the game is too hard when the reality is they never learned to play. The forum would be nothing but nerf threads and the game would get dumbed down to walk in the park. With this in mind, I have no objection to an easier path to Undaunted skills, PVP skills, even research and crafting as long as one character in your account has made the journey as it now stands. This way, everyone will have earned it at least once, and those enjoy it can do it again on other characters, while those who consider some activities a waste can have as easier route, but only for alts and rerolls.

That's true. I can't tell you how many pledges I did to get that line up, but It was a lot. This was post "explorer" title, mind you. I mostly pve and it wouldn't bother me if there was an alternate leveling route. Or lower the exp req. like they did the pvp lines.

Your premise is faulty. You can get undaunted to 9 doing about 10 days of Gold/silver keys. You just need to clear all the dungeons once (reasonable) AND actually get the Achievements (speed runs, no deaths, etc). Also, you get lots of points for clearing trials the first time. If you cant get the achievements, you have the option of doing extra keys to make up for it.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to making this account wide, but it's really not that bad. I have done it 4 times now. On my last toon, I had it within 10 days of turning V16, which seems reasonable to me.

Doing all of the base achievements eg. Completing all dungeons on vet/non-vet will get you to undaunted 5 or 6 depending on how many of the deal X damage/take X damage etc achievements you get along the way. Have to do pledges and complete speed achievements and the more difficult vet ones to rank it up fully

Trying to dress people wanting a game to have challenges and rewards as jealousy is rather facile - perhaps we want it to have challenges because we want to particpate in those challenges ourselves?

If you want handouts then play offline and use the cheat codes - selfish is trying to destroy the game for other players by removing the challenge, jealous is seeing what others have played for and expecting it for free.

Both of these statements are false. Public dungeons and solo delves dont give undaunted points. You get points for clearing every 4 man dungeon on regular mode and vet mode the first time. You also get points for completing both gold and silver pledges. Then go to your veteran dungeon achievements tab. All of those give undaunted points. Focus on completing those achievements and your undaunted will sky rocket. I would go crazy too if I had to level undaunted just by doing dailys at 30 points a day.

This was a ridiculous thread. Next you will want to get Legerdemain exp. from picking flowers. Pledges and dungeon achievements are plenty fast for leveling up Undaunted. Of all the grinds in the game you pick this one to complain about. Hell this one technically is not a grind it is called just playing the game. You are gonna run them all once just for the skill points.

Not directly, but what you do in delves and public dungeons (and even some quest instances) counts towards a number of the dungeon achievements that go towards ranking up your Undaunted skill line. Things like the Dungeon Annihilator, Dungeon Blocker, Dungeon Damage Dealer, etc.
